First time here and can't be happier to have found it! Friendly service, tasty coffee, welcoming ambience, outdoor seating...checked all the boxes. Definitely coming back.

Hidden gem in Southside works area!! Their coffee is very well made and they have plenty of snacks and food choices available. I love that they have an oatmeal and yogurt bar where you can choose your own toppings that they offer. This cafe is study friendly, has many tables and outdoor seating available. It's very colorful and vibrant inside with the decorations and different types of colors going on! We got an iced mocha latte and an iced lavender latte. If you like your drinks on the sweeter side, I recommend adding more sweeteners as they come a bit slightly sweetened.

Visited big dog after 3 years on being back in Pitt. I ordered their seasonal orange blossom latte which was bomb! It can be a bit too sweet if you don't like sugar in your coffee. Loved hanging out here! I like the rustic feel!

Bagel and vanilla oat milk latte are some of the best I've ever had. Vibes are great too

Absolutely charming little shop! The ambiance is delightful, with vibrant art, comfortable seating, and beautifully restored original features. I had an iced americano, which was well done! I wish they had stevia and served in reusable cups, but I'd still be glad to return.

I randomly looked up this place wanting some coffee and it was the closest to my location at the time. I got the flannel latte and it was delicious! I also loved the coffee shop itself! Such a great place to read a book, do some work, or spend time with some friends!

Overall, I had a good experience. Staff was friendly regardless of how busy they were. The venue, on a Sunday morning, had relatively easy parking. It is a dog friendly location. Lots of seating - inside and outside. Only downside was the coffee itself wasn't spectacular. I had a Puerto Rican blend that tasted kind of watered down. My friend had a caramel macchiato that also didn't taste great.

My favorite coffee shop in Pittsburgh! Ambience: 5/5, Taste: 5/5, Value: 5/5 I dream of this coffee shop and their big colorful mugs! This has been my favorite coffee shop for many years and even though I no longer live in Pittsburgh, it is a must visit every time I come back. This is a cute little coffee shop with a little outdoor patio area as well (and if you're lucky you will get a glimpse of the owners two big dogs). The coffee tastes great and is served in big colorful ceramic mugs.

This is by far one of my favorite coffee shops in Pittsburgh. It's a cozy space with a mix of table and soft seating. There is usually a fire going on the fireplace too! They also have a nice patio that you can sit on when the weather is nice. What is probably the coolest part of Big Dog is that they let you bring your dog in when you want to grab coffee and you can sit on the patio with your dog too if you want to stay a little while. They always have a little tin with doggie treats in it too. I'm a fan of their regular "Big Dog Blend" coffee, but they have great seasonal lattes too that they make with homemade syrups.

I stopped here to pick up some oatmeal from their oatmeal bar on Saturday morning around 10:30 AM. This was my first visited, and the first thing I noticed was the huge and myriad artwork on the walls by local artist Baron Batch. The second thing I noticed was the long line of customers. It's definitely a popular spot in town and it seems like the line can get quite long during peak times on weekends. My wife has been a regular here for years and I don't think it's as busy on weekdays. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I can say that the oatmeal and toppings are delicious. The staff are friendly and work efficiently to keep the line moving. I also picked up a blueberry muffin which was fresh and moist. The inside seating area is quite comfortable with a fireplace, something I particularly enjoy. This would be a great place to post up with a drink and a snack to do some work. Definitely stop in and try Big Dog if you're in the area!

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for our morning coffees. We have been going to local coffee shops every Sunday morning and on this morning we decided to go to Big Dog Coffee. It's located on Sarah Street in the Southside and the inside is quaint. They have a place to order your coffee as well as a display for their pastries and cookies. Beyond that they have a bunch of tables, comfy seating, colorful art and lime walls in the main area. That continues on into a back room where there is extra seating as well. For my coffee on this morning I went with a honey latte (seasonal, so it contained pumpkin spices) and then ordered a mocha for my wife. They serve intelligentsa coffee here and use Hollander for their chocolates and caramel. Our drinks were ready within a few minutes and we were quickly on our way. My latte here ended up being really good as it was very honey forward and you could really taste the milk. It hid the coffee a little more than I would have liked, but since I did enjoy that honey, I wasn't too sad about it. My wife thought her mocha was good as well. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed our drinks and I thought the shop was unique too.

Solid chai latte and great summer flavor honey latte. A few blocks over from the main shops in the south side but not a place to miss. Also has a lovely back patio that makes you feel like you've stepped out of your own home (or what I wish my apartment opened up to)!

I was really excited to try this place especially because they have an oatmeal bar. First the good - nice and cozy spot, friendly staff. Now for the mediocre - I had a latte which was just ok. While the oatmeal bar (the reason I made the trip) had plenty of fresh fruits along with plenty of options for toppings, it was disappointing that oatmeal was barely warm, which is the whole point of oatmeal. Maybe next time I'll ask them to stir it up good and make sure it's hot/warm. In any case, I'll give it another try and hope for the best

I can't give this place a high enough rating. 1 billion trillion gagillion out of 5 if possible…read more My brother and I came here saturday morning after a run since it's been on the hitlist for a while. Possibly best decision we made all year. We literally came back and spun the block for round 2 sunday morning to show our dad, the kind staff can attest to this! The first day we went with the brisket sandwich on a plain biscuit, and sausage on an everything. Both were 10/10, and both of us thought we had the better sandwich and made it a competition to prove each other wrong somehow. We both had a bite of each and thought these could quite easily be the best breakfast sandwich we've ever had. They are genuinely that good. Now, onto the even crazier parts (the cinnamon roll). We got a box of pastries of course. The fluffernutter roll, cinnamon roll, chocolate chip cookie, and the zucchini chocolate chip loaf. Best cinni roll we've ever had, hands down Fluffernutter was as good as it sounds, also a 10/10 As a chocolate chip cookie veteran, this one is decent. 6-7/10, I'd stick with getting the rolls personally The little zucchini loaf joint was good too, I've never had anything like that and it was like a good banana bread kinda deal (this probably isn't that helpful but all I know is that it tasted good man) Literally the next morning we ran it back to show Dad. Brother and I had to try the Bacon on plain next, and dad got the sausage. Again, best breakfast sandwich ever. Never had a biscuit this good, it's genuinely ridiculous. Got straight cinni rolls and the sticky bun this time. All hits no misses (that's for the married folks) I shall return with a vengeance

Worth a drive. Plenty of parking opportunities and a super outside dining area. The baked goods are…read morewonderful and Commonplace Coffee is served along with many other drink choices. The decorations are quite nice and service is friendly and efficient. What's not to like? Nothing!!!
