We got breakfast today and it was delicious. I had the Carmel Cinnamon French Toast! It was so delicious! My best friend ordered the Big Boy and fries. Besides the French Toast delight! The atmosphere was really nice and they decorated the whole restaurant for Valentine's Day which was very pretty and festive! This place was so busy! I hate that a lot of them are closing up! This one is probably the only one that has the Big Boy Sign rotating around. I took 2 pictures I regret not taking photos of the inside of the restaurant. If I am ever visiting the area again I will definitely come back. The waitress was very nice and on top of things. I haven't eaten in a Big Boy in nearly 3 decades as there aren't many around anymore. My server has worked at this location for 39 years! I had the patty melt with onion rings. Had a yummy experience having breakfast at Big Boy! When we arrived, we were sat promptly. Our server was very kind and seemed super happy to be at work, which always adds a nice vibe. Last night my Mom and I were coming home from Port Sanilac and we really wanted something for dinner. It was nearly 10:30pm so not much was open so we were delighted to see a Big Boy open. This was by far the cleanest and friendliest Big Boy I have been to. For late evening, the salad bar was nicely stocked. There was several other guest dinning in and nobody felt like a bother eating there so late. My Mom and I split a Slim Jim meal with fries and a chocolate chip cookie sundae. The cook was kind enough to put our meal on two separate plates with fries. Everything was fresh. Fries were piping hot and crispy. The cookie sundae was also very good. Warm gooey cookie topped with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge with a side of whipped cream and a cherry. Perfect for 2-3 people to split. Our bill was about $12 and we left completely full and satisfied. We're not in the area often but I'd come back to this location since it was quite memorable. read more

The lettuce in the salad bar was yellow and discolored I ordered A Swiss Miss salad bar and onion rings. 2 of the soups were cold and the broccoli tub was empty . I was just there today with my fiancé, waited 5minutes before anyone came to our table and asked for our drinks. (I also had to wipe our own dirty table). When our server asked for our drinks we put in our WHOLE ORDER because we could tell the service wasn't going to be great. We then waited 15 minutes before we even got our waters. We finally got our drinks and a salad that came with my dinner meal. Another 40 minutes went by, empty cups of water, no appetizers in sight. I finally saw our food showing up from the kitchen and i watched as our server peaked at them but continued to take other orders and clean tables. Our food sat in the widow for 6 minutes and our appetizers and entrees came out at the same time. None of the food was worth coming back for. I got a chicken tender dinner which was as supposed to be 4 tenders and some fries. I got 7 burnt chicken tenders that tasted like old fryer oil and limp fries. My fiancé ordered a burger that she only took 2 bites of. Our appetizers were mozzarella sticks and a bowl of chili. Both were less than warm. I don't know what happened to this place but it used to be great. The owners must have changed. Without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had... food was actually o.k.... but the service and cleanliness of the place was terrible. From the moment we walked in, no one came to seat us, so we seated ourself, no one came to wait on us.... so we went and got someone .... a gal comes to the table and says "what can I get you".... well.. a couple menus would be good ?!! ...she runs off to get the menus,,.... table was dirty and actually had a coffee cup with coffee in it, on it. I looked over to one corner of the joint and there is a kid in a hoodie sitting at a high-top table, leaning against the wall in the dining area, SLEEPING with his mouth hanging open !! ?? WTH .... turns out the kid worked there ??? .... O.k.... so no one comes to take or order ... we go and get someone .... we finally order our food and we get the salad bar to go with it .... salade bar was pretty empty with most of the regular items missing and it was dirty!! ... total rip !! ... food came .... but no one ever came to check on us and see if we needed anything (and they WERE NOT BUSY either) .... no refills ... couldn't even get another water !! Was served raw chicken on my chicken caesar salad. I had already eaten half the salad before i noticed the raw meat. I told the manager and he took it off my bill but since i worked food service for many years i asked whether their cook had temped the chicken. HE SAID THEY DO NOT TEMP THEIR CHICKEN THEY JUST LOOK AT IT TO SEE IF IT LOOKS COOKED. This is not only dangerous but illegal. Every restaurant I've worked in has a meat thermometer and every single piece of chicken has to read 165 internal temp in order to be served for ensure all bacteria in the meat has been killed. The meat may look cooked but unless it is over 165 it is not safe to eat. I cant believe management allows this i am disgusted and mind blown. He blamed it on the new cook, but if you dont teach your cooks the dangers of raw meat and how to cook it PROPERLY, how will they know any better. read more

If you are looking for a longtime chain restaurant that has consistently solid food and great customer service, this is the place to go in Fort Gratiot. I love the wait staff here. They go above and beyond. Maybe I am biased because she is a close family friend, but Annie has been my favorite for years (though I haven't seen her lately). Her and my mom worked together at Howard Johnson's (for those of us who have been around long enough to remember) and all this time she still has the best smile and attitude when you come in. She is a joy to be around. But the others on staff are a blast as well. I love their wit and their energy. And the food. I am a Super Big Boy and onion ring fan. I truly miss the soup and salad bar currently not available due to executive orders but can say the soups are the best of any restaurant (my absolute favorite being the cream of broccoli followed by the cabbage). My daughter also really enjoyed the best cheeseburger in the planet when we went in last weekend. The only reason we don't go in more is because my family of 5 can eat and it's about $75 with tip, which without the salad bar is a tad too much on a regular basis. My husband and I come here when we can't agree on whether we're in the mood for breakfast or lunch! My husband loves the burgers & soups, and I always order the pancakes -- they have a slight sweet taste to them that all the other chain restaurants don't have, and it's delicious! The desserts all look amazing, but I can't say for sure, because we are always beyond full by the time we finish our meals -- the portions are very generous!!! We've found the morning/early afternoon staff to be so much better than the late afternoon/early evening staff. The two times we visited during the late afternoon, the waitresses seemed more caught up in their personal lives than to care about refilling our drinks or providing us with napkins. But whenever we dine here in the morning or early afternoon, we are always treated like valued customers. We see the same waitresses working in the mornings, and we are very fond of them! read more

My meal wasn't prepared the way I asked, a couple items were missing and they packed cold food with the hot food and it melted down the cold item (a cream pie). Normally we have minor issues here but this weekend we were very disappointed. We ordered a carryout order and they forgot my strawberry pie and as my husband is eating his burger he noticed it was uncooked, it was red! So, I called, the manager said that we would be put down for a super big boy sandwich and a piece of strawberry pie for the next time we came in. The next night we went in to have dinner and I asked if I could have a regular big boy instead of the super big boy, manager said no problem so I ordered the big boy with fries. I know it's only a few dollars and a minor thing but they still charged me for an order of fries. I have been in the food industry and there's no way I would have done that. if your a door dasher, don't accept orders from here. They wouldn't give me the food even with proof on my phone I was a door dasher, and had to cancel my order which dropped my rating from 100% to 83% since I'm fairly new. Every time we visit family in the area we have to have Big Boy at least once. I'm a huge fan of Slim Jim with fries and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. If I get to eat there twice I usually go with the fish and chips. This visit was just as satisfying as always. The kids had pancakes and hotdogs and everybody else had sandwiches. Quick service, good food, good prices. And a classic car show as well. I wish we had Big Boy locally where we are now. read more
