It's been six months since my move, and I still haven't been reimbursed for the furniture that was DROPPED (dresser, top side down) off the truck. To make matters worse, their guy tried to color my dresser with a SHARPIE before they brought the dresser inside. Too bad the crash was so loud and we all heard it from in the house, as well as SAW IT from the open front door. All phone calls were avoided, after all the excuses ran out. They were over an hour & a half late getting there, and no one called me to let me know - I had to track them down... My dresser is ruined, and they also damaged a $1,000 table and tried to hide it. We contacted Big Buck Moving approximately one month before the move. They quoted us $60/hour plus a $50 fuel/trip fee. It sounded good, so I booked them. In the days preceding the move, I tried multiple times to confirm my appointment. The owner did not return my calls or text messages. He did answer a call from my wife and confirmed that they would be at our apartment Saturday, 6/28, at 8am. The day of the move, both the manager and movers called and said they were on their way at different times. They didn't show up until after 9 and started at 9:15. During the moving process, they dropped one box, which resulted in a broken glass bottle of liquor and busted wine rack. They charged us for the travel time to the storage unit. The next day we went back to the unit to get a few things. We found that we were missing two boxes, both game systems. We immediately called the owner but got his voicemail, so we texted him as well. A little while later, a manager for the company called us back. He seemed concerned and said he was going to follow up with his movers and would call us back in a few hours. A few hours went by and no follow up, so we called him back. He said one of the movers told him he never saw the boxes and he hadn't been able to reach the other, but he would call us back before the end of the day. Wish I had checked here before I hired this moving company. The movers were lazy and took a long time. They dropped my couch off the truck, luckily the couch was unharmed. They also STOLE ALL of my tools. A large metal toolbox, and another box with power tools and other equipment. Reported the theft to the owner, Layden. He became belligerent, and claimed that his men would never steal. Fact of the matter is I saw my things put on their truck and they never made it into my new home. I do know that they "Stopped for some drinks" on the way to my new home. Guess I should have followed the truck. I am extremely disappointed in this company. The movers ruined my furniture, washing maching, and damaged my walls. I contacted the manager/owner and nothing has been done and there has been no contact from them since I notified him of the damage. Shady owner tried to charge me more than the Living Social promo clearly states. This is a straight forward move just need two men to load my own truck and trailer and I can provide dollies yet he insisted he must charge me a $75 fuel charge..for what? Said he would have to go get tools from his truck ...blah blah blah. He dont need no stink'n tools and I am in the same area code as him! Used the calculater to make sure I was in the service area. I cannot speak high enough about the level of professionalism from this company. Like any other service driven industry, if you don't have the right people in place you won't have success. Kenny and Karl moved our family and were extremely courteous and professional. They worked hard and took care of our belongings. This company--Layden, specifically--provided the most unprofessional experience I've ever had. The day of my move, I was texted and told I'd be pushed back to the next day because of a truck issue. On the day of my rescheduled move, Layden kept texting me further delays, saying he couldn't give me a definite start and finish time. He eventually cancelled on me (while abruptly hanging up) because I refused to permit him to lock my things on his truck overnight. My detailed review is posted on the thumbtack review page along with the texts, and Layden had the nerve to respond by claiming I made the whole thing up and faked text messages. His responses to other dissatisfied customers on thumbtack capture his horrible, unprofessional attitude perfectly. Layden is the most pathetic excuse of a business owner I've ever come across. WARNING... DO NOT use these movers!!! This company was recommended to us through a mutual friend. We were already booked with a great moving company, but wanted to help out a new business so we went ahead and called the owner Layden. My husband expressed his concern for the safety of our furniture because over the years and after a couple moves we've had some scrapes and damages here and there. Layden assured him that he had the best moving guys around and that nothing would happen to our furniture. Layden then discussed their insurance policy with us and said that it was "a joke" but that he would "take care" of any damages made and that we didn't need to worry. We have moved several times and it has never taken longer than six hours with two movers. Three movers showed up thirty minutes late (one above the age of 50) who was not comfortable lifting things and had us sign a paper stating that they showed up at the time listed.... Which was not correct. Our move took a whopping 12 HOURS with less furniture than we had ever had before. They crushed our washing machine and dropped our China cabinet off the truck shattering all the glass and breaking and splintering the wood. None of the boxes were placed in the rooms they were supposed to be in. The movers made one big pile in our living room and left them all there, stating that they would place them in the correct rooms when they were finished.... Yeah... That never happened. After two truckloads and 12 hours of moving the movers still had more to get from our previous home. We told them that we were done and that we were not gonna pay them for any more time. My husband called later and let Layden know about our broken furniture and washing machine and said that he was not comfortable paying the bill until he spoke with him in person. Laden told us that was not an option and that we needed to pay that night and that he would meet us the next morning and assess the damage. He NEVER showed. Day after day my husband called and left messages and spoke with Layden who was rude and acted offended and pompous every time they spoke. He stated that his movers told him that our things were already broken. ??? These people are crooks and liars. The last day my husband called, Layden threatened him and said, "you can take $600 for your China cabinet and washing machine or I will go ahead and file the claim with my insurance and you'll get a lot less. You choose." SERIOUSLY??? This man should not own a business! He is rude and dishonest in his business tactics. We are very nice people and I have never written a review before about anything, but I feel that the public should be warned..... Look elsewhere!!!! read more

I was not happy with this moving company. Some of my items were left in the truck and when I called about them instead of receiving a call back I recieved a text and was simply told nothing was found and that the manager would call me but I never received a call from anyone about the matter. I used a Groupon I received for 2 hours of moving and it took the movers less than 2 hours since I have a very small apartment yet I was charged an additional $175 ($75 for a fuel charge to go around the block, and $100 for an extra hour that was not even used). If I could leave no stars that would be my rating. We had an 8 am appointment and they didn't show up till 4:30 pm. Then they damaged my front door, refrigerator, and broke my TV stand. They say they are 100 % insured but have yet to pay for any damages and won't return my calls. I think it's ironic how they say they donate money for cancer but they are screwing this cancer survivor over. Horrible business!! read more

Here we are almost 9 months later and still no word from Layden or payment from Big Buck movers for the damages they incurred while moving us. Just recently my wife found more damages while organizing the garage. Just sad! I really hope and pray anyone reading this review will look for a more reliable and honest moving company, otherwise your taking your home furnishings out of your hands and into dishonest and sloppy hands. This was the worse move in the history of moving. First was the appointment ...it was set at noon..they showed up at 7:45pm. They threw my boxes around so hard and fast that 9 items were broken. Wrapped in bubble wrap and newspaper and they were still broken. They poked a hole in the wall of the new house and broke two pictures. They lost or stole a 54 inch round glass table top..Thad Ziglar place a 365.00 value on that. They have yet to replace it or pay me for it. The were to stop by a storage unit on the way and pick up a dark green sofa, love seat and matching chair. When they finally got the truck unloaded and reached the back..they had taken 3 pieces of someone elses furniture...they went to the wrong unit! I refused to let them take it off the truck...which he kept insisting on doing. Then the driver on the truck couldn't do the math and tried to charge me an extra 100.00 because I had a voucher and had only paid 200.00 for my move when it should have been 300.00. I tried to tell him the voucher (from Groupon) was worth 200.00, he told him no it wasn't because it was free! He called the police on me for theft of services! Even the police officer couldn't get him to understand. He finally just left...very frustrated! This was followed by two solid weeks of not answering phone calls or messages. This company is extremely shady. They promised a specific rate for 3 movers.. Then they tried to charge me the 3 mover rate despite only two movers showing up. When I refused to pay the 3 mover rate for 2 movers the guy acted like he never told me 3 movers were coming even though he told his movers to wait 15 min for the 3rd guy to show up. The movers also used a rented truck with a liftgate not equipped for moving. Each of my items had to be individually placed onto the lift one by one and mechanically lifted into and off the truck. This added over an hour to the move. The guy then proceeded to hang up on us after we called to dispute them charging for 3 movers. He obviously doesn't care about providing decent customer service and the company definitely ignores the fact that customers are leaving poor reviews on them everywhere. Most unprofessional company ever. They answer the phone to schedule, but not after they have rescheduled and put you off repreatedly. 7 hours later they say they are on their way. BUYER BEWARE!!! I wish I had seen these posts before I wasted time and money on this company. It is ridiculous the hoops I had to jump through. Layden Walker helped with nothing except scheduling. 48 hours later I am STILL awaiting a return call from my issues with my move that I wound up having to call another company to do. I am not holding my breath. I have saved all text messages in the event that he tries to say I am lying. His company is a joke. Seriously. I would have rated zero or negative stars, but that was not an option. Looking at the questions on the side of the page it asks what could have been better? Lets start with a professional staff that calls people back when the unprofessional movers can't/won't make it...or how's this...SHOW UP FOR YOUR APPOINTMENTS!!! After 2 hours of "truck problems" rent a uhaul, soak up some of the cost and do the right thing. I read that Mr. Walker and his company have a history of blowing people off, blaming truck problems, and making customers wait...no calls back. Worst move I ever had, the crew arrived an hour late, to break down my furniture, they had to use my tools because they cdidnt have their own, I purchased a house 4 miles from my rent house, I had a bed set go from the USA to Turkey to Florida back to Texas and never damaged, for them to move it 4 miles and completely destroy it, they offered to give me .66 cent per pound for it , maybe 15 dollars. Every piece of furniture was scratched, didn't bubble wrap anything, the driver had the nerve to tell me he was drinking the night before, I had a lot of moving companies move my things before, and I've learned your better off going with the well known companies your going to pay a little more but all your things will not get destroyed. Big buck moving is a nightmare and a joke all in one. I was the crash dummy, now you save your self the headache, or not and learn the hard way.
