First and foremost: SUPER hard place to find parking. A..not enough street parking available 2. Valet and cops take up what is available. (We parked 1 block down in the Target underground lot. $8/hr but beware super tight.) Modern. Clean. Felt like a patisserie. Staff was nice. The massive print out is the products were very helpful. We landed on the confetti shake and the peanut butter cookie ice cream. The cookie was delicious. I love sauce and this had plenty of peanut butter and chocolate. Almost every bite had vanilla ice cream with something extra for great flavor. I like this a lot! Wish this place was near us. (Also, I drooled over the bark flavors at the counter. I did buy chocolate peanute butter toffee which I will try later.)

Expensive for the size, but amazing tasting shakes. They also offer chocolate bars and other sweets. The place looks nice, staff was friendly, but most importantly they have vegan options. That is the main reason I've went there. My husband also enjoyed his dairy shake, but he said the same thing, too expensive for the amount you get.

Solid strawberry milkshake. It was a little pricey for just a classic milkshake, but it was delicious and made very quickly. They also have non-dairy options. In addition to milkshakes, they sell a variety of chocolate treats, of which I (but not my friend?) was offered a free sample of. The staff working during our visit did not seem like they wanted to be there, which kind of took away from the experience.

Yes!!! All the things. Super cute space with good amount of seating that offers some pretty amazing menu options to satisfy your sweet spot! Not sure about parking as we walked. All employees were super friendly and helpful. They even offer samples. You will not wait long for your order. We ordered several flavors of shakes - wow!! All amazing. They even divide it into 2 if you are sharing which is so convenient and makes it easy to share. They also offer tons of different flavors of bark that you can mix and match. They have lots of other chocolate covered things. They have the bar Dubai chocolate- not the strawberry cup one. There's not much dark chocolate options. There is a retail space so you can take stuff home. Whatever you do, get a milkshake! You will drool just reading the flavor combos!

What an incredible place! There were so many options that making a choice was incredibly difficult, but I ended up going with the Rusty's Shake - full of brownies, cookies and cream, and fudge - and it was such a rich, thick, decadent milkshake that I really enjoyed! My girlfriend had the bananas foster shake and liked hers equally as much! I'm really glad I don't live in Pittsburgh or I would be here way too often for my health, because these shakes were absolutely phenomenal!

If you want the best milkshakes, PLEASE go to Milkshake Factory. Not even kidding. There isn't an option that is "bad", like at all. Whenever I'm back in the surrounding area and can find one of these close in my GPS, oh I'm going. 1,000% Baskin & Robbins who? Cold Stone who?

Stopped here by chance and just in the knick of time before the line started outside. Shakes are really good. Service is great. You may wait a tad bit to get your shake, but it'll be worth it.

My first experience at the Milkshake Factory Downtown was wonderful!!! The employees were helpful, friendly, and happy and it smelled delicious the second you walked in the door! We were picking up a bark box for a present and the hardest part was deciding on what bark to pick...they are all so good!

The cookies and cream will always be my fave! The guy was really nice and offered his opinion on his favorite. He mentioned that Chocolate Covered Strawberries. The interior is gorgeous but it just sucks how it's downtown Pittsburgh. I would try and time it because it does get a little sketchy but the police headquarters are down the street. Street parking or garage parking is close by !

This is amazing! The peanut butter chocolate is SOOOOO AMAZING! OMG THIS IS A GEM. The shakes are not too sweet, which is very enjoyable to drink. I'm definitely going back as the service was amazing too!

Oh my...the milky buttery sweet smell of this place is irresistible. We had to get some ice cream and milkshakes when we were passing by here. Service was good, pretty fast, and we definitely noticed differences in the shakes when different staff were making them. Some are a lot more presentable than others Price is on the high side, but it is for the fancier version of it. Atmosphere is quiet and fairly clean, we did see stickiness on some of the tables. Since not all customers clean up well after themselves, the staff should be more attentive to this... just a suggestion. Do recommend by @WineDinenVacay

Nice that milk shakes are available in the evening downtown. We went after a game. The venue was busy, and the service was fast. There are many tables and water available. Milk shakes come in lots of flavor. I had a root beer float. Between the ice cream and a whole bottle of soda, I was full!

The MilkShake Factory has become Pittsburgh's go-to spot for milkshakes and chocolates, with multiple retail locations throughout the region. Building on their family's century-old ice cream and chocolate recipes, they offer handspun milkshakes, craft sundaes, and gourmet chocolates, continuing the tradition started by their great-grandparents in 1914. Known for great customer service, the MilkShake Factory now operates 11 locations in Pittsburgh, maintains a strong partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and actively supports various local charities. Giving back to the community is a fundamental part of their values. One of their popular shakes, originally known as Jake's Shake, was renamed Rusty's Shake after the Penguins traded winger Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes. It's still the same fan-favorite blend of Oreos, brownies, and hot fudge. Be sure to try it, you won't regret it!

This is an odd sort of review, because the only chocolates I've eaten from here were the ones she tutored us to create. And...well...they were magnificent. So rewinding a bit... I was looking for gift idea for SB. A friend at work pointed me to a link to a listicle or PG article about a chocolate making class. I'd never heard of it before. Completely in the weeds. When I went to A519's webpage, it was not intuitively obvious to me where I could go to sign up. BUT...it's listed under "products"...https://shop.a519chocolate.com/products/private-truffle-making-class There...I made a link for you. If you love chocolate, or you love someone who loves chocolate, this class was really fantastic. It broke down a bit like this...(2 hours) 1) Introductions/qualifications/backstory (5 minutes) 2) Presentation about cacao to chocolate...bean to bar. Terminology, taste, geography (10-15 minutes) 3) Tasting...taste various types of "raw materials" used to make chocolate truffles, white chocolate, dulce, milk chocolate, various percentages of dark chocolate up to 85% (20 - 30 minutes) 4) Making chocolates (the remainder) Informative, entertaining, delicious, and satisfying. It's a working kitchen, but doesn't take up a ton of space, so a six person class can be a bit cramped, but not uncomfortably so. There was plenty of space for each couple to follow instructions and hands-on. We first decorated molds using cocoa butter sprinkles (a la Jackson Pollock), then painted with an air brush, then made ganache and tempered chocolate and poured and scraped, cooled and broke molds, each couple taking home 24 BEAUTIFUL truffles. SB likes 'experience gifts', and this one was a great experience for us both. And the truffles WE made were amazing, so I can't imagine how good the ones Amanda (owner/chef) produces would be. Strongly encourage (think: valentine's day gift).

They recently opened a pop up shop in central Lawrenceville which will be open through Feb 2018. When I arrived I met Amanda Wright's husband who is in charge of the shop. Chocolate truffles come in different size boxes and are very expensive. You can still order from Amanda either on-line or call her shop where she produces them if you are unable to come out. Boxes range anywhere from two to a box for $4.00 to about fifteen in a box for $30.00. Although they are grouped by category such as caramels, you are permitted to mix and match to your liking. I decided to opt for a champagne filled truffle and a dark chocolate one. They were box very nicely and I ate them when I got home. Believe me as always they are to die for! These chocolates are to be savored. Wine pairing also helps you enjoy the flavors better. I don't mind have to shelve out a little extra cash when I know something is extra special and believe me I have never been disappointed in any or their high end chocolates. If you are able to get to central Lawrenceville during the holiday season this place is a must if you want to get some of the best candy in the city. Amanda can also custom design a box using sports teams or beautiful art. This makes a great gift for someone who is indeed a chocolate lover.
