Buyer beware! This was my second project completed by Bully. My front yard was completed years ago and is beautiful. The backyard was completed last month. It has not been a good experience. Be warned about the following: Communication is sparse and you will have to pursue answers once they have your money. Do NOT give them a deposit thinking they will hold it for the mandated cool off period. I cancelled the first contract in two days (3 day period given). They deposited the money and even with numerous calls and promises of return of deposit it was not returned. I felt trapped to use them as they had almost $1000 of the payment. Read the back of the contract in full. The salesperson will show you the front but turn it over and really read every line. I had to have the contract rewritten numerous times. Even giving written details that kept being left off. Have someone there all day with workers to check work. I had to do a call back for a horrible dig out job that was hidden by weed barrier. I do not know what the ground looks like under my turf. Note the next point. Do NOT initial the weed part on the contract. One of the main reasons for this project was a carefree backyard. Now I have weeds around the entire patio. My front yard had none. This second project was a struggle. It may be attributed to this company growing too big too fast. We've used Big Bully for a previous project a few years ago at our home, and despite issues we experienced in the past, we decided to give the company another chance because we really like the product and had hoped things had improved. When we spoke with Darin, our account manager, about our previous experience, he explained that the issues were likely due to the company being in a different stage at the time and that Big Bully now had better processes in place. We trusted that and decided to move forward with them again for our front yard installation. Unfortunately, this experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Our project manager was Britney, and throughout the installation, we had to project manage and micromanage the crew ourselves the entire time. We both work remote, and customers should not have to spend their time onsite directing the crew, catching mistakes, and making sure agreed-upon details are actually being completed correctly. On the second day, there was a crew change, and it quickly became clear that important information had not been properly communicated to the new crew. The crew was confused about what had already been completed and had to call their boss to figure out what was going on. They even realized they had additional digging to do without having a designated place to put the dirt. The lack of communication and coordination also resulted in pipes being broken on the main water line during compaction after we told them they needed to lower the system, causing leaks. What was even more concerning was that the crew did not know how to fix the leak themselves and had to call a lead to come out and show them how to address it, leaving us with no water until it was addressed at the end of the day. Rather than the issue being handled smoothly and professionally, we once again had to be onsite while the crew figured out how to resolve a problem that occurred during the installation. What has been especially frustrating is that when we brought these concerns to Big Bully and requested a credit because of the significant project management issues and the amount of time we had to spend overseeing the work, we felt like our concerns were repeatedly being deflected rather than addressed directly. We have not felt that there has been a genuine willingness to acknowledge the impact these issues have had on us as customers or offer a reasonable resolution. We chose to give Big Bully another chance specifically because we were told the company had improved its processes. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we have not seen that improvement reflected in the project management, communication, or quality control. If we had not been onsite and actively monitoring the work, we honestly don't know how many issues would have gone unnoticed. That should not be the customer's responsibility. We are extremely disappointed with how this project has been managed and, even more so, how our concerns have been handled after bringing them forward. We hope Big Bully will reconsider its position, take accountability for the issues, and provide a fair credit toward the project cost. We really wanted to continue trusting and recommending Big Bully, but this experience has made that very difficult. read more

UPDATE: After the install I went back over my video footage and realized that BBT caused the pipe break in my irrigation system. When I brought that to their attention, and asked them to reimburse me for the cost of the repair and the $350 fee they charged to come out and lift the turf for 2 mins, the response I got was "well our Site Manager says we didn't do it". I have it on video!!! I spent almost 1k more on BBT because I wanted a reputable experience. Their turf is nice but the accountability is severely lacking. If you use BBT, make sure to have proof that your sprinkler system is good prior to allowing them to come trance across it for 5 hours. read more

While the actual turf product looks and feels nice, I am incredibly disappointed with the dishonesty and poor execution from both the salesperson and the Project Manager. Prospective customers should be aware of several major discrepancies between what we were promised and what was actually delivered: 1. False Warranty Claims: We were promised a 5-year weed-free warranty due to their "superior prep work" and a 25-year transferable warranty. Both turned out to be false; there is no weed warranty and the 25-year warranty is strictly non-transferable. 2. Cut Corners on Prep Work: We were told they would excavate 5-6 inches of dirt before laying the road base. Instead, they just skimmed the top of the ground and piled the base right on top. We were also promised a special cooling product, but the turf already gets hot well before the peak of summer. 3. Left Me with Extra Work: Because they didn't excavate properly, the turf is too high. They couldn't finish nicely around my fence because the buildup would damage the slats over time. Now, I am left with a bender board dam against my fence posts that I have to fix myself with pavers or gravel to prevent erosion and weed intrusion. The product itself is fine, but the sales tactics were misleading and the installation did not match what we paid for. I cannot recommend this company. read more

Update August 2025: I had been trying to get a patch repaired. Ultimately Alex M. stepped up and offered to help. Alex was able to patch the spot that had somehow melted. Still not sure what caused it but in the end the company came through. It's been mentioned in other reviews, communication is hit or miss. I believe the company to still be the best choice but you really have to push to get tot he right person sometimes.
