Found Taylor's Kitchen on our way to a wedding out-of-town. It's a small diner with a lot of character. The best part of our experience was the service. Everyone was super-friendly and welcoming, and the business appears to be women-owned. We enjoyed chatting with our server and she gave us some great suggestions for Detroit activities. I enjoyed the coffee, Western omelette, and the toast. The bacon was a bit chewy and the home fries more resembled hash browns. My favorite little breakfast spot (also lunch, but trust me order breakfast). They have amazing omelets with huge portion sizes and great skillets, but I always get the Monte Cristo, its not deep fired and greasy, its light an fluffy with slabs of ham. Keep an eye on the specials, they had an amazing spicy sausage gravy a couple of weeks ago and my son still talks about missing the stuffed French toast when he forgot to read the board. The staff is amazing and attentive; you definitely get the small town diner vibe here. This is a family run business and you will most likely see the owner at the grill. The location is located in a small shopping center and is on the far end! We were greeted with smiles and a Big Welcome upon arrival and told to sit wherever we prefer! What a great find. We went here for breakfast 2 days in a row. food is over priced and cooked half ass. ordered a chicken pita no tomato. food came found tomato on it. waitress took it back to the kitchen to fix it and brought it back within 120 seconds. The plate wasn't fixed they just pulled off tomatos that were in the open end and brought it back out. The kitchen staff had the nerve to say "sorry I couldn't fix your pita" you could have fixed it but you just decided to try and pull a scumbag move by changing plates and pulling off the tomato's from the open end and doing nothing else. it should have been remade in whole. IF YOU MESS UP AND ORDER AND ARE GOING TO FIX IT THEN FIX IT. the only reason this place has 4 stars is because of all the old people that come eat breakfast. It is hard to say anything favorable about this restaurant as I have never been inside. Last Friday, my family were intending to have breakfast there as my niece and her family were preparing to return home to Pennsylvania. My niece had seen a favorable review and thought we all might enjoy gathering there. I arrived first at 8:45 a.m. The sign over the door said "open." The sign on the door said they open at "7 a.m. until...," we likely would not be eating breakfast that long. A natty looking sign beside the door said: "closed." The door was very much locked, the lights were off, and when I called the phone number, nobody was home. I've tried calling several times to see if they changed their hours, if they moved down the street, if they have gone out of business. No answer. Does anybody know? read more

We ordered carryout I ordered a country omelet the portion was pretty skimpy it was good though my fiance ordered a western omelet and received a pretty skimpy portion as well normally there is much more it's pretty sad when you're still hungry after eating it all also I always have leftovers for next day not this time We're pretty disappointed hopefully next time will be better. read more

Doesn't look like much but looks are Deceiving. This little diner is so homey and cozy It makes me feel like I'm on vacation in the south. The old country decor and the atmosphere itself is so warm and inviting. Don't be fooled though.,that's no greasy short order cook in the back that's chef Jeff..... and a chef he is.... First of all this little diner smokes their own meats, which is pretty surprising. Seems like everything on the menu was pretty much scratch made. Country fried steak breakfast was so good ..my daughter had breakfast roll up and added fresh mushrooms..the cowboy burger was huge it had that house smoked pulled pork on top a big onion ring and barbecue sauce it's pretty amazing. Hubs go to club sandwich was big and good. The sausage gravy is really good. The only thing that I didn't care for was the biscuit. They said they are home made, but it wasn't crusty like it was fresh, it was soft like it had been warmed up in a microwave. That was the only disappointment. I'll keep going back, just won't get a biscuit. I know that I had a mushroom Swiss burger ( fresh mushrooms, I do not like canned mushrooms so I ask before I order anywhere) but apparently I gobbled it before I took a pic which is strange since I took a pic of everyone else's? Recently reopened with new owners, they did a refresh on the restaurant, but it still has the charm of a classic diner. The food is fresh and homemade, with huge portions for breakfast. They still have the huge pieces of country ham and great omelets. Service can be a little slow when they are packed, but it is worth the wait. Great little corner restaurant. We were staying in Taylor during a bad wind storm and our hotel power was out the last 20 hours of our stay, so we rolled into Taylor's Kitchen the next morning tired, with dead phone batteries, in general disarray, etc. The staff let us charge our phones, brought us enough coffee to fill our 20-ounce travel cups, and fed us an amazing homestyle breakfast.
