Well..... Im in the industry so wait times for seats, greets and food to table I am very patient for in these pandemic times. What I dont have patience for is a server who doesn't make sure my food is cooked to order or who doesn't have the time to stop and actually care how our food is... Don't ask me her name cause she had NO name tag and NEVER introduced herself and when she checked on us she answered her own question of " How is everything? Good. Ok." And left! Its been a year since we last visited Nicks as we live out of state and nicks never disappoints. The portions are huge and the food is fresh and delicious. I usually order the grilled chicken Greek salad which is loaded with feta cheese, kalamata olives, etc and comes with soft pita bread and Nicks amazing homemade greek dressing. My mom ordered the Reuben which was piled high with homemade corned beef-also very delicious. My dad and husband ordered burgers which are hand pressed angus beef cooked to order. Cass city is in Michigan Central thumb area, almost dead center. Another small community surround completely by farms or state parks. Cass City has a small hospital and a couple of other small shops and services. Nick's Country was an Arby's or Wendy's, its across the street from the local McDonald's - I guess they only allow one national fast food chain per town. Nick's is a dinner, a set menu - breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, and half dozen dinner options, with daily specials. Very friendly wait staff, and if I was in Cass City more than once a year, I'm sure they would even know my name. Its a nice place to sit down and catch up on the local going on's - from the high school football to people moving in or out of town. I had the Smothered Meatloaf (onions, mushrooms & peppers in gravy over large meatloaf chunks). Fantastic! Beans and mashed potatoes on the side. The food here is always good! You get a lot of food for your money also! The service is always polite and quick to your table. The only down side is that they are ALWAYS busy! We ate at Nick's a couple times with family (we're from out of the area) at their suggestion while in The Thumb of Michigan. Their menu is varied - steaks, chicken, pasta, fish, burgers - The servers were pleasant and locals frequent this establishment. The best sandwich in the Thumb is the chicken bacon swiss sandwich from Nick's! The bacon is thick and the fries are delicious. It will fill you up. The chicken has a great taste and I am not sure what they use for a marinate but it is perfect for the chicken and for this sandwich. It is a must try! Their break fasts are very good as well. Nicks country oven is by far the best place to eat in tuscola county. The service is amazing and the food is excellent. The waitresses always serve with a smile. We very much enjoy going to Nick's. They have a full Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Menu and with Breakfast served all day, even better. We really enjoy the food here.
