Not to many choices up here so here we are. They have a new menu, so I order the bacon blue burger for $12.99 comes with fries. I up grade to chili cheese fries for an additional $3.99 so for a burger and chili cheese fries I'm paying $17. WTF big boy??? I can see paying that in the city for a good burger, this isn't the city and this is t a good tasting burger. If this place makes it another year I'll be surprised. $46 at big boy, never again...NEVER

Leaves in my waffles. Will not be eating here again. Food took a little too long to come out for our 13 party table.

I wasn't sposed to be in Bad Axe. I lost my phone service and internet, therefore my Google Maps and GPS as well, up in Port Austin and didn't have a map so instead of driving southwest down the west side of the thumb I turned straight south and ended up here. But it's a nice little town and I liked it. And it was only 15 miles out of my way. I drove up and down the main street of Bad Axe and did a little Yelp research before deciding to just eat at the Big Boy's. I got a nice waitress who worked with me so I could get what I wanted, which was a bowl of Broccoli Soup, a Slim Jim sandwich, no fries, and a piece of Strawberry Pie. The soup was very chunky and good. The Slim Jim seemed way smaller than I remembered from having it in the past, and pretty bland. I added salt & pepper. The pie was good but had an artificial topping. Strawberry Pie is best with real whipped cream, not that stuff that leaves an oily, gummy coating in your mouth. I'm giving it 4 stars mainly because I had such a good waitress (the receipt said Jessica) and because the meal hit the spot. And because there is something comfortable about going in a place you are familiar with, even if it is a chain.

Check it out if you like to have traditional American style ambiance. Can be slower at times without appropriate cause The Big Boy classic is the legend to always order it is the sister rivalry to the classic Mc e Dees - Big Mac! I am writing this extra to fill in the word requirements of the Yelping required average length of a comment. Count the words I think I am over the requirements but , continue will not highlight up, what gives YELP!

    Chewy fries.

The place is closing down very soon. I love Big Boy burgers & onion rings. What will I do now?

The Lazy Toaster - Breakfast menu

It pains me to leave a mere two-star review but I couldn't find much to like here. The quaint…read moreambience, friendly service (we were one of the first guests to arrive on a Friday morning mid-May) and fresh brewed decaf were the highlights. The food, which is most important, was a big disappointment. I am a cinnamon roll connoisseur and was so excited to try the rolls that past Yelpers raved about. They were out of caramel today so we ordered the grilled roll with pecans and homemade buttercream frosting. It looked dry and tasted even drier. Barely warm, flourey and tasteless. The frosting was the best part. The menu of choices looks wonderful and diverse for a small cafe. I was delighted to see shrimp and grits. The skillet was very small, the food was hot (a plus) but it was heavy on the grits, which lacked flavor and space on shrimp (only 4), sausage and sauce. I ate the toppings with half the grits and left the rest. My husband ordered the hoagie sandwich with hash browns. His comment was "a lot of bread and minimal filling" with "luke warm" hash browns that were more spongy than crispy. It's hard to go wrong with breakfast, but somehow Lazy Toaster has missed the mark. The concept is fun, the menu is great, yet the recipes and preparation could use some major improvements. The tab ($41 for two) was not bad, but was high for the quality. We liked the decor yet felt the cleanliness was lacking (sticky floors and no paper towels in the bathroom). A breakfast place in East Tawas is a plus; I hope this cafe commits to some improvements and stays around.

Accompanying hash browns were equally well made and tasty where just the right amount of grease/butter was used to make my food (no greasy food here!). This all too often is an issue you see with these small breakfast centric restaurants up north that I was so pleased not to see here at the Lazy Toaster. Relative to the restaurant and staff, Lazy Toaster has a nice comfortable rustic "Up north" feel to it which I enjoyed where the staff was super friendly with great follow up throughout the meal and and where they are definately on top of their game when it comes to Coffee top-offs. Nice! Overall, this is definately one of the better breakfast spots in the greater Tawas/Oscoda/Harrisville area and is now on my short list of go to restaurants in the area.
