This is the second time we have eaten here. The first time, during COVID, was a great experience. But let me earn you, Saturday is not the day to go there. No real social distancing, and I saw servers grabbing left over non used single serve condiments and give them to other tables. After a half hour wait, our food arrived. Wrong, the server blamed the cook. And left. We never received the rest of our meal, then when we finally flagged done our server, she told us Sundays are busier and that was it. Stopped by for breakfast, the food was plentiful and good. I didn't like the pork sausage links (they were brown and serve) switched to the sausage patty and they were fine. It took forever to get my food. Steak and eggs should not take 30min. Then once the waitress brought it out, the steak was over cooked. I sent it back and they brought me one cooked to my liking. The diner is delightful in decor. There are a ton of vintage furnishings to take you back to a simpler time. However the food was not as impressive. My waffle tasted quite odd, rubbery and bland. Our waitress did not come back once to refill our drinks. Great cafe. Walked in mid-afternoon and promptly seated. Server had our drinks out to us quickly. Server came back and took our order within a few minutes. It's a diner. If you go in expecting anything else, you are going to be disappointed. If you want good diner food, you're in the right place. It had all of the appropriate diner kitch. Cute. The food was good. I don't usually order seafood at diners, but I figured we were in Louisiana, so I went for it. I had a shrimp po'boy. It was good. I enjoyed it. Boyfriend had a hamburger. The wait staff are wonderful. I went this morning specifically asked for my smoked sausage to be freshly cooked. It was cold. They cook all breakfast meats ahead of time to save time they sit under a heating lamp. Just nasty. My normal place for breakfast cost $8.97 for same meal it cost $15 and change and sausage was cold. Good service, good sweet tea, food....ehhh. I ordered "country boy breakfast" supposed to be Salsberry steak two eggs biscuit hash brown or grits. I opted for the home fries at a three dollar up charge, not worth it in my opinion. Salsberry steak came out very dry, it was basically just a hamburger patty. My eggs were undercooked I ordered them over medium which is supposed to be no running white, the whites were nowhere near done. The home fries were OK basically just grilled potatoes with onions and peppers I don't understand how they justify charging three dollars for it. My girlfriend liked her French toast, she said she's had better but they were pretty good. Overall it was a decent experience I've been here before and it was pretty good just kind of disappointed with this trip. I will definitely try again. Ordered food and then was brought my blt and told they were out of soup. My husband ordered catfish and shrimp. The fish and shrimp were supposed to be hand battered. The fish was clearly frozen tilapia and the shrimp was the smallest frozen popcorn size I've ever seen. A complete disappointment especially since the plate was 14.00. read more

Perfect place for a patty melt after our swamp tour in Slidell. We appreciated that they were open on New Year's Day!

My wife and I stopped by and ordered the catfish plate and a hamburger steak plate. The salad came out timely. We ate our salad and an hour later our food came. My hamburger steak was cold as was my wife's catfish. The only thing hot on the plate was the baked potato. Her onion rings were cold and stale. People came in after us ate and left before we even got our food. We saw a waitress drop a sugar container top on the floor and didn't even wipe it off before putting it back on. The special soup tonight was stuffed bell pepper soup, pretty decent! The waitress Amanda was charming, the restrooms are a little rough. The music should have been New Orleans style instead of 1950's generic diner. The deep fried food was decent, but the French bread was hard and thin. Iceberg lettuce is good on po-boys but it is boring on salads. The cheese on the baked potato wasn't melted. I had high hopes for this place since I love diners. The food is not good, at all!! I would have much rather had Waffle House breakfast across the road. I was traveling through Slidell to do a swamp tour and we stopped off for some generic diner food, which this place seems to offer. As a current northerner (Chicago) and former southerner (Alabama), I was pretty disappointed in the breakfast. The grits tasted like instant grits and the gravy on the biscuits tasted like it came from a powdered package (absolutely no sausage in it). The only positive was the pancakes (which the server recommended) and the service itself. However it was packed with locals who seemed to be ordering more sandwiches and burgers than breakfast items. My recommendation is to not eat here, but if you must, ask the server what's good and don't deviate. Or just get a club sandwich and fries--that looked good. read more

The restaurant is pretty clean. The hostess and waitress are very friendly. It is a nod to the 50's and the prices will not kill the average traveler. If you do not want the cookie cutter food from chain stores, this is your place to go. Grits are good. A true hidden gem, locals hangout. It is not a triple D gem (Diners, Drive-in and Dives), but it is up there. Triple D normally have something food unique that normal chain stores does not have. I wanted to make the eggs into a delicious omelet and was leery because it is $1.10 per added ingredient, that is wayyy too expensive. I can get a whole tomato for a $1.10. The reason why they even get the three stars is because the best part of being in the diner was the actual waitress she was super nice and attentive her name is Robin. We ordered our food and she quickly attended us and our food came however I asked for boiled eggs and I got cold eggs she hurried up and ask the chef To re-cook them but what he did was heat them up and return them back to her. However she did not except it and asked them to fully cook the egg as I had requested - we had to wait for it again for a while to the point I took it with me. The service with her was great -the food was OK not bad or great. What a huge disappointment . Sanitary: The bathroom is very very dirty looks like hasnt been cleaned in weeks!
