Rich said he would send a team member back to repair the fence post they broke, but no one ever came back to do it. I would probably up rate the experience, submit more attractive photos, and recommend this company if someone actually does come back and make it right. Looks like perhaps only a little welding would be needed to fix it. That would also up rate the assessment of value for the price I paid. read more

Got the result I wanted at a fair quote, I got two other bids. Back yard looks like night and day I could not be happier. The arrived on Monday and prepped but had to wait til Thursday to continue due to rain. Liquefaction is real when compacting the base so they had to wait for dryer days. This company was my first choice last 2020 when I was looking for a turf installation for my backyard. I decided to save up for it first before I continue with the project. I called them earlier this month to get another quote because I knew prices won't be the same anymore. Someone came to inspect and measure it. Waited for a quote for weeks, never came. Coming from the East Coast, we didn't know anything about turf. We turned to Yelp for reviews and invited 4 companies to come out and give a quote. Not only was HomeTurf's the most competitive (they beat a competitor's quote and gave the best warranties), they spent the most time with us, explaining how the job would be done, working through multiple options, discussing pros and cons of different turfs, and even taking the time to learn about our family. When the crew showed up, we knew we were in good hands. They explained every step of the process and treated our property like it was their own. We had two patches in which we installed turf (both approximately 350 square feet). One was installed directly on a concrete slab; the other was on dirt after the crew removed about 5 tons of rocks and debris from a previous project. They finished the job in two days and left our property in pristine condition. We are completely pleased with our decision to go with HomeTurf. These guys crushed it! I own an ocean view home in Bay Park. Over the last year we have been plagued by gophers. Between the gophers and wanting to lower maintenance costs we started calling turf installers for turf and gopher screen. I got 6 bids and selected Home Turf. Rich was my salesman and communicated clearly and often. I have been a Commercial General Contractor for 30 years and consider myself a tough customer. Gus was the lead Forman. His crew worked from the first moment to the last like an well oiled machine. They we're conscience of dust, neighbors and impeding traffic in front of my house. They showed up ready to work at 7am on the dot and completed the job in three days which others said 5 days. They cleaned up every day before they left. The work they did around the camphor tree roots in my back yard was artful and time consuming for which they did not charge an extra. Fantastic experience! We had a big (for us) job: Rip out the yard in front and back and replace it with turf. Rip out driveway, patio, and walkway to replace with pavers. Rich was very responsive to all communications and provided a thorough (and best) quote. The install crew was TOP NOTCH. They were hard-working, conscientious, and went above and beyond to be sure I was satisfied. They obviously had no issue with the size of the job as the demo to completion was 8 working days. The synchronization of crew, equipment, and materials demonstrated a highly organized and efficient "system", further demonstrating their competency and experience. We chose to hire HomeTurf for our yard because they offer a 25-year warranty on their turf as opposed to the 15-year warranty the other company's we looked at provide. Rich provided the initial consultation and estimate. He was professional and responsive. They were also able to start the job within a week. "Eric," the company"s project manager, contacted me via text to schedule the installation and said if there were any issues I could contact him directly. I received an automated text message informing me HomeTurf would be at my house between 7 and 8AM. The turf was delivered within this time window; however, around 8:20AM the work crew had yet to arrive, so I sent "Eric" a text. Like most people, I am busy. I have to take kids to school, I have to work. I had budgeted my time so that I could ensure the crew had access to my yard and had everything they needed to begin the project. I was frustrated because I had no idea when to expect the workers. "Eric" dismissed my concern, telling me he "didn't understand the negativity" . I came close to telling him he could come pick up his turf and cancel the job, but decided to just let it go. Eric told me he would get an ETA for the crew but never texted back. The crew would show up anywhere from 8:30AM to almost noon over the four days the project took. They were polite and worked hard. There are some minor installation issues that will still need to be fixed. I haven't given HomeTurf the opportunity to address them yet. Overall we are happy with how it looks. Maybe my expectations are too high, but for over $13k I was pretty disappointed in the lack of communication and customer service. To his credit, Rich apologized and is following up to ensure the job is completed to our satisfaction. Three friends are interested in turf, including one with a large property in Ramona. HomeTurf will not get my recommendation, but there are many other customers who had a positive experience with this company, so I would just encourage you to shop around. read more

I'm so upset that my experience with this company was not a good one because turf is not cheap and this has cost my husband and I a lot of money for such a poor job! The workers cracked and scratched our concrete in the process of installing the turf, the project manager did not communicate with us (we wouldn't hear from anyone from the company for MONTHS), we had workers show up to our property unannounced, & never had a final inspection... We got a handful of quotes for our 3000 square foot backyard and HomeTurf definitely came in at the right number. During our initial walkthrough of the space, Rich won us over when he talked to us about the importance of drainage and how early they could start! He was also not at all salesman-y. He was just nice and clear and efficient. I honestly don't know where to begin with this review: The team that came out to complete this MASSIVE project was amazing. They were here bright and early every morning and they were literal rays of sunshine the entire time. A huge thanks to Gus and his crew. My kids loved watching them make magic in the backyard and the highlight of the project was when Miguel let my 5 year old son take a very safe ride in the Bobcat. These guys really felt like family. The work itself is stunning. They asked questions when needed to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted and we truly were in AWE that they were able to finish this project in 3 full days. Although it was a team of 7, they did the work of 25. The financing option worked great for our family bc we can pay this off over time, but we just moved into this house and we wanted the yard right away. I decided to have my front yard and side yard turfed with HomeTurf and was exceptionally disappointed at their customer service and lack of professionalism, as well as the quality of their work. On November 4th and 5th, they laid turf. On 11/4, I noticed they were removing pavers from an area of the yard that was not supposed to be touched. So, I corrected them and then called the gentleman who sold me the turf to ask him to touch base with the workers to ensure they were clear on the design plan we had agreed on. He stopped by and assured me everything would be done correctly. When the workers left on Nov 5th, they left trash, debris, dirt and leftover materials everywhere, which I ended up having to clean up myself. When I inspected the turf, I found they had turfed over an area of the yard (a different area than I corrected previously) that they were not supposed to. This made my gate not open and aesthetically did not look good. I let them know there was an issue on Nov 8 and heard back from them Nov 16 when Eric sent me the invoice to pay with no mention of correcting the issue. I responded to let them know that I would pay when the job was fixed. They fought me over and over saying that they thought it looked fine and suggested I just shave my gate to make it open over the turf. They tried repeatedly to convince me to go ahead and pay the invoice and then they would consider fixing it under warranty, even though the original contract was not fulfilled. Steve, the owner, even sent me letter that they would put a lien on my house if I didn't pay the invoice immediately. They did not send someone to fix it until a month later. I had sent them a photo of what the section of the yard looked like before they turfed it over and told them to get my approval before making any changes if they weren't restoring it to exactly how it looked before they messed it up. They did not get my approval and restored it very differently than how it was before the turf (it was dirt and pavers previously, they changed it to another material which doesn't match the rest of the yard). At that point I was so tired of dealing with their animosity and unprofessionalism that I just paid so I would no longer have to battle with them. Definitely do not work with HomeTurf! read more

My entire experience with HomeTurf was top-notch! I called and received quotes from over ten different synthetic grass companies. HomeTurf was by far the best price, and also able to build Paver stairs to my raised bed garden and install a paver border around my firepit. When it comes to contractors, I am very picky, and my wife is extremely picky. I had multiple quotes without itemized pricing, and those were all astronomical. Rich Cubin Itemized my quote and explained to me every step of the process. Another thing that drives me nuts is when contractors and crews do not tidy up their working areas. The Foreman for my job was Leo, and he made sure that my yard and the area in front of my house remained as clean and tidy as possible during the whole job. It may sound excessive but it took 13 companies to finally realize I found the right company when I spoke with Rich. I was initially ready to go with the first few bids as it was affordable, but it took so long for the companies to respond to inquiries and often times, it almost felt like a burden to them to requote (as I wanted to add more to the project) that I started to feel that it was not going to be a good fit for us. After speaking with Rich, I felt confident that Home Turf is not only going to provide me with the best warranties and quality product (25 yr on turf, 10 yr labor), but also provide us with the best service. You do get what you pay for, and to me, it was all worth it! After 2 months of the project completion, I can attest that the service is still amazing. There were a few occasions that I needed some things done and have reached out to Rich for assistance. He immediately follow up and within a few days, sent someone out. Rich has been so wonderful to work with; he's upfront, honest, prompt with his responses, and great with communication. The crew, managed by Leo was also amazing. Everyone was very friendly, organized and easy to with with. I loved that they cleaned up after every visit, so no complaints about debris or cleanliness here. I'm also impressed that they were able to do my front and back yard + retaining wall in 7 days! Theyre super fast.
