Cons: Beverage/condiment station are very cramped. And yes, I'm claustrophobic. So it might just be me, but ... Guests were bumping into each other - yes, me included - which can cause aggressive hostility, no bueno! Wow! A celebrity restaurant that isn't up the bum pricey! Now that's hard to find in Vegas. Came here with the hubby and a friend for dinner just to try Big Chicken. We've been hearing good things and seeing good reviews. So why not give it a try? One thing I noticed when we walked in was .. half the establishment was well lit and the other half, not so much. Were we saving on energy? Hmm. Anywho, I decided to go with the Uncle Jerome, which was their Nashville hot chicken sandwich with pickles, mayo, and lettuce. We shared an order of dirty fries and a drink. I do quite like their drink selection -- they have Stubborn sodas and the customization drink machine. The sandwich, though, is pretty lacking. While they say it's Nashville hot chicken .. it might as well be a regular chicken sandwich. There was no spice and there was no heat. Honestly, a hot n spicy sandwich from Mcdonalds has more heat than the Uncle Jerome. So I pretty much had to drench it in sauce. They also don't really do anything spicy because their spiciest sauce is a watered down and more vinegary tobasco. The Shaq sauce is very delicious though. The quality of their chicken is superb. It was tender and juicy. And it would probably be everything you want in a chicken sandwich as far as texture goes. The dirty fries was pretty good as well but the fries were made fresh. Big Chicken must be using magic in the kitchen because their chicken is flavorful without being salty and cooked perfectly without being dry or greasy. With sandwich names like Shaq Attack, Shaq Fu BBQ and Shaq Daddy, you know it'll be a fun atmosphere. I'm a fan of the M.D.E. but the Shaq Daddy is also really good. My favorite menu item has to be the chicken strips. They have a few different sauces to choose from, but honestly the chicken is so good, no sauce is needed. Their BC fries are thin, flat potato slices. A must have! The beverage selection here is fantastic. In addition to your basic sodas, they have a few flavors from Stubborn (like Orange Hibiscus and Lemon Berry Acai) plus iced teas and an out-of-this-world fresh made strawberry lemonade. If you have an appetite left, try one of their ice cream sandwiches. I had the Rocky Road and it was huge (enough for my husband and I to share). Yeah, so clearly I'm not in the same league as Al Yankovic for coming up with clever cover songs but Shaq's first Vegas venture into the food industry is about as big a hit as Jay-Z's 1999 hit, "Big Pimpin'." The food is fresh and delivers on flavor, and the prices are very reasonable, at around $10/meal. The family-friendly atmosphere has a smallish dining room with walk-up counter and a bar, along with several screens for watching a game, and a foosball table for fun. From the neon signs to the range of specialty sauces, they packed a lot of character into this relatively small spot. Well-organized menu has sandwiches, sliders, strips, salads, shakes, sidekicks, and sweets. Yelp friend Jean C and I tried the Big Aristotle and Shaq Fu BBQ sandwiches, along with sides of BC fries, sweet potato fries, and Lucille's mac and cheese. Chicken was well-seasoned and so juicy, and decently sized filets filled the entire fluffy, brioche bun. I do wish the cheese on my sandwich was melted rather than cold, and the portion of pork belly on my friend's burger was minimal. Thankfully, the mac was a hit, super creamy and topped with crushed Cheese-Its. BC fries are an unexpected oblong, chip-like shape but it worked well for trying the dipping sauces- spicy chipotle and Shaq sauce being the favorites. Service was solid, with attentive staff at the bar and food out fast. Dining room stayed clean despite plenty of business during out visit. Bonus points for offering Stubborn craft sodas as a drink option, hoping they add basic iced tea at some point. This chicken is pretty big, but it's not huge. Big Chicken is a new restaurant in the crowded plaza on Harmon between Swenson and Paradise. Sandwiched between a cantina and a pizza joint, it was doing steady business on Sunday afternoon. Parking was actually easy, unlike during my past weeknight visits. Adding a venture publicized by NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal won't make that situation any more bearable, so schedule your visit thoughtfully or patiently. The service is pretty friendly here, but there is a systematic disconnect of some sort between the front of house and the kitchen. My friend received entirely the wrong order, and I received mine late and only after I had brought my hanging number tag up front to inquire about it. Their reaction indicated that they had lost the order somehow. Thankfully, they did apologized by way of bringing it out quickly and throwing in a couple of sides on the house. In a way, the fried chicken here fills the same role as Shaq himself. He never won a championship without riding shotgun with another superstar. In this case, BBQ Chicken Salad ($9.99) is Kobe Bryant. Shredded romaine, pepper jack, and a "relish" including corns and beans play so well against the fried chicken. This is the one dish which I'd come back here to order. Both the chicken and the BC Fries ($2.99) are relatively thin/flat, physically speaking. I imagine that that allows them to be fried consistently. Unfortunately, they both end up lacking the (non-physical) dimensions that might make them truly remarkable. The chicken isn't juicy or even truly meaty, and the fries aren't fluffy. Actually, the Sweet Potato Waffle Fries ($3.59) are more interesting than the regular fries because they did get crunchy enough, which I've found isn't always the case. Back to the chicken. It isn't available bone-in here at all. Whether it's served a la carte as strips (note: don't bother ordering them this way), sliced and laid atop a salad, or stuffed inside a sandwich, it's the same flat boneless cuts. I'm not sure whether any of the other sandwiches do much to defray the relatively salty batter of the chicken, but the Shaq Fu BBQ ($8.29) didn't work for me. The kimchi is a little too mild compared to what you'd expect at more traditional restaurants such as nearby Gangnam in the same plaza. The brioche bun is good, but the pork belly is barely noticeable. The six sauces are generally enjoyable, but the majority of them strike me as too sweet. The Spicy Chipotle BBQ sauce tasted the least as advertised. I'd consider mixing the Buffalo Style Hot Sauce and something like Shaq Sauce or Sweet & Smokey Memphis BBQ in a 1:2 ratio next time to get something balanced to add to a sandwich. The ketchup was actually my favorite sauce overall, at least for use with the regular fries. The beer selection is another strength here. All of the draft beers are lighter, more accessible offerings from local breweries and come affordably priced at $4.99 for 20 oz pours. I wasn't able to get the specific name of the rotating Big Dog's beer, so I ended up trying the Weize Guy by Henderson brewery Joseph James. As expected, this gave me banana and clove flavors in a relatively light, non-bitter profile. Note that I didn't say that the bar itself is a strength; this is because the TVs weren't carrying HD broadcasts of the sunday NFL games. It's 2018; what gives? I enjoyed the food overall at Big Chicken - where the heck are my half-stars anyway? - but I probably won't go out of my way simply because I can find comparable or even better options closer to home, both in terms of fried chicken and beer. read more

The best chicken tenders I've ever had. A decent beer selection, and free parking in this strip-mall location near the Hard Rock casino and UNLV. Prices are pleasantly lower than the nearby Strip. Big Chicken does...something...to make the pub-grub staple of tenders rise above the rest. It tastes like they used brined whole chicken breasts cut into 2-3 pieces (rather than frozen, processed chicken) with a thin layer of batter-- the result is exceptional. There's a range of sauces, and pleasingly their spicy honey mustard has a bite to it. Better than I thought. I didn't expect much given that a NBA player decided to open a chicken joint. It did meet a lot of expectations in terms of taste and price. It's not the best fried chicken sandwich but there are a lot of good qualities to it. Factoring everything, it's more like a 3.5. It's a cheap eat in Las Vegas. So I'll start with saying that the sandwich itself is below $10 which is a +. It's a decent size sandwich(depending on how much you eat, I think you can actually get full from it). I tried a bite of the Charles Barkley, Shaq Attack, Superman, and I picked the Big Aristotle to eat . I also took some fries, tried one chicken tender, a few bites of the salad just bc my friend got it and I needed some greens and took a bite of the banana pudding ice cream sandwich. The various sauces are decent, nothing too special. It's the kind you would expect from a fried chicken sandwich place. I recommend just getting all of them since we all have different taste. Personally, I wasn't too big on the Charles Barkley. That kind of mac and cheese isn't really my style. Also, I think it really could use some kind of acid or veggies in it to balance it out. For me, I wouldn't get it. As for other 3, i would get the other 3. As the Shaq Attack had some spice and it had cole slaw to kind of lighten up the sandwich. Shaq Attack had the smash avocado which is kinda what I wanted for my Big Aristotle. I believed my Big Aristotle had some pickles to help lighten it up but I think it could use a tomato or a cabbage in it but It's a good combination. For all the chicken sandwiches, I LOVE the brioche bun. Personally I just love a brioche bun for all my burgers so that won me over. The chicken itself is a bit salty in the sandwich but the brioche kinda helps soak it in to make a little less impactful in terms of salt. I mean personally I still think it could be a tad less salty in the sandwich. With that said, the chicken itself is juicy. Also, the chicken tender was better in the sense of it not being as salty and I'm pretty sure they factor that in. The salad is decent, I didn't try the chicken in the salad but having some greens is nice. The fries aren't the greatest and aren't the worst but it's addicting. The ice cream sandwich tasted decent but I would never order it. I didn't like the cookie and the ice cream was too hard. The ice cream had a good taste but I just don't recommend it. It's not on the top of my choices to come back but if you are a Vegas local, I think it's a nice option to have given the price and it's a decent chicken sandwich. We have been wanting to come here since it opened and we happened to be in the area today. Loud music and good, flavorful chicken! I had the Superman because avocado! Yum! He had Shaq Fu BBQ and dirty fries. The dirty fries are so good but the real winner is the chicken! So much flavor. I got crispy because I forgot to ask for grilled so on my next visit I will try grilled chicken. I do have 2 bummer things. The ice is gross (even though it's that good crushed ice, you know like that one fast food place) and the other is the seat cushion on the bench is filthy! This restaurant used to be the place my sister and I looked forward to eating at anytime we visited Vegas. The food used to be delicious and high quality, but when we went back today to take a friend to try it for the first time, we had a horrible experience. The popcorn chicken was literally just breading, almost every piece was slimy and nasty, and it was quite literally inedible. We are not the kind of people to send food back (we both work in food service) but seriously it was awful. And for that price? My sister kindly asked if she could get a different food item since her's seemed to be the worst but the workers were very unprofessional and seemed extremely high. They gave her new food, tenders instead of popcorn chicken this time, but it was still chewy, dark, slimy, and mostly breading. We feel ill now after eating here, both due to the food quality and the service we received. Should have asked for a refund since we didn't eat the other orders of popcorn chicken but based on our previous interactions with the staff we didn't think they would agree to anymore exchanges or refunds, which is disappointing to see in food service. Sad to see a great restaurant that we would go to with our friends and bring new friends to try what used to be great food. We won't be back after this experience. read more
