Unfortunately, this was our worst experience yet. My fiancé ordered a lobster tail, and I ordered a buffalo chicken Caesar wrap. We waited a long time for our meals, and when they finally arrived, the lobster tail was severely overcooked and extremely difficult to cut. For my wrap, things were even worse. When I started eating the second half, I took a bite and immediately felt something so hard that I thought I had broken a tooth. When I spit it out, I discovered it was a small rock buried in the middle of the wrap. We informed the waitress, who apologized and said she would call the manager and remove the wrap from our bill, but no explanation or concern was offered about how a rock ended up in the food. We've tried to support this local establishment multiple times, but between the consistently poor service and now a foreign object in the food, we can't justify returning. My lovely friend and coworker Angie at Black Dog Ranch (check out her account for adorable dog photos) has a beautiful ranch south of the city and she led me to these donuts that are the talk of Black Diamond. Naturally I had to get my hands on some. Rules for ordering your Westwood Donuts: 1 They change up their flavours every week, so if a round appeals to you, jump on it! 2 You have to place your order on Wednesday before they sell out. Don't press the snooze on this. 3 There's only a short window on Saturday for pick-up (12-3PM on Saturdays). Once you've completed the steps above, you're on your way to donut heaven. RATING: 9/10 - Westwood: Donuts The dough is everything you want it to be--soft, fluffy and fresh. It makes a great base for the various donut creations. I had the pleasure of trying these flavours: Chocolate Fudge Filled: With rich chocolate custard and coated in cinnamon sugar. You can't go wrong here. Banana Cream Pie: This tasted exactly like it sounds. Fragrant banana custard with whip and bananas on top. If you did a blind taste test, it would be hard to differentiate this from the real pie. Nerds Glaze: Imagine a blue raspberry starburst. This one was sweet, tropical and sour. Lemon Glaze: Pound cake in donut form. I adored the natural lemon flavour! The Banana Cream Pie stole my heart, but they were all worth writing home about. I can't wait to have an excuse to try these glorious donuts again and check out Westwood's food and patio. The "gravy" that was on top of the liver was a salty sludge. The vegetables were crucified. My dinner partner had fish and chips. It should have read "batter and chips." There was very little fish involved in the preparation of this dinner. It was 80 percent batter. When they asked us how our dinner was, we told the truth and said that it was awful. They said "oh, we will take $2.oo off your bill and give you free sodas." Do not waste your time or money going to Ricky's. It is safe to say that we will NEVER return to this horrible "restaurant."
