Loved the ambiance, the owner was helpful, kind and sweet. Our breakfast sandwiches were packed with freshly cooked scrambled eggs, ham, bacon and cheese; fresh and hot right off the grill. Their gigantic chocolate chip cookie was soft, chewy and sweet. She had so many goods to sell, lots of seating; indoors and out with a lovely view of the town. I ordered hot Italian and food was ok. Not impressive, maybe I'm spoiled by other better sandwiches. Inside is spacious and has a lot of seating which is good. The part that annoys me the most is that they only have one restroom and there seems to be always a line to wait. read more

Amazing coffee and cookies! Definitely recommend this place for a smooth and toasty cup of joe! The coffee is locally roasted in Kernville. The service was friendly and professional, and the place was cute, and had plenty of seating. Aside from coffee and bakery items, the coffeehouse also offers sandwiches and salads for a quick bite. We ordered a few hot coffee beverages and hot cocoa plus two giant chocolate chip and their bear track cookie. Both were tasty, however, the bear track cookie was amazing. It is a chocolate chip cookie with coconut, macadamia nuts, and tons of butter!! It was soft and chewy with crunchy edges. Definitely a winner. Enjoy! read more

I love this spot! I didn't know they stoped making breakfast at 11am & came past 11, they gladly made my breakfast still & the cook was very kind! One of the ladies even helped me & told me which shops to find cute stickers at haha Super nice! As for the food, it was really good! Nice & simple. Came in today while walking around to have some coffee. We had some iced lattes on this 100 degree day. Nice atmosphere, pretty busy and delicious treats available. They also sell local honey and some clothing of the business and surrounding area. Very cute spot to stop in, read a book, have a meeting, and grab a bite or drink. This place is so cute. I got the breakfast sandwich croissant and it was so good. The coffee drinks were good as well. The inside is old western themed and rustic. We took our grandchildren for ice cream, and we were all super-impressed. It's a quaint cafe/restaurant with mountain-country decor and ambiance. The service was superior and the portions they served for the ice cream were more than we expected. The kids and my husband each ordered double scoops, and it was more than they could eat. There were gift items and merchandise for sale, as well. We won't hesitate going back again on our next visit to Kernville. read more

Big Blue Bear is one of best deals in town. We can stop in and get a delicious $.50 ice cream cone, yes only $.50. My daughter loves going to the local Riverside Park to play then we stop in for a little treat and relax in the cool pleasant surroundings. This is one of my favorite places to go to get the best veggie sandwich and Iced Americano. Michelle, the owner and friendly staff are always pleasant and generous. They also have a bar where you can enjoy some vino or a ice cold beer. Michelle is always working to improve things and adding fun decor. If you are looking for a gift you always find fun collectibles and art for sale. This place is pretty popular with the tourists so sometimes there is a line but I've never had to wait very long for my order. In fact they are waiting for me to come get it because I probably started chatting up my neighbor. They work hard to serve everyone as fast as possible. After driving in to town from Los Angeles, I told my husband I wanted to grab a couple of coffees before going to his office, but I wanted to support a small shop instead of going in the the grocery store where they have a coffee chain kiosk inside. I believe in supporting small business! We had tried to visit Old Isabella Coffee twice before, but it was later in the afternoon and they were closed. I decided to give them a pass and try again since it's earlier. But today, we arrived before 1pm and parked. I went up the stairs to their entry door and it seemed very dark inside. The door was locked, and only then did I realize the blinds were closed. I checked the posted hours and they close at 1pm daily, but apparently they closed early on this day. A Friday, in a town that often leans on "weekenders" for increased business volume. While looking for the posted hours I saw the very friendly sign which shows a revolver pointing forward so you can look down the barrel of the gun and they proudly announce that there's nothing inside worth dying for. How warm and inviting! Well I, for one, was really looking forward to an amazing coffee beverage "to die for".. but now I know this won't be my place locally. I've tried 3 times and found myself alone at their place of business. In retrospect, the 3 ladies at the Starbucks inside the Vons store had a LINE of people waiting to buy coffee, snacks and lunch. As I joined the line, I casually said "I guess this is the place for great coffees in town!" and two of the guys in line said "they're reliably open, the service is great and have decent hours during the day". They were wearing yellow vests, maybe guys working on the street improvements or employees from SCE? If i owned a small business in a small town, i would definitely be pandering to just this type of customer. Extend operating hours, offer discounts to these contractors to bring them in daily! The guys said they're at Starbucks more than once a day, every day. That's a lot of opportunity lost to the little, local guy. So while I'm not usually a Starbucks person, when in KRV apparently they will be my go-to from now on. I tried to support local, but wasn't getting the support in return.

My wife is typically not one to complain but even she disliked her burger. My buddy didn't even eat his. There is no way local people are coming to eat here.
