Was in Memphis, TN a while back. We flew in and tried to find an eatery close by. We chose Big Bill's Bar-Be-Que. It was packed, but the wait wasn't long at all. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The atmosphere was excellent and the food was great! I had the brisket and pork butt and they both were fantastic! Heve eaten here about 5 times in several years. I like dry ribs the most. Big Bill's offers hot or mild wet ribs. These ribs are swimming in sauce, should be served in a bowl. If you like wet you will be crazy about these. The sauce is ok and the meat is pull off the bone like one would want. The staff is friendly. The customer service skills on the cashiers suck...she argue with me when their system was wrong and told me I would have to wait until Monday before my order could be looked at when I had paid and had 2 receipts. When I walked the cashier was playing and cussing at her coworkers and completely ignoring me so much that the cook had to take my order. While passing through Memphis, I thought I should try some Memphis-style bbq. I found Big Bill's Bbq, right down the street from Graceland, on Elvis Presley Blvd. It's a small, local restaurant that offers take-out, has a few booths and tables to dine-in, plus they offer catering. They sell local bbq favorites such as: 1/2 smoked chicken, pork shoulder, beef brisket, rib tips and turkey legs. They sell dinner plates, which include 2 sides, or you can buy it by the pound. Sides include potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and spaghetti. They also have burgers and sandwiches. I decided to go traditional and get a dinner plate. I asked the friendly lady behind the counter, which she recommends between the 1/2 smoked chicken and the beef brisket. Without hesitation, she said, "beef brisket". That sold me! You get a choice of hot or mild bbq sauce. I chose hot, with potato salad and baked beans as my sides. I was very pleased with my choice! The brisket was served in big chunks topped with the hot bbq sauce. I am impressed that it wasn't fatty at all. It was delicious! I've been rocking with Big Bill since I moved here in 2009 , portions were huge and I understand inflation happens but to pay X amount of $$$ for dried rib tips small portions it's gonna be hard for me to rock with ya when you cutting corners!!! While I was taking my best friend to Houston I had the honor to stop in several different cities on my way there and when you're in Memphis you got to have barbecue. It's not very big but I picked a good time to come as it started getting pretty busy after I got there. I knew I'd made a good choice as many people had called ahead for take out. There's not much to look st as far as decor but I'm here for the food and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the half rack of ribs and it came with cole slaw and two slices of white bread. I added a side of potato salad. The cribs were mouthwatering good with meaty bones and a spot on sauce to die for. Probably the best cole slaw and potato salad I've ever had. They do something different that I couldn't quite pinpoint just know I'd go with them again. You can't go wrong here and if I'm ever back down this way I'd go again in a heartbeat. read more
