Overall just mid. Service took forever. Loud music the waitress couldn't even hear us. Music isn't bad but Spotify with ads on Beale street?? Pay the money for premium at least. This sandwich was okay but not for the price. My brother had a half rack of ribs. Worst in the city so far.

After a Stevie Nicks concert, we--and many many others--filed into the Pig for dinner. When we arrived it wasn't too busy but it was packed by the time we left. The aesthetic is hole in the wall, off the map BBQ joint, though it's on Beale and very much in the mix of things. The BBQ was pretty good and plentiful. The service was mediocre (even before it got crowded--nonexistent thereafter), and the price per plate is where it lost another star from me.

Was looking for a spot to escape the Liberty Bowl parade & hang out for a beer. The Pig seemed a good spot since they offered good bbq & permitted under 21s. We sat ourselves at a booth before the onslaught of folks who swarmed in 15 minutes after us when the parade was over. Lucky we did! We ordered a full rack of bbq ribs & slaw and a local dark amber beer (can't recall the name now) & a sweet tea. The rib order was a long well seasoned & smoked 12 bone slab. Waaay more than we needed! Once we started it was truly hard to stop. They were smoked nicely. Succulent & very flavorful. I especially liked the "SPICY" sauce available on the table. Not really spicy at all but had several layers of flavor that really complimented the rib flesh. If you dipped the meat like sushi & don't drown it...my preference anyway. Go & enjoy. It's simple solid fare & the servers were genuine & friendly.

3 stars sums up the experience pretty well. I had the pulled pork dinner. - Not the best pulled pork, but good - Portions not the biggest, but not small - Service not the best, but certainly not bad - Prices not the cheapest, but not outrageous On the list of factors I used to judge my experience, this was basically average. I was satisfied, but not thrilled.

While passing through Memphis, I looked for a place to get BBQ for dinner. My husband and I tried here because he was specifically in the mood for a pulled pork sandwich. It was because I couldn't narrow down what I wanted that I got the Sampler! The pulled pork was very tender and delicious, and the chicken thighs had an incredible crunchy coating with well seasoned meat. I was slightly disappointed in the ribs, however, because while the sauce was amazing, the meat was not fall of the bone tender. I did enjoy the collard greens, which had a little bit of spice that complimented the meats well. Service was not super fast, but our food did come out quickly once we ordered. This place is not upscale by any means, in desperate need of an updating, but the food is good and worth the stop.

I rarely give these bad reviews, and that's maybe because I rarely get bad service. I usually do a good job at selecting the best places to dine at, but I failed my selection this time. I know there's better bbq in Memphis, but I chose this place based on them being conveniently located close to the FedExForum. The restaurant was half full, and we got a table right away, but it took forever to get our order in. There was only one server, working the entire dining room. But she seemed a little lost at times. She was very nice, and I really felt bad for her. The service I received was definitely not because of her but of management. I've usually added a star here and there because of service, but I will not do such thing for Pig on Beale. They frankly don't deserve anything extra. Because the long wait wasn't the worst part. I'm a very patient and understanding guy, and I'm well aware that we're still in a pandemic, but this is when I expect the owners to assist their employees. Not leave one person to work an entire dining area on her own. My wife ordered their BBQ Nachos. The price on these nachos was $15. By far the worst nachos I have ever seen for the price. Once I saw those nachos, I literally asked my wife if we should just leave or politely decline this plate. We unfortunately did neither, my only regret that day. I decided to order their regular rack of ribs with a side of bbq beans. The beans were not edible. Tasted old and just not good at all. The whole plate was served on a white paper plate with no knife. It's not like their ribs were super tender fall of the bone. They were over cooked and very tough. Lacked any smokiness to them and just very difficult to eat. When we asked for a refill, we were told "absolutely, but it's going be be awhile." There's absolutely nothing worse than going out of town and just getting a very poor dining experience all the way through. I've had bad service but delicious ass food, or great service and mediocre tasting food, but never this bad. I will definitely not be returning here.

Real Memphis barbecue on Beale Street. They are a little pricey, but worth it. Tasty pork sandwich with pickles and sauce. $35 for 2 sandwiches. The service was good and fast. I had to hurry since I was on a tour, so I got the sandwiches to go. The restaurant was clean and full of fun iconic pictures.

The pulled pork plate with coleslaw and potato salad was very good. It was quiet at 7pm on a monday with a game starting. Beale st is always a sight to see...

This location is a large building with lots of seating options. I had to try Central as it keeps winning awards and is consistently mentioned as the top BBQ place in the Memphis area. Some of their awards were displayed at the entrance and on the walls. Lots of history. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and had the slaw on the side so I could have it (she's not a slaw fan). I had the small order of ribs with 1/2 dry and 1/2 wet with sides of BBQ Beans and Mac n Cheese. I tried the pulled pork and it was tender and delicious. My ribs were pretty good with my favorite part being the wet ribs. The dry part was overcooked and really dry and chewy. This was a bit of a disappointment. The BBQ beans were flavorful but a bit mushy. The Mac n cheese also mushy a bit but tasted better than it looked. I love great BBQ so I like Central BBQ but may have caught them on a bad day. Oh, they were out of a lot of T Shirt options/size I wanted too. Darn. I wanted to buy one. I would return and try the brisket, pulled pork or poultry items next time.

There was a time when Central barbecue was the only place I would eat barbecue in Memphis. But food…read moreand service has ruined that. I visited the downtown location on 5/24/26 at 6:15 PM. I ordered wings and two dry slabs of ribs. When my family and I finally decided to eat the ribs on Monday, they were disgusting. They had seasoning caked all on them, and they were overly salty. We wiped off the caked-on seasoning and tried to eat around the saltiness. I was praying the 2nd slab was not the same. When I opened them on 5/27 to see, they were the same. I was trying to avoid calling because I just didn't feel like being bothered. But I called. I left a message for the manager to return my call that morning because "he is in the middle of an interview." So I called back that afternoon and was transferred to Ethan. I explained the situation to him. As I was speaking, he kept making the noise un-huh. So, I stopped talking and asked him what it meant aside from it just being rude as hell. He went on to explain that they missed a step and did not rub in the seasoning and shake it off. I don't care. It's an internal quality issue that should be handled with the prep and cook staff. Not me. He asked if I had my receipt and, in a tone that suggested he was doing me a favor, advised me that he would replace the slab. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything.   After my long workday, I went all the way downtown to get the slab replaced. In person, Ethan is just as rude. I asked if he was going to replace both slabs. He could clearly see the quality was trash. He said no and that he would only replace one. Then went on to offer me sides and a slice of cake. No, thank you. I can afford sides and cake just like I did those trash slabs of ribs. Those slabs of ribs cost $62.40 before taxes. With taxes probably being another 5 or 6 dollars. Your mistakes and poor quality should not cost me. He had a young lady bring the replacement slab back out to me. She didn't say thank you or anything. One thing I know is that a white man or woman patronizing your business would not have been treated this way. As a result, moving forward I will spend my Black woman dollars elsewhere on barbeque and smoked chicken wings. Also, I removed you all from my company's approved catering list where we spend a nice amount with you all yearly. Tell Ethan, thanks for helping me see the light and not spend money where I'm not respected and where my customer experience isn't valued.

There is plenty of parking in a lot across the street. We went inside and found it to be pretty busy, but we got a table for 4 quickly. The place was clean and homey-feeling and I loved the fact that they used disposable plates, utensils and napkins! It is probably way easier on the crew to clean up, and it adds to the relaxed atmosphere. I had the corn nuggets to start, yum! We finished them easily, they were so good. Then the entree of my chicken tenders, beans, and Mac and cheese came out, along with my sweet tea. The sweet tea was perfect, I drank a whole one during my meal and they gave me another to go in the souvenir Gus's cup. The food was just great, chicken was juicy and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Beans and Mac and cheese, delicious! I ate all of it even though I was stuffed. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, making it a comfortable spot to grab a bite. I wasn't really a fan of the mac and cheese, as it leaned way too heavily on the processed cheese flavor and ended up overly cheesy in a not-so-great way. The texture and taste reminded me more of melted processed cheese than a rich, homemade mac and cheese. However, the service was delightful and easily made up for some of the disappointment with the sides. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the visit. While not everything hit the mark for me, the great service and tasty fried chicken make Gus's worth trying if you're in the mood for comfort food.
