The good- the food was really good. If you like a little spicy- ask for the mild and spicy sauce 'mixed' it was perfect on my pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich is too messy to eat so make sure you get a fork. Husband ordered the beef brisket plate so he had a side of coleslaw and a side of baked beans. The baked beans were very reminiscent of bushes baked beans and the coleslaw is mayonnaise based and fantastic. The bad- the floor is super sticky and really needs a good scrubbing! Also, there was a pretty loud TV that had a comedian on that was pretty raunchy, dropping F bombs and stuff. Once a family came in I believe the mom asked them to turn it down, They changed the channel to Sanford and sons (love that show). Anyway, maybe they weren't aware. Service people were super friendly and they do a brisk business here. We'd come back if we were locals. About $27 for my sandwich (7.99) and hubs plate (17.99) with two waters. read more

The bbq and smoked sausage are really good here. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The sauce was a little spicy and the rib tips were the perfect size to feel like it's more than enough. I made sure to save some to bring back to Houston. This was through delivery but it was packed well and no leaking with the sauces and sides of Mac and cheese which was ok and bbq baked beans which I would def get again. The smoked sausage had the slaw and toasted bun. I was really hoping I didn't leave with tasting some good bbq and glad I came across Big Bill's. read more

I chose to come in based on the reviews. I live in Bartlett, but I was in Cooper Young area when I decided I was in the mood for BBQ. I drove the extra 15 minutes to get here. The place looked clean. There were just a few people inside so my wait was short. After I ordered a rib plate, it came out within 10 minutes. I enjoyed the ribs and my sides. The ribs were tender and the sauce was perfect. I would definitely recommend this place. It is a small establishment, so it's f you have a large party, you should order for carry out. Go 901!! read more

The customer service was the only thing good i experienced here. My wife ordered the cheeseburger and it was a store bought burger patty (which we are ok with) however the burger was severely undercooked and the fries were too salty. I ordered the Rib tip plate and the rib tips had no seasoning at all. I should have taken the food back but I did not. read more

This was my first time purchasing food from Big Bill's BBQ and I was not disappointed. The food was served hot and it was delicious. I ordered two jumbo beef bbq sandwiches combos. The sandwiches were fresh and season to perfection. The fries were season and very fresh. I was truly impressed with the service I received when I first walked through the door. The cashier who took my order was very attentive and friendly. When I went they were doing some remodeling and it looks as though it's going to make a customer have a great dining experience. I decided to get big bills the whitehaven location for lunch today. I got the smoked sausage with slaw with spaghetti as my side. I'm so mad I didn't get to take pictures because I'm not even gone lie that smoked sausage was Fire like the best smoked sausage and slaw I ever had. The spaghetti def wasn't for me. All the pictures looked good of it but the spaghetti I got didn't have no meat only noodles and sauce. The sauce was pretty tasty but I don't like noodles enough just to be eating noodles and sauce. Lol next time imma stick with my first mind and get baked beans. I'm giving this place 4 stars for the friendly workers, clean space and that fye ass smoked sausage. So... with currently moving to Memphis I'm all for new bbq spots. Now the inside was nice and clean so i loved that. There was an older lady who greeted me when entering! I'm always for good customer service. Now on to the cashier.. umm she was like "how can i help you?" No hi or nothing .. AGAIN.. i am big on customer service! Ok on to the food. I got the brisket sandwich.. besides the gristles in it.. it was good! I got the baked beans and they were good. I would recommend and return. Let's see, to begin with the food here was super good. The ribs were fall off the bone and very smoky. The green beans were so well seasoned! The Cole slaw was very cold and delicious. I had a brisket sandwich that was perfect. Prices were good . You pay and order at the counter. The girl at the counter was sweet and friendly. Ordered a Turkey burger from a local BBQ spot for the first time. ‍ So I show the manager this pic and brought back the rest of the burger. She states that initially it didn't look raw to her from the pic and from the remains of the burger because she thought it was just wet. Then she states that she wished I hadn't ate so much of it. Ma'am, how would I've known that my turger burger would be raw until I took a bite. On top of that, she says that if I come back, to make sure I ask to get my burger well done. ‍ I recieved a refund for my burger only but come on lady. Smh. What's hilarious is that your first thought wasn't my health and safety, nor the concern of what your staff is doing but of how much I actually ate. Lol I've worked in many restaurants and now I see why people cut up on managers. The thing is if I was gonna sue, I wouldn't have returned asking for a refund. I just wanted to bring it to their attention but she made it seem as If I wanted to get over on her or if I was imposing by bringing this to her attention. I understand the mistake, I worked in restaurants and I cater but Dont be rude and unapologetic about it. I know the power of not returning to an establishment and I don't like commenting negatively on small businesses but their lack professionalism and customer consideration is down right negligent. Ordered a Take-Out meal from Big Bill's Bar-be-que, which turned out pretty good. Traveling through Memphis, so of course I'm going to get bar-be-que from a local restaurant! Glad I did! I think the meal would've been better dinning-in. Didn't want the bread getting too thoroughly soaked in sauce, so I asked for it on the side. Since I'm traveling, I got the mild sauce. I'm very curious how good the other heats and flavors are. The pulled pork sandwich was great! Smokey! The salmon nachos were nice too, the prime issue being the chips. They seemed a little stale for my tastes. I like a crispy chip. I would try Big Bill's BBQ again for sure, perhaps the ribs or the turkey leg. Definitely going to try those sauces! read more

Good, good, good!! I recently started getting BBQ here and I am so glad I did! Firstly, they allow online orders (THANK YOU!!), second, the order is always accurate and hot, and last, the food is GOOD!!! I always get the chopped chicken combo and a time or two I got the chopped salmon sandwich, always topped with coleslaw. I always get the medium hot sauce on the side. I've never had chopped salmon bbq sandwich but this one is bomb! The place is clean inside and the parking is plentiful. Give them a try!! read more

The bbq meals are always an added bonus after visiting the Nike Store nearby. Even when Nike doesnt have any good shoes. Big Bill BBQ never disappoints. I case I didnt mention this in past reviews. This is a place locals frequent. So you know you can go wrong. Sometimes a line out the door. So plan ahead to possibly of waiting in line for a while. read more

Place is solid. Nice staff, decent food, good prices, nothing spectacular but gets the job done. I tried the catfish and the pulled pork, although that's not what I ordered. They tend to serve you different things than you order in my limited experience. Still, I wouldn't discourage anyone from coming here. Good place, just nothing more than that. read more

Good BBQ, sketchy neighborhood. We wanted to get some good BBQ before we drove over to Graceland so we stopped here. It is a real hole in the wall with good food. The neighborhood is not so great. There was a guy asking for money out front and a guy asked for money while we were in the place. It is a run down place, but the food was very good. If you are looking for authentic Memphis BBQ, this is a good place, but keep your eyes open. read more

We were in town to see Graceland. I looked on Yelp and saw the reviews were favorable so we tried it. I had a 1/2 rack of, fall of the bone ribs, they were awesome!!! My wife had a Turkey Burger, she said it was the best she had ever had. Don't do the chains, support Big Bills! read more

This must be the local hot spot no one wants tourists to know about. We stumbled in after just driving by before heading to Graceland. It the best hole in the wall spot we have ever found!! I had a simple baloney bbq sandwich with slaw on the side and I'm still craving it 2 months later!!! My husband had a pulled pork sandwich he still talks about. The only downside was it was super Smokey from the pit our eyes were watering. But that's almost Irrelevant since the food was so good!!!!! read more

Great, great and more great! I'm impressed and wish I had photos to show but I ate it all up. Had the sausage, bologna, ribs and brisket. Sauce was spicy and delicious! Cole slaw fresh! Very nice remolded eatery. I ordered the bbq pork plate it was very tasty with nice portions. Also the rib tips plate was good also. Now the hamburger (Street Burger)on the other hand was a plan old frozen beef patty with all the fixings. They make better burgers at Sonic. I'll will be back read more

Don't get me wrong the food is good but the cashier there, not so much. I called in a Togo order, a pulled pork bbq sandwich which was good. Could've been more spicy but other than that I had not problem. My problem is when I ordered over the phone the young lady said that I would have to pay over the phone since it's to go. I had no problem doing so.. everything was fine until 2 hours later I got a notification that someone attempted to make a $500+ purchase off my card. Long story short DO NOT place Togo order over the phone!! You will get scammed or she will try to get your money. This is not the first time this has happened to someone In my Family. I would Like to enjoy supporting black owned businesses without thinking someone is trying to take my money read more

I stopped in to Big Bill on a recommendation and the food was good. The Turkey leg I got was so huge and the potato salad was delicious. I wish they didn't drown the leg in so much sauce or let me pour it on myself. I recommend asking for it on the side so you can another to your degree of liking. Other than that this place is a solid and I will continue to dry other places. read more

I love barbecue. I mean I really love barbecue. It's quite possibly my favorite food. I travel all across the USA for work (literally Miami to Seattle) and have made a point to stop at everyone's favorite BBQ spots all across the south. This place just made my top 3. The meat is delicious, spicy sauce has a real kick, coleslaw is fresh and not too sweet, and the staff is sweet as can be! Might be in a strip mall, but it feels like a proper BBQ shack none the less; a smoky haze hangs thickly in the air, full of the smell of satisfaction. read more

I ordered wings and two dry slabs of ribs. When my family and I finally decided to eat the ribs on Monday, they were disgusting. They had seasoning caked all on them, and they were overly salty. We wiped off the caked-on seasoning and tried to eat around the saltiness. I was praying the 2nd slab was not the same. When I opened them on 5/27 to see, they were the same. I was trying to avoid calling because I just didn't feel like being bothered. But I called. I left a message for the manager to return my call that morning because "he is in the middle of an interview." So I called back that afternoon and was transferred to Ethan. I explained the situation to him. As I was speaking, he kept making the noise un-huh. So, I stopped talking and asked him what it meant aside from it just being rude as hell. He went on to explain that they missed a step and did not rub in the seasoning and shake it off. I don't care. It's an internal quality issue that should be handled with the prep and cook staff. Not me. He asked if I had my receipt and, in a tone that suggested he was doing me a favor, advised me that he would replace the slab. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything. After my long workday, I went all the way downtown to get the slab replaced. In person, Ethan is just as rude. I asked if he was going to replace both slabs. He could clearly see the quality was trash. He said no and that he would only replace one. Then went on to offer me sides and a slice of cake. No, thank you. I can afford sides and cake just like I did those trash slabs of ribs. Those slabs of ribs cost $62.40 before taxes. With taxes probably being another 5 or 6 dollars. Your mistakes and poor quality should not cost me. He had a young lady bring the replacement slab back out to me. She didn't say thank you or anything. One thing I know is that a white man or woman patronizing your business would not have been treated this way. As a result, moving forward I will spend my Black woman dollars elsewhere on barbeque and smoked chicken wings. Also, I removed you all from my company's approved catering list where we spend a nice amount with you all yearly. Tell Ethan, thanks for helping me see the light and not spend money where I'm not respected and where my customer experience isn't valued.

Loved everything about Gus's! I avoid meat mostly, but I was…read morenot about to miss trying famous fried chicken! The restaurant is tucked away on a small, empty street. There is plenty of parking in a lot across the street. We went inside and found it to be pretty busy, but we got a table for 4 quickly. The place was clean and homey-feeling and I loved the fact that they used disposable plates, utensils and napkins! It is probably way easier on the crew to clean up, and it adds to the relaxed atmosphere. I had the corn nuggets to start, yum! We finished them easily, they were so good. Then the entree of my chicken tenders, beans, and Mac and cheese came out, along with my sweet tea. The sweet tea was perfect, I drank a whole one during my meal and they gave me another to go in the souvenir Gus's cup. The food was just great, chicken was juicy and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Beans and Mac and cheese, delicious! I ate all of it even though I was stuffed. I even went so far as to order a piece of pecan pie for dessert, but unfortunately our server came back out to tell us they were out of it! Guess it wasn't meant to be (this time)! Our server was really friendly during our whole meal, chatted with us a little and made sure we had a great experience! Bottom line.... Go to Gus's!

Brisket Combo $27 comes atop bread, it was very soft in texture, oily, vs my preferred slab of smoked beef with grainy texture intact. The crispy burnt ends were delish tho accompanied by a rack with about 1/3? less ribs. Ribs $27.50 Lg order became more meaty as I made way to small end and leftovers tasted even better next day. Dry rub is excellent black pepper, onion garlic, baked beans tangy n bit sweet, while the BBQ sauce, Hot and Regular in squeeze bottles, along with a mustard yellow coleslaw in deep plastic solos, were more vinegar forward than I recall. It definitely gave me a pucker and took me to almost end of first sitting to acclimate to that level of tang. By the next day, you are almost craving it lol so it's a building up your sour puss or maybe that it tames and mellows out somewhat next day haha. Mesquite smoke permeates the air and the ribs and that's a good thing, yum! Traffic IPA 12oz draft, a local Crosstown Brewing West Coast paired well, crisp, hoppy, light head, citrus pine & mango notes, Award winning wow just $4.75?!! Mid Coast CA Parker Station is a $10-14 Pinot Noir. Good $10 pour, easy to sip, just ok 3/5 fruity vanilla spice and deep thick color akin to a merlot in taste and body. A bottled GF beer was tasty and v pleasing to our guest. Family reunion dinner for hubby, his brother, niece, & great nephews. Everyone left full and fulfilled in their nostalgia filled bites down Rendezvous lane. Robert Jr gave us excellent service, patient as our guests arrived very late and happy to take pictures, a welcome about face from a previous salty, no nonsense server ;D

The side of bbq beans was perfect for my meal - my wife got the fries and said they were very good. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive and timely. She kept tabs on us without overdoing it. The prices here are also reasonable considering the location. The amount of food you get is a very good deal! *We also got a side of dry rub wings. They came out piping hot, but once they cooled down they were delicious!! The next time I head back to Memphis, I'll most likely return to The Pig!!

No music playing, and the touch tunes was down. Just one lonely tv playing cable tv above the bar. Bar had maybe a selection of 3 beers and 4 cocktail/Seltzer cans. I didn't see an ounce of liquor. The men of our party when using the bathroom said the toilet was infested with buzzing flies. The ladies room had an off smell, and we had to fight the nearly empty bottle to get soap to wash our hands. Family of five shared the family feast. The slab of ribs were super tender and fall off the bone but had absolutely no flavor at all besides the baked on bbq slapped on the top. The pulled pork was kind of cold and also had no seasoning or marinade. The chicken wings had some seasoning on top but no flavor inside besides some old fry grease flavoring. We were given a warm bottle of barbecue sauce but the bottle was so nasty and concerning no one at our table was brave enough to use it. Platter had Your average sliced white bread on side. The collard greens were praised by the whole table and was knocked out by everyone first. Service was good, but I would surely hope with being the only patrons inside for a whole hour besides a to go order. Restaurant desperately needs some TLC and some deep cleaning. Seasoning or a marinade needed on the meats as well. I would have to give it a hard pass next time.

The problem is the food lacks flavor, the meat "barely" had a smoked/BBQ'd taste, the potato salad consisted of very firm cubed potatoes in a mayo/mustard blend with no seasoning (except for paprika on top).

Wet Willie's specializes in frozen drinks which is needed when you're walking in the 90 degree heat. I ordered the green apple drink and I loved it. I wish more places carried green apple flavored drinks. The drink did not taste strong but you may feel it after a while. They also provide signature mixes which is their version of a frozen cocktail. They looked good so I may have to try it next time. I love how frozen drink bars are starting to expand from just New Orleans and Vegas. I'm hoping it's a trend that keeps growing.

I ordered a couple of Buffalo Chicken Tacos, an avocado taco, and 18 wings with the flavors of honey gold, bourbon, and memphis buffalo. The tacos were great. I want to order some more. The wings are smoked with the sauce added later. The wings taste good but they are pretty expensive for what they are. People should try the wings but I prefer deep fried wings that hold the sauce better.

Recommend the pimento cheese bread sticks for appetizer or any other time. Also, this was the first time I've had a Kilkenny draft which was another highlight. I see now it's rare to find. Smooth and creamy. If I lived nearby, I would be here more often. It's a little on the expensive side, but well worth the price and experience. Just pointing it out to expect to pay, but also pointing out it was worth every cent.

Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere.
