We were looking for only local businesses on this day and needed to pick up some dinner. Big City Burrito for the win! There is street parking out front, but that means backing on to College Ave to get out, which I am not a fan. However, there is a small lot out back. We parked in the back, there is a small pass through at the left of the building from the parking lot to get to the front. Having never been, we asked if they could explain their offerings. The young man who helped us answered all our questions and got us started on our order. I got a breakfast burrito, because breakfast for dinner is fun! I chose pork for my filling, medium pico, rice, pinto beans and sour cream. My husband got a steak burrito with black beans, rice, medium pico, sour cream and guacamole. For my daughter I ordered a chicken burrito with pinto beans, rice, mild pico and sour cream. These were made in front of us, hot and fresh and plentiful on the filling. We all enjoyed our food. I did notice they have some seating so eating in is an option. On this day we had more activities to do so we got ours to go. read more

I can't explain how excited I was when my coworker pulled up Big City Burrito during her search for breakfast burritos a few weeks back. Like ecstatic. Naturally, I insisted we go here to get our burrito fix. My order was my old time classic: a regular sized breakfast burrito on a cheddar jalapeño tortilla, with mixed cheese, bacon, sausage, egg, mild pico, sour cream, and green chile. YUM! You can add queso, and they have a variety of spice levels for each type of salsa or sauce. It was a party in my mouth. Plus, the regular size burritos are HUGE, and they offer a jumbo size as well. Daaaaamn! Come hungry. The staff are all incredibly friendly and personable. We had great interactions throughout my visits. Literally the only drawback of this location is the parking situation. There's very little parking out front, and what parking is there is tight. Almost uncomfortably tight. While I'm not in Northern Colorado for work as much I was previously, Big City Burrito will absolutely be my go-to breakfast burrito anytime I find myself in Fort Collins. Do yourself a favor, go get one, and you'll understand why. **Pro Tip: They offer up a punch card with each burrito purchase and deliver through Nosh Colorado. I have loved supporting them for my entire life... the burritos are special and have flavor if you know what you're doing when you request things in the assembly line. In a way I've always liked it more than the big Chipotle like chains... nothing with added sugars. Etc. Nothing fancy.... Just local college town assembly. But today I came in and was swarmed with flies. Swarmed. They have got to get their pests under control, because it's dangerous to the customers. I am their only customer and it's been an hour. This place has gone through a much-needed facelift! They've kept much of the items on the menu the same but improved their quality significantly. If I could offer just a couple suggestions- the menu board feels backward. You start on the right side, and since most people read left to right it made it hard to know where to start/follow. I also think a couple more fresh options would be nice. Stir-fried veggies, lettuce, tomato.. etc. it was delicious but a bit heavy. read more

I've been here twice and had great experiences both times. You get a solid burrito with even better service. The patience they have while you make your burrito order is astounding. For those of us that don't get to come here often, it's hard to chose when you want everything lol! Yesterday I had a pretty simple burrito with some beef asada. It was delicious. Super mild, so if you like heat, get the spicy beef option. Which I would probably do next time, but I had to try the mild option as it sounded so good! This review is from pre-covid. I have tried to go once post covid but I am not familiar enough with their menu to be able to order through the little window unfortunately. I am visual and need to be able to look at what I might want. my pre-covid experiences were great though. BCB used to have a really long line always going out the door. It was part of the experience. You got up to the counter and had a plethora of choices available to you! So many choices!! I believe the times i had gone i ordered some sort of veggie taco. My kids have tried the nachos. Everything that we have ordered here has been good. Have brought friends here as well to give it a try. Their potatoes are really good too ;) We will be back.... but probably not until after they open back up to being able to come inside again. read more

Twice now, this location has randomly closed early, denying us our chance for a Phat Tuesday burrito special after work. We arrived right after 8 pm. Website clearly states establishment is open til 9 PM. Last Tuesday 6/8/21 there was a hastily scrawled sign, "sorry, closed early" on the door. Once might be excused as an unforeseen emergency. Big City Burrito is not a restaurant, it's an institution. I have been eating here since I was a wee one over 25 years ago, and as a teenager my friends and I would go ALL the time for the potato burrito, probably my favorite meal ever. Sadly my friend passed away a couple years ago and he was buried with a big city burrito. When you visit, enjoy sampling a large collection of bottles of quirky and delicious hot sauce. I recommend the jalapeño cheddar tortilla with cheese and no onions, potatoes, guac, ranch, and pico. That's it, don't get too crazy. My only complaint is that over the years the size of the burritos has gone down drastically. And when I order the same thing as my guy friend, his is ALWAYS bigger because I am a small woman so they must assume I won't eat as much. Now I just order the super burrito. read more

Three at best (might be a little generous actually). We've frequented BCB nearly since we moved to FTC in '98. Burritos used to be reasonably priced and good (and certainty didn't charge extra for the first serving of meat!). Tonight was at the least underwhelming, if not disappointing. I do know they did not make my burrito correctly, unless the recipe for my usual chicken mole has drastically changed. Whatever mystery meat I got, it was completely without any flavor. The entire burrito was very bland. On top of that, the 5 burritos for my family cost me over $90!! With that cost, I'm now regretting we didn't go somewhere else where the food would actually have had some flavor. Pretty certain we won't go back. read more

Wow. I can't believe what a difference in this place. I stopped in last night (Thursday night) to see a new menu board, new pricing, and way happier employees. It turns out they have new owners and, if the attitude of the staff shows anything, a whole new happier outlook on life! The place was cleaner, brighter, and better. I've always been a fan of big city, but whatever the new owners have done, I hope they keep it up! If you haven't been to big city in a while, or stopped going because of the old owners (I know some people who definitely stopped because of interactions with the old owners), go back and give it another shot. Local burrito joint BCB has been slinging since 1994, and it's a good burrito. I recently refreshed my memory with a breakfast burrito from the Fort Collins location on College. You will have lots of options, so do your homework prior to going and get an idea of what you want so you don't hold up the line. Huge selection of hot sauces available at the venue, if you don't have any at home. Mine was still tasty, hot and fresh by the time I got it home, but at $13-plus (before tip) my regular size burrito also carried a big city price tag (my only premium ingredient was bacon). And since he passed away in 2020, I'm afraid my dream of an endorsement of Big City Burrito from Sean Connery has also passed away. It's worth a try. read more

My husband brought me here starting in 2014, as a spot for delicious comfort food. He had gone through his days as a student at CSU. We would go periodically for several years... but in the past 4-5 years I would have to say that the experience has gotten downright unpleasant. Multiple employees have made us feel unwelcome, like a true bother to come in. Especially if I order, I had to pause after being interrupted and mocked by a young person and ask "are you having an okay day?", yo which she just shrugged and rolled her eyes through the rest of my order. If you are from out of town or don't go here regularly and know how to order like a pro- I'd strongly suggest choosing somewhere else! It's hit and miss here. Usually very good with great portions but then we'll have a not so good visit. One time it was like the top of the salt shaker fell off and dumped a ton of salt into the chicken. We've also driven to it and it's open but the person at the window tells us he can't serve us. We thought maybe it had to with mask required so we walked back to ask and they said no that they just "weren't serving". Thought it was odd. Everyone can have a bad day right?
