It was on Easter when my family of 4 was driving from Palm Springs California to Texas when our engine in our Rv failed. We were stranded an hour away from Benson, and not even my insurance company could help us find a tow. I called up Dave and he came early in the morning the next day on a Sunday when everyone couldn't help us out. He towed us about an hour to his site and the price was unbeatable! I got quotes from others around $2k+ but Dave charged me only $600! He let us stay in his parking lot for a few days as he diagnosed our Rv. Turns out our engine needed to be replaced. Best part was that Dave got me a new engine and installed it in less than 7 days! We were back up and running and drove straight from Arizona to New Jersey! Zero issues and zero problems! We invested into a full service with warranty and a new engine and totaled $17k+ which was more affordable than a new Rv! Dave and his team knows what they are doing and will take care of you. I was stranded on the side of the road calling all the tow companies around and Big Dave's was the only one willing to help us out, even when my insurance failed to get me a tow. They arrived really quickly and I had a nice, pleasant tow ride to their shop and they got my car all fixed up and ready to go that day. These people are taking advantage of the other's bad situation and not sticking to their original promises/prices. Not competent mechanics that needs guidance how to do the work, and after I explained them correct way of doing it they come back and charge me for work that should be part of component replacement anyway. The invoice for work they did was greatly inflated with many extra items added. When confronted no explanation was given. At 15 miles the rest area gets a DEF coolant hose which costs $100 and 11 gallons of coolant which cost 15 $ each coolant .They take 940 dollars from me. Hose 165$. Coolant 21.5$*11 (236.5$). They charged us $986 to basically take us 6 gallons of antifreeze. They didn't fix anything just shut off the valves and refilled antifreeze. I would also like to say when my REAL mechanic took a look at car he told me BIG DAVES removed the fuel pump before towing it to Tucson and the electrical connection of the pump had been CUT OFF.Who does this kind of work? We actually made it to their shop. Once there I must say at first I was a little concerned. The place was messy and that made me nervous. I was happy to find out that the mechanics know their stuff. They have fair prices and don't take short cuts. We DID spend an extra day waiting for a part to come in. BUT it was an OEM part that they gave a warranty on. AAA sent Big Dave's to our rescue on I 10 twenty miles out of Tucson. The driver arrived in 45 minutes, just around the time AAA had said and was friendly, had a nice rig and worked quickly to get us off the road and to safety. His main drag was Highway 10 which is also called Death Alley and part of a Burmuda Triangle of Highways so to speak. More people die on that stretch of highway on the 10 than anywhere else in the U.S. His rig held all 4 adults in our party and we arrived at our destination safely. If you are ever in the Tucson/Willcox/Sierra Vista area, dial up Big Dave's. I hear they are adding an additional Tucson truck soon. read more

I've gone to these guys 4-5 times for various issues with my car, they're great. They always squeeze me in last minute and seem to do whatever they can to save me a few bucks (likes suggesting where I can go to pick up my own parts). They are honest and fair compared to other mechanics I've gone to around Southern Arizona. Also, they're open on Saturday's which is a life savor for someone who works all the way in Tucson Monday-Friday. I always feel like as a female, mechanics are always trying to pull one over on me, but they never make me feel like that. I was 14 miles north of Benson, stranded. I called AAA. They said their only option for the area was Dave's. I was told that Dave refused the call - too far & the roads were too bad,that the trucks were to fragile & they wouldn't risk a dirt road. I tried to explain that it was a paved road with maybe less than a mile of a well maintained dirt road.AAA said they can't force the provider to do the job. But added Dave's said if I call them directly, for a price that included a $125 'off road' fee they would come out & do the service.(wha? Shouldn't AAA pay that? They would not pay the additional $125 Dave's was requiring) Ok, I gave Dave's the benefit of the doubt, I wanted to call to explain where I was(make sure AAA gave correct location) I tried twice, no answer. On the 3rd call I spoke to Dave, at first he had knowledge of the AAA call, he said it was too far, bad roads, I tried repeatedly to explain where I was & he kept rudely interrupting, he was loud and combative. When I was able to get through to him where I was, then he said he didn't get a AAA call, said he didn't know what I was talking about & then said suddenly he couldn't hear me-bad phone connection - what a runaround. So I researched & found a different place in Benson, who had excellent customer service, it cost less & after further speaking to AAA, they said they will reimburse me. I definitely do not recommend Dave's. And this business should not be a AAA provider. read more

We lost a wheel to our fifth wheel driving through Benson and AAA contacted Big Dave's to tow us off the freeway. Adam was there in a short time and due to the fact that it was the whole wheel assembly not just the tire he was able to use a chain to stabilize the axle and he and his wife Loni guided us (Loni in front in a jeep, Adam behind in the big tow truck for visibility) slowly and carefully off the freeway and to their shop. They got our fifth wheel fixed and ready to roll again in just 3 days. Adam was very knowledgeable and thorough, making sure our trailer brakes worked well before we drove away. Loni runs the office and she was also very helpful with knowledge of dealing with insurance companies. Had overheating problems in my RV, they towed me to their shop, worked on my RV next day. They thought it was the thermostat and leaking hoses. Replaced those. Did not do a through diagnostics, read the RV computer with a handheld machine. Said no error codes. I'm still having the same problem now sitting at another shop. They are friendly for the most part, let me stay in my RV there. But they are primarily a patch and go shop. Look elsewhere for a through inspection and get if fixed right the first time. read more

Used this firm yesterday after blowing a stock trailer tire (we were loaded with heifers going to market in Willcox). Problem occurred on Interstate 10 miles east of Benson. Ended up having outstanding luck (firm recommended by AAA) in finding the firm...arranged to have three new tires picked up by driver who arrived in relative record time and performed all needed work. Had my worst car towing experience with this business. Power steering went out, truck overheated. Insurance roadside assistance representative told me that an employee from Big Dave's would be out in no more than 2 hours, but may have delays due to weather (bad weather was in Tucson, not on outskirts of Sierra Vista where supposed employee was at). I sat there for almost 3 hours then noticed a speeding tow truck whoosh past not once, not twice, but three times. Moments later I get a call from the driver saying he has no idea where I am. I kept explaining it and he seemed like he just wasn't with it. Finally he pulled over in front of me and stopped. I sat in my car for about 10 minutes waiting for the guy to get out. When it didn't happen I finally walked up to the cab, guy noticed me standing there & finally threw the door open. Admitted he had been texting the whole time and here I thought he might of been doing paperwork. Next, he couldn't figure how to hookup my truck, slipped on an apparent oil patch and nearly fell off the back of his tow truck (happened multiple times - thought he was going to have some serious bodily injury before he got my truck hooked up). Then he started to raise the truck, suddenly grabbed the wrong lever & the back end audibly smashed into the asphalt. I was fairly angry, but remained civil. Finally jumped in the cab & the guy kept alternating between weird nonsensical rambling and having high pitched, unprofessional conversations (arguments) on his cell phone, on full blast speaker mode, with his girlfriend. Then he kept asking if I wanted to stop for a drink. Then he complained his boss wouldn't let him smoke with customers in the cab. Then he complained that he doesn't get enough time to eat. He concluded the rambling with stating how his boss lies to customers about wait times & double books his drivers. After that proclamation, he started texting vigorously, not watching the road. Every time he saw a cop drive by he'd slink down in his seat, slow down, & ask me questions about marijuana. First time I've been with a tow driver & wondered if I'd make it to my destination alive. It was equally infuriating and terrifying. Pretty sure he was either hopped up on something or sleep deprived to the point he was not functioning or safe. When at last we arrived at the garage, he wouldn't unload my truck (which wasn't even at the right location) until he had a cigarette. Finally he released my vehicle & left. That nightmare couldn't have ended soon enough. I immediately called Geico & reported everything. Who knows if anything was done about the employee, but I'd never wish that experience in my worst enemy. read more
