Thought it was a quality over quantity thing, but boy I was wrong. It's a quaint family owned business not a very big place. You order from the counter and they bring your order to the table or counter. The Pares Mami was tasty but portion wise it was kind of small for the price. My son was still hungry so I gave him some of my Filipino Bagnet- crispy pork belly. I was disappointed that the pork belly was not crispy with the crackling skin. My husband had the Garlic Fried chicken it was crispy but didn't have much garlic taste. Grabbed some normal and garlic rice, along with some wings to compliment our dinner this evening-we also opted for the gravy which that alone can be a dish. Chicken was tender with the breading crisp and delicious, the rice a nice amount of sticky consistency with the gravy complimenting it very good. Yes I'll admit I dipped my chicken in the gravy and I must say, it was the best decision ever because the flavors were just out of this world. We picked up the food to take it home, and received it promptly without a long wait. This place continues to impress-even with the weight of the word on their shoulders, they continue to strive. This place is GOOD! We decided to stop by and get a few things to take with us on a drive, and we picked up the pork belly sisig fries, fried chicken adobo moco with garlic rice and lumpia, and some ube malasadas. While everything was tasty, those pork belly fries were my FAVORITE! The fried chicken adobo moco was good too, but the gravy makes the chicken really soggy - it would be great if the gravy was served on the side so we could pour it over the food when we were ready to eat. The serving of rice was also huge! Everything was served hot and fresh in handy foil bowls so that we could close up and eat in portions throughout the day - the servings are large so you could easily split entrees or just save some for later. One thing about the malasadas were that they're pretty darn greasy, so I had to take some tissues to it and try to dab or squeeze out some of the oil so that I could eat more without my stomach getting too upset with me. I feel like this review should be lengthy, because everything was so good. Unfortunately, I am not one of those people who can turn a 2 paragraph paper, into a 15 page paper. How the hell do you guys do it? Anyway, back on topic. First of all, they are offering free delivery during quarantine. That's so nice, and completely unnecessary. I was so surprised by this spot. I didn't know what kinda place it was that my hubby had suggested that we try. I looked at the menu and somehow I found myself order a bit of everything. I had to have a side of lumpia Shanghai to share with my lil one. They were so freshly fried. They were great, with the sweet chili sauce and everything. My hubby, lil one and I all gobbled those up.Yum! We also ordered their malasadas, 1/2 use filled and 1/2 Nutella filled, for dessert. It wasn't either of those things. It was so tasty and so nicely done. All th flavors complimented one another and nothing was too over powering. My hubby had the sisig fries with an over easy egg on top. If you like sisig and those salty, crispy bits, this is the dish for you. The waffle fries underneath are perfect for scooping up some of the good stuff. The sauce and the egg yolk combine for a perfectly salty sauce-gravy on top of everything else. You can't go wrong with these. I did spend a bit more than I was hoping but you know what, that $7 large calamansi juice with the lychee jelly in it was damn worth it!! I'm used to paying $5-7 for boba drinks in So Cal. So, this was right up that same alley as far as price point. I wish our boba spots out here would serve calamansi but it really was because they don't that it made this drink that much more special. The owner happened to come in along with his wife and so we had to tell him about our experience and how we really liked their food. Of course we hadn't sampled everything but of what we did have, we sang some high praises. This was my first time here but it won't be my last. First stop after the airport was for good food! Found this place and couldn't say no. They have a food truck too if you're lucky enough to stumble across it. Went for the PORK BELLY SISIG FRIES. The fries were smothered in sauce and covered in meat. They looked heavy but were surprisingly perfect. It had so many rich flavors but were balanced by the perfect amount of citrus. Must've been calamansi or something. We finished the whole container. The LUMPIA were awesome as always. Good portion and perfectly crispy. I am from out of town, but one of the things I love to do while traveling is to try new food and restaurants. I love Filipino food and happened to look up some places in Kent when I stumbled across Kainan. Was super excited to try as Filipino food is hard to come by for me. However, the food was highly disappointing for me. Ordered the lechón kawali and lumpia. Lechón Kawali: About 25% of the pork belly that came in the order was entirely fat. On top of that, it felt over cooked and chewy. Tried eating it with the adobo sarsa and special sauce (condensed milk?) but couldn't get over the dryness. The garlic rice had good flavor, however was too soggy and mushy. Overall would not recommend this dish. Did not live up to my expectations. Lumpia has good flavor and crispness to eat. Have bee wanting to come here for awhile we were at the cemetery and decided to stop in for lunch. Food came out pretty fast was hot and flavorful. Dad had the Lechon Kawali and O had the calamansi ginger chicken you have the option of having the chicken fried or grilled. I went with the fried. For 50 cents more you can have garlic rice instead of white rice so we both got garlic and lychee lemonades. Reading other reviews it sounds like the food can be hit or miss. We had a great experience with service and food. They're served in tin foil containers so if you have any leftover its easy to throw a cover on. I'm not sure if it's always been this way or because if covid. But you get pretty generous portions so it's nice to be able to do that. If I want a good laugh I read City of Kent's Twitter feed. Fire emoji! They got jokes (lookin at you, Auburn lol) but not only that they're informative too. They recently posted that September is Ethnic Food Month and Big Boys was one of the highlighted restaurants. About a month ago my friend and I visited Big Boys so we could get our lumpia and musubi fix. Yup, feeling those positive island vibes that day. We headed down to the busy intersection at 212th and E Valley Hwy. I stayed in the car while my friend went inside to pick up the order. I guess customer service wasn't a strong point that day since nobody was monitoring the front but eventually an employee came from the back to give us the to-go order. They give a lot of lumpia so my friend and I shared. Gotta eat 'em while they're fresh and hot! We couldn't eat all of them because we had musubi to eat too. I have not been to this place for over 3 years. Because of lackluster food and service. I decided to try it again and also to support local small businesses. I am very disappointed and embarrassed by this place. During my visit on 12/09 the lady before me picked up her order and it was wrong. I was actually coming back to tell them my order was wrong as well. But if the lady in front of me was a predictor of how my own issue would be resolved - basically there was none. They don't care. So customer service is still terrible and has not improved. Now let's talk about the food: -Eggs: cooked well. -Sisig: very salty and not sisig by any means -Ube Waffles: well it's interesting but not cooked well (if you mess up waffles) OMG.. I'm going to be a minority and say that this place is just OK, but that's because I find myself comparing it a lot to Isla Pilipina in Chicago which is hands down one of the best places I've ever had Filipino food. During my first visit, I got the Pork Belly Sisig Fries. I remember the pork being really hard, but I decided to try the Lechon Kawali the second time anyway because all of the pork belly dishes were highly recommended. I didn't think it was crispy enough so it was just hard and really chewy to eat. I was expecting a runny egg but mine was overcooked, and the garlic rice was soggy and not as fragrant as other places I've tried. Overall, this dish was a complete miss for me. I also tried my friend's Fried Chicken Adobo and that one was much better. The highlights for me are the sisig fries and garlic rice! It's a must try! The fries are topped with diced pork belly, sour cream, tomato, onion, cilantro,sour cream, cheese and egg! I also recommend anything with the garlic rice aka silog bowl. You can choose different proteins to go in the bowl. The hot box is a good mixed plate to share and/or try a lot of different items. First off, I gotta give 5 star to the staff here for their friendliness. This is the place where you come in and can tell right away they care about their food and how customers respond to it. The reason I gave it only 3 stars is because the food here are too fatty for my likings. Of course, lechon Kuwai is deep-fried pork belly so that's expected, but with the fat-to-meat ratio leaning more towards the fat and showering in mayo sauce made the meal too heavy. My fish bowl, even though it tastes ok, accompanied with cole slaw salad that's swimming with mayo, along with another mayo-sauce on the side, made this less enjoyable. I love the food flavor here, but do hope they have better sauces / salad dressing that balance out the meal, rather than just mayo-fest. I learned about this place via IG and the food looked amazing and have been wanting to try it. We ordered the lumpia, chicken wings and fish sandwich. I have to say everything was amazing, especially the fish sandwich. You could tell they had used fresh oil to fry up everything and all was very freshly made. They had a great tasting slaw mixed into the sandwich that added an extra touch to it. My daughter doesn't care for slaw but even ate all the slaw that fell out of the sandwich. Best kept secret - they're open on Sundays! I had the Wings and Rice, and I have to say, it was a delicious plate (batter they used to fry the wings in tasted salty w/lemon pepper, whatever it is, it was delicious). My daughter had the Pork Belly Fried Rice - filled with veggies and flavored just right with the added pieces of pork. We ended up taking a plate Adobo Moco Plate home, and because it was suggested to keep the gravy in a separate container, the food itself kept its flavor. We're happy to have found this hidden gem! But the food is so good for the price, how can I not give it 5 stars? Originally a food truck, they've opened up a restaurant in the last year... and despite being all the way in Kent (WHY), it's starting to become a foodie destination when you're south of Seattle. Bear in mind, if you're not familiar with Filipino food... know that we normally like our food filling, savory/salty, and most things fried. If you're looking for healthy greens or non-greasy food, I'd suggest turning around. - Pork Belly Sisig Fries: Chopped up pork belly atop crispy fries, with nacho fixings. If you've ever had carne asada fries, this is the Filipino version with pork belly and a fried egg on top. SO DELICIOUS... the pork wasn't even that fatty, and had great flavor and was super moist. I loved how generous they were on the guac and other toppings, this could easily be a meal in itself. Sisig fries is becoming popular on the west coast, but I can confidently say their sisig fries are one of the best I've had, blowing out some places in NorCal and SoCal. - Sinigang Bang Wings: As a fried chicken, this is really good, but it's also not your typical taste. It has a bit of acidity, like a lemon. It's quite tasty and I recommend it for something different. For those who aren't familiar with the sinigang, it's a sour-ish stew made with dried tamarind. This gives it a sweet, acidic flavor... it's hard to describe. Most Filipinos use a seasoning mix to make sinigang... and I suspect they seasoned the batter with this, giving it that initial sour bite. Worth a try for a unique twist to fried chicken! - Calamansi Ginger Chicken (grilled): This dish surprised me, as it was much better than I expected. It's a twist on the typical lemon/orange chicken you see in Chinese cuisine... they use the better citrus fruit known as calamansi to flavor their chicken. Calamansi is somewhere between a lime and an orange with a sweet, sour, and tangy flavor. That said, I couldn't really taste much of the ginger, but the calamansi was definitely there. I'm not sure how this would looked on the fried chicken, but on the grilled chicken it worked out really well. Totally recommend getting the garlic fried rice instead of steamed rice, and eating each scoop with a little bit of the sliced tomatoes (that's how we traditionally eat rice dishes). - Ube Waffle w/ Garlic Fried Chicken: Nevermind your regular comfort food of chicken and waffles... this is the Filipino dream! Ube waffle was crispy and had the distinct ube flavor I was looking for. It was crispy enough to withstand the syrup I poured on it, yet it was very moist inside. Paired with their very garlicky fried chicken, it was a match of sweet and salty. The chicken was fried and battered like the sinigang bang wings, except for the sweet/sour/salty flavor, you only got a very garlicky flavor. Really good! I was pretty impressed with their fried chicken dishes - the batter is really crunchy and airy, yet the chicken is really moist. If you've ever had mochiko chicken from Hawaiian BBQ in U-District, it's very similar to that. I suspect they use a mix of some kind of starch (corn or potato) with some mochiko flour. Really love this place. My dad's 60th birthday was yesterday and I wanted to surprise him with malasadas. It's always his favorite thing to eat when we're in Maui, but because of covid we haven't gone back and he's missed having a malasada with his coffee in the morning. So I placed an order of 20 (ube, chocolate, raspberry and apple pie) and I don't think I've ever seen my dad so happy to see a certain food. Oh I love this place the restaurant is super casual. Good sitting area with a good vibe. I have eaten at this place four times and have gotten something different every time and it did not disappoint. Da 808 Ok well this is something to try if you love poke and fried rice. I enjoyed almost everything here, even their poke. Their food overall was pretty salty and greasy. I'm not expecting a healthy meal with food truck fare, but I would say the saltiness is a bit overwhelming without a bowl of rice (that I made at home). Food was delicious! Next time we will plan ahead to call in our order before driving down as it was a little over 1 hour wait. We got some lumpia, musubi, fried rice, spicy salmon poke, an order of the spicy wings, and a lemonade. It was very yummy. We were so excited we ate it in the car. I ordered the "Da 808", which was rice, cuts of Spam, egg, and spicy mayo. Sounds good in theory, but everything was doused in sauce, which kind of ruined it for me. Came in around lunch time & glad it wasn't so busy. Placed my order & was out of there in 10 minutes. The guy who took my order was really friendly & answered my questions. So, that's 2 stars right there. Now for the food... we hadn't been here for a while, probably even before the pandemic. We weren't too impressed from our last visit. Though, I was in the area today so I wanted to give it another shot. I asked the guy if they just sold sisig without the fries. He said yes & showed me the two different size containers for $10 or $20. I opted for the $10 size. I also ordered the calamansi ginger chicken (fried) with garlic rice. Total cost was $26. Not bad, I thought, for two plates to share with my husband. I may have had some high expectations for the sisig. I know there's different varieties of it, from the way it's cooked to the different ingredients or parts of the pig. But their sisig is primarily made with pork belly, like most recipes. I was disappointed that their sisig was mostly fat, soaked in oil. And the portion in the container didn't seem worth the $10. The calamansi ginger chicken lacked distinct flavor. I may have had high expectations for that dish as well. Garlic rice was pretty good though. I know my husband didn't enjoy neither dish because there were still leftovers. Big Boy's Kainan sport the Filipino/Hawaiian hybrid mash up that made it a favorite amongst area food trucks. Some what disappointing is that they are missing some of my favorite Big Boy truck items! (I hope they bring back the lechon kawali breakfast burrito!). One star is for the presentation, the food looked good. To say the least, my tastebuds felt catfished. We got the tocino burrito and pork sisig garlic fried rice bowl. I opted out the coleslaw--store bought brand not something made in house-- which should've been a red flag because who puts coleslaw in Filipino food unless you're a sociopath or some weirdo but do you, I guess. Tocino meat tasted meh, needs to be sweeter. The sisig was very disappointing, they don't serve or have lemon/lime (that's like eating pho without hoisin and sriracha) so the meat tasted very bland itself. I paired it with vinegar and cheap kikoman soy sauce because I was desperate for flavor, that's where I made my food completely inedible. Now the garlic rice, they use premade cheap garlic you get in bulk so it had that preserved garlic taste. I never knew you could mess up garlic rice since it's my favorite, my tastebuds were so disrespected I had to apologize to them. They're super cute and convenient, but sometimes the schedule they post on social media is inaccurate or they run out of fries just before you get there. So I pulled up to their brick and mortar establishment instead. Lengthy research on Yelp left me confident that a chicken adobo garlic rice bowl was a solid choice. I was expecting an explosion of flavors, but I was left underwhelmed. I had to douse a generous helping of sriracha over my plate just to feel something. Food quality is good but the portions got smaller from the last time I went to visit. I remember having so much leftover because it was a lot. Wish that would change since the price is kind of high. I got the Lychee Pink Lemonade and the Calamansi juice and the server ask me what size, from $3.99 to 6.99.. Wow! that is a bit much for a drink.. I was really wanting to love this place, especially because it was a Filipino joint. I love to support small businesses and made the drive to get some ono eats. I'd recommend the Sinigang chicken wings. They were the perfect amount of crispy and tangy. I'm giving Big Boys only 3 stars, because the Lechon Kawali was one of the worst I've ever had. It was extremely dry and had no flavor. I understand that lechon is made crispy, but this was beyond the point of crispness. Even the fatty parts were tough. I ended up throwing it away. read more

I've been here twice and both times there wasn't really anyone in here but what seems to be their family! Both times they gave me my food and never came to check on me. They even have a self serve area where you grab your own utensils and water but I just figured it out of my own because no one told me.
