Absolutely loved this place. Quaint and historic in a beautiful little village. The food was amazingly good. My wife especially raved about the fried bologna. Really hefty portions will for sure fill you up. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Service was excellent my coffee never hit bottom before a refill. Highly recommend you stop in and dine here.

Came back to have breakfast and am thoroughly disappointed. This is what they call eggs Benedict with their self proclaimed "famous " hollandaise sauce, oh please. Take a look at the picture, whoever sent that out should be fired. The "BIG" breakfast isn't even big enough for a child let alone an adult. Two eggs suppose to be three, bacon was burnt and tiny, sausages were good and the ham had a good taste just sliced paper thin and barely any hash browns. Service is so so, at least the waitress we had was so so. The one taking care of the people behind us is was good. No straws given, no napkins given and for being a new restaurant it seemed as if the silverware was used. If you don't mind flies buzzing around as you're trying to eat you'll love it here.

Checked out the new diner in town over the holiday weekend. For being a new business on a holiday weekend, everything was great from the service, food, and atmosphere. They had high chairs to accommodate children which was nice. The meats were delicious from the bacon, sausage, and ham. A great addition to the thumb.

Cute, clean diner with great food, great service and very reasonable prices. I will be back every time we are in Port Hope.

Food was really good. It is a very cute place. The waitress was a little discombobulated though, other than that everything was great.

We were greeted promptly, our order was taken when we were ready and the food arrived piping hot. Our coffee was filled without asking. These qualities aren't always present with many establishments. Heard the words please, thank you and you're welcome more times than I can count. Great staff. I ordered their most popular breakfast item: corned beef hash. It was perfect. Homemade fried potatoes, ample chunks of meat and eggs over medium that brought together all the flavors. The toast, rye, was yummy. They also have homemade white bread for toast, homemade donuts and cinnamon rolls. Again, another hallmark of a great diner: good cooks and bakers. My husband had the daily special: 2 eggs, meat, potatoes and toast. He said it was perfect. Walt's will be our go-to breakfast spot when near Caseville

There was a table of guys who clearly eat there every morning and it was fun hearing them joke with each other and with our server. The quaint…read moreambience, friendly service (we were one of the first guests to arrive on a Friday morning mid-May) and fresh brewed decaf were the highlights. The food, which is most important, was a big disappointment. I am a cinnamon roll connoisseur and was so excited to try the rolls that past Yelpers raved about. They were out of caramel today so we ordered the grilled roll with pecans and homemade buttercream frosting. It looked dry and tasted even drier. Barely warm, flourey and tasteless. The frosting was the best part. The menu of choices looks wonderful and diverse for a small cafe. I was delighted to see shrimp and grits. The skillet was very small, the food was hot (a plus) but it was heavy on the grits, which lacked flavor and space on shrimp (only 4), sausage and sauce. I ate the toppings with half the grits and left the rest. My husband ordered the hoagie sandwich with hash browns. His comment was "a lot of bread and minimal filling" with "luke warm" hash browns that were more spongy than crispy. It's hard to go wrong with breakfast, but somehow Lazy Toaster has missed the mark. The concept is fun, the menu is great, yet the recipes and preparation could use some major improvements. The tab ($41 for two) was not bad, but was high for the quality. We liked the decor yet felt the cleanliness was lacking (sticky floors and no paper towels in the bathroom). A breakfast place in East Tawas is a plus; I hope this cafe commits to some improvements and stays around.

Accompanying hash browns were equally well made and tasty where just the right amount of grease/butter was used to make my food (no greasy food here!). This all too often is an issue you see with these small breakfast centric restaurants up north that I was so pleased not to see here at the Lazy Toaster. Relative to the restaurant and staff, Lazy Toaster has a nice comfortable rustic "Up north" feel to it which I enjoyed where the staff was super friendly with great follow up throughout the meal and and where they are definately on top of their game when it comes to Coffee top-offs. Nice! Overall, this is definately one of the better breakfast spots in the greater Tawas/Oscoda/Harrisville area and is now on my short list of go to restaurants in the area.

Walking in feels like the universe hit pause somewhere in the best way. Same feel, same energy, same kind of place you can count on without thinking twice. It's like being teleported back to exactly where you're supposed to be. And the food? Exactly what it should be. No pretending to be healthy, no overthinking it. Just straight, unapologetic comfort. I go there for one thing every time: the hot beef sandwich. Massive. Smothered in gravy... and I mean gravy everywhere. The kind where you don't just eat it, you commit to it. Fries? Those are getting dipped in gravy too, no question. It's excessive in the best possible way. The portions are out of control. You're not finishing it. You're not even pretending to. You're leaving with enough leftovers for the next couple of days and you're not mad about it. It's the kind of meal that feels a little sinful, but worth every second. The 2nd thing was that we were charged .75 for an extra plate! Now, it isn't that i mind the charge, but we were not made aware of it when we ordered. Would we have been charged if we ate off the same plate? This kind of nickel and diming makes you not want to return. We paid cash, but beware they charge 3% for using a credit card. We won't return. We won't recommend. There are far better places to eat.
