Fury's is a nice Italian restaurant off of Veterans in Metairie. The food is always fresh and tasty. If you want any of the specials with crabmeat though, you need to go early because they will run out. There is a full bar as well. Parking is limited so you might have to park across the street or at the business next door if they are closed. The lasagna was a special the day I went and it was very good. The onion rings are hand battered and excellent. The service is good but they always seem to be a little short staffed. Often it might be just the bartender and a waiter. read more

the food critic for the local paper in New Orleans had recommended a couple of restaurants tbd other day and one looked really good so we decided to check it out. The restaurant is located in Metairie near the Orleans Parish line. The restaurant does accept reservations but generally it's not needed. the restaurant is somewhat small and casual which was nice but also made it somewhat awkward if you sat in the walkway. we started off with the onion rings and then ordered the eggplant parmesan, the stuffed bell pepper with pasta, trout with seafood on top, and finally shrimp and pasta. the portions were a good size but it lacked flavor. the cheese on the eggplant parmesan tasted prepackaged and there was a lack of flavor for the sauce. we have been to other italian restaurants which have a better flavor and better sauce. the fish with seafood and sauce was decent as was the stuffed bell pepper, but the accompanying pasta had minimal flavor and the shrimp and pasta also had minimal flavor. overall a disappointing experience. decent portions but minimal taste of the food. the service was also not good and it was expensive so overall not worth it in my opinion read more

We found this place on Yelp since our regular "grab some fried shrimp as you leave NOLA" place is closed on Sunday. We are so glad they were closed. This place is a hidden gem. We've been coming to NOLA as a couple for 35 years and never knew about this place. We read the reviews of the long time customers crying because the original owners sold. We can't imagine it could have been any better since everything was delicious. They had some Sunday brunch items, but we came for seafood. We started with their fried onion rings. It is a huge order and the batter and seasoning are sheer perfection. We then ordered the fried seafood platter and we subbed more shrimp instead of the oysters. Do not shoot us, we just don't care for oysters. All of the seafood tasted so fresh came out piping hot and was fried perfectly. We enjoyed the brandy milk punches x3. If you have never had a brandy milk punch and you enjoy a creamy drink, get it. Their homemade blue cheese is excellent. Our server was Johnny on the spot and very friendly. We met who we thought to be the owner and maybe his son? At least we think he was the manager. They chatted with us for a bit and were very gracious. The restaurant is very intimate and cozy. I give it 3 stars and not 1 star because the new owner did comp the meal, but this meal was a true hot - or should I say - cold mess. The basics are, we went during the summer, and it was early before rush hour dinner around 530/6pm on a Friday, I believe. The restraurant was pretty humid and hot, but most restaurants were since this summer had record breaking heat and I don't think that anyone's ac could keep up. We were greeted somewhat timely by a not so friendly waitress. She took our drink orders and that was about the only thing she got right. The appetizers were all messed up. I ordered one app, but she tried to give me two. My mom ordered one app, and she tried to give her two... but she actually argued with my mom which was totally wrong of her to do and we were forced to take it. I realize after her screw up with my app, she was probbaly embarrassed to go back to the kitchen and admit she had another screw up, so she instad took it out on the customer, which in my opinion was the worst thing that happened. After that, I mean, only the fried food was correct as well as actually cooked. We got extra fries/missing apps. One dish was supposed to be blacked but it was fried, the waitress didn't say they weren't blackening the fish anymore that day. The other dishes were not even cooked, some dishes and sides were missing. So many things incorrect. The new owner came over and appologized and like I said comped the meal. He was truly pleasnt. He said the warmer was broken and so many other things.... Overall, we have not been back, but I may give them another chance when the new owners figure things out in a year or so. read more

I took the fam out here for dinner and had an excellent experience from start to finish. I got a fried flounder. They serve it like I've never seen before. The main center bone is removed, and it lays flat on the plate. It's a lot of fish! I couldn't finish the whole thing. The gumbo was excellent. Well the place was ok but the food wasn't, I had the fish and shrimp plate that was pretty good. My wife had the chicken Alfredo, the red sauce was not good her pasta was dry and hard on top like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. There wasn't any bread with her meal and had to pay little over four bucks for a side salad that was just some iceberg lettuce and 2 grape tomatoes. Our two friends with us had stuffed crab which was only a little ball . He didn't like the taste of it . His wife had a shrimp po boy , she said the bread was awful. Here's the thing...we have loved Fury's for over 40 years. Our go to place for all things delicious. We've noticed the last few times we've gone for lunch that the food is "off". Today it was downright awful. To begin with the server was by himself in the dining room and was clearly overwhelmed...however he was polite and helpful and apologetic on the wait. My husband got the seafood platter, something he's had many times before. The fish still had the bloodline or belly still intact and was flossy. Oysters were mostly crust, stuffed shrimp stuffing was sour and soft shell crab tasted spoiled. I got the pork chops which were good but over salted and the vegetable which was broccoli was plain ole nasty. I asked for my salad dressing on the side and it came drenched. I didn't bother the server with this as he was already running from table to table. The people beside us had to ask for them to put some seafood in their seafood gumbo and they both had the poboy and said the bread was hard. Everyone has bad night or lunch in this case but having noticed a decline recently I'd say the owners need to be aware. This place has classic New Orleans food, with a traditional neighborhood feel. The bar is awesome, a real local neighborhood bar. The drinks aren't too fancy, but it's just classic. Order the broiled flounder or the flounder with crab if you want a real treat. I was able to get attention quickly from the server who took care of me. She was funny and attentive. Found this place by accident while searching restaurants online. Don't know why we never heard of place, as we have eaten all over Metairie for 30 years. We have family and friends who live near who have never mentioned it. This spot has definitely flown under our radar. The place is small quaint and casual, which we like. The atmosphere is family friendly and it isn't too noisy. The parking is plenty due to the shopping center next door. We had never been here so we didn't realize the place was as busy as it was, so we had to wait 20 minutes. Next time we will make reservations. Sat at the bar and ordered some wine. Everyone was friendly. The menu has a good variety and we ordered the eggplant medallion appetizer and were surprised as this was the best fried eggplant we've ever had. My wife ordered the chicken Parmesan and I ordered the oyster and catfish plate. We impressed by the serving size. We couldn't eat all the food and both plates were really good. We had dinner here tonight. We have eaten here many times over the years but it had been some time. According to our server the restaurant was sold back in February and the food is supposedly the same. It has been remodeled and it looks great! I have never been served anything other than wonderful food at Fury's, but I must say this evening I ordered the crab salad and it was the BEST thing I have ever gotten there. It was perhaps the best crab salad I have ever had and I have eaten more than my share of crab salads. This one was maybe even better than Clancy's and that is saying something. We ordered an order of onion rings, crabmeat au gratin and broiled stuffed shrimp. The onion rings were good. The crabmeat au gratin was pretty good but they topped it with melted American cheese slices. For a $30 dish I would expect it to be topped with grated cheddar.
