Half a Slim Jim and French Fries
    Stephanie B.

Last night my Mom and I were coming home from Port Sanilac and we really wanted something for dinner. It was nearly 10:30pm so not much was open so we were delighted to see a Big Boy open. This was by far the cleanest and friendliest Big Boy I have been to. For late evening, the salad bar was nicely stocked. There was several other guest dinning in and nobody felt like a bother eating there so late. My Mom and I split a Slim Jim meal with fries and a chocolate chip cookie sundae. The cook was kind enough to put our meal on two separate plates with fries. Everything was fresh. Fries were piping hot and crispy. The cookie sundae was also very good. Warm gooey cookie topped with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge with a side of whipped cream and a cherry. Perfect for 2-3 people to split. Our bill was about $12 and we left completely full and satisfied. We're not in the area often but I'd come back to this location since it was quite memorable.

The food was very much like a Denny's or similar. The service was good, and the restaurant had a very old diner feel. A visit is recommended. :)

They have preserved the heritage and architecture so beautifully it gives the entire venue such a sophisticated, storied allure. The layout is simply divine. They offer a chic bar area, elegant indoor seating, and a breathtaking balcony that is absolutely the premier spot to watch the sunset over the water. It is a perfect 10/10 for ambiance alone! The hospitality was equally impressive. My waiter was remarkably gracious, walking me through a menu that surprisingly featured quite a few complimentary touches and wonderful selections. On his recommendation, I opted for the Lobster Corn Dog a delightfully whimsical, high-low culinary twist that was executed to perfection. During our lovely chat, the waiter mentioned they are under fabulous new ownership, and the passion truly shows. As someone newer to sharing my thoughts on Yelp, I can confidently say this is a premier destination that deserves a flawless score. A must-visit if you appreciate history, views, and impeccable charm!

We are so happy they keep their Korean fried cauliflower on the menu as this is one spectacular dish. We tried the flatbread pizza today, which was pretty good for what it was. The chocolate dessert was also pretty tasty but not sure we would get again. The service staff here is always friendly and attentive. We also like the overall vibe in this restaurant. We will return again.

Ambiance: The inside has black, white and red checkered floors, red tile walls, round red (with shiny flakes) counter stools and a vintage neon-ish clock. Service: the building is small, and the food is cooked in front of you. As soon as I walked in, the cook - David - cheerfully greeted me. Definitely a friendly, high energy guy, enthusiastically representing Detroit! Food: I ordered the striped catfish dinner with fries and coleslaw. The slaw was house-made with purple cabbage. I would have preferred the strips cut into smaller pieces. I could not identify the seasoning, it was ok. Maybe an acquired taste. The crinkle cut fries were also ok, I would have preferred seasoned though - probably frozen? The catfish, was taken out of refrigerator, battered and cooked in front of me. It was delicious! Gold corn meal, seasoning salt, pepper and maybe paprika? The way my late father used to do it! The 2 fillets were a generous size : 8 or so inches. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!
