Not impressed, shrimp omelette was bland, definitely nothing creole about the sauce, the entire dish needed more flavor. The pancakes and biscuits were good,, maybe that was because they were made of a sweet batter/dough. The service from server was all well. I assume the large guy walking around looking miserable was the owner. He did not smile, speak, give any eye contact, nor say thanks or goodbye when we left, walked around looking like he had an attitude and installing a security camera while the restaurant is open for business and people are eating at nearby tables, something that should be done during non operating hours. Don't let this place fool you because it is small, "quaint" and local, or because of other star ratings. This spot was recommended by our neighbors for a great breakfast, so we decided to try it. They bragged on the grits, so we definitely had to try them. Food - It came out quick. It came out hot, and it tasted delicious. I'm not sure what kinda grits it is or what they put in them, but they were very flavorsome. I had the grits bowl, and my husband had the shrimp omelet with a side of grits. I got the bowl minus the country gravy because I just wasn't sure about that. There was salsa on the omelet, which was definitely handmand, no jar here. The biscuits are definitely homemade, and the butter is that soft, smooth butter just like I like. The prices are fair also. The Restaurant- Its a little house type spot, not big at all, and they have a couple of tables outside also. Nothing impressive, just a little joint that has good food. Seating is a little tight, but the restaurant was clean. Restroom-Now the restroom is small. It was definitely clean though. The sink could have been a little more to the right because it is directly in front of the toilet. Awkward for sure. Service- The service was great. We were seated quickly and the server greeted us timely and took our order. He was busy, but took care of what we needed quickly. They have other foods on the menu besides breakfast, but we ordered the breakfast. Maybe we'll go back another day and try the dinner. read more

We go here at least once a month from Abita. Everything we have tried has been delicious. Each time we go we try to get something new to try. From the owners to the employees make you feel welcome. This is a nice local mom and pop restaurant. They have a small parking area right next to it. The dining area is kind of cozy, aka small. They are not open everyday due to staffing issues so please check their hours before you go. They serve breakfast and Italian lunch. I was there for breakfast. So, I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. I wanted the potatoes, but unfortunately they were out, so I had to settle for fries. The sandwich was a full sized sandwich and I was decent. It had a little too much egg for my liking, but thats just me. The fries were the fries. It is hard to mess them up. I got some orange juice to wash down my meal. It tasted freshly squeezed. The service was ok. Pretty average and what you would expect I love to support local and this restaurant is the epitome of that. It is an ok place to visit. You could eat much worse. Italian Twist for Brunch * We have been wanting to try this spot but have not been in town to go. Well, we did Saturday Brunch and would absolutely come back. Small house looking space, greeted with the bar at the door and seating to the right. I asked how long it's been open and 26 years! I see why too * We got the Benedict, Deluxe Grit Bowl and The Godfather Omelette. These each came with a side of either potatoes or grits. I cannot speak for the potatoes because we all three got grits and they were the best I've had. Very creamy, smooth and not dry at all. Each of the dishes were good, but I will say the Godfather was spectacular. It had so many meatballs on the inside, mixed with the cream cheese that I still am not sure what kind is used. The marinara/pasta sauce over the top was very delicious and you can tell homemade * Overall very pleasant experience, and we will be back to try their lunch sometime soon. We were early dinning , our hostess was taking care of all the tables and walk inns and extremely busy but efficient in taking care of three tables at the same time. The meal started with the mozzarella sticks , very good the marinara was fresh and chunky . The salad served with entree was good but the star was the veal parmigiana. Pound thin but not to thin where it's nothing but breading , seasoned and so tender. The gravy , the same served with mozzarella sticks very good , hearty and fresh tasting. Came out for a late breakfast and ordered the crabcake Benedict with grits and blueberry pancakes. The restaurant itself is very small but they were practicing social distance and wearing masks. The waitress greeted us immediately and was friendly. Our food came out in about 15 minutes, it was hot and fresh. Unfortunately the crabcake had a lot of bread crumbs not much crab, the poached egg was cooked perfect but the grits needed seasoning. The blueberry pancakes looked awesome but they were extremely dry! I barely finished one, and I really wanted to like them but they were just too dry, although they looked very fluffy and pretty. 5 star service and food once again. We had Touch of Italy cater a party at our home. They arrived and set up in a timely matter with everything that was needed. They set up and gave us all the instructions needed and were gone before our guest arrived. When it was time to serve the food was not only delicious but it was still warm and fresh! Tucked away in Old Town Slidell is the world's best breakfast place with the world's best grits. The prices here are great for the quality, and the portions are large. Seriously, get the grits. I decided to try this place because a friend highly recommended it. I'm SO glad I did! I went for breakfast and got the early bird special. Two eggs, two pieces of bacon, grits and a biscuit. I added an order of sausage gravy. This was by far the absolute best breakfast I've ever had! The eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The biscuit was by far the best I've ever eaten. And the grits! For the first time in my life, I didn't have to doctor the grits at all! Absolute perfection! The staff was so helpful and friendly and the owner himself even came out to say hello!
