    The Basic Chick Sandwich
    Stephanie R.

I'm not Vegan, but the depth of flavor on the Basic Chick-un sandwich, a plant-based bombshell, stole my heart! The shokupan bread is freshly sliced and grilled to perfection, and the root vegetables - rutabega and turnips, roasted, marinated, and sliced thin. This sandwich is filled with tofu mayo, plant provolone, our avomamé spread, and a gorgeous chefs blend sprout mix. Highly recommended!!

I buy extra when I can because of the minus side... It is almost impossible to get in here! I don't mind queuing up to wait at a restaurant, but every time I try to go they are lined up out the door. I have tried to go at off-times and it's still busy. Being so busy, the experience at the counter always feels rushed and there is nowhere to sit, so I never stick around once I have my bagels. I realize it's a good problem for a restaurant to have, but it still makes me want to go elsewhere. Most times I do. The bagels are a definite 5+ stars. The overall experience is 2 stars at best. Splitting the difference and giving them 3. I keep going back (well, trying to, at least) because the bagels are that good. Your results may vary. If you figure out a decent time to go in, give me a holler and let me know. I'll buy you a bagel!

The fresh bagels are delicious as are the house made cream cheeses. I got a half dozen to take home with everything and oat being faves but the cherry almond and pumpernickel didn't disappoint either. They have a nice serve yourself coffee bar offering all Abita Roasting coffee in all varieties. Creole Bagelry and Cafe also offers a huge selection of bennys, omelettes, Belgian Waffles and breakfast sandwiches , lunch sandwiches, salads and lunch platters. Don't skip the frozen coffees and teas !

My sandwich was great. I will definitely be back. One thing noteworthy: the parking lot at this location is wack. The lot is tight and the parking spaces are tiny, making it difficult to maneuver around the ubiquitous monster trucks and big SUVs. Several businesses share this teeny lot, but at off-peak times when places are closed it is easier to get in/out.

On multiple visits close to closing time (around 8:00 PM, with posted closing at 9:00 PM), employees were rude, dismissive, and appeared unwilling to serve customers. While I understand that staff may be preparing to close, customers should still receive courteous service during all posted business hours. During one visit, while I was briefly speaking with someone, an employee repeatedly called my name three times within about 15 seconds to remove my to-go order from the counter. The interaction felt unnecessarily impatient and disrespectful. At the same time, another customer was still dining in the restaurant and there were approximately 15 minutes remaining before closing. On a separate visit, when we placed a to-go order, the employee seemed bothered by having to take the order and stated they were out of brisket. Whether or not the item was actually unavailable, the attitude and lack of customer service were noticeable. What concerns me most is that these were not isolated incidents. There appears to be a pattern of poor customer service during the last hour of business. Customers should not feel unwelcome simply because they choose to visit later in the evening while the restaurant is still open. I am sharing this feedback because I enjoy this location and would like to continue supporting it. However, the current staff could benefit from additional training in professionalism, friendliness, and customer service. I hope management will address these concerns so that all guests receive the same level of service throughout operating hours.

I did some searches, found this place on Google, and decided to give them a shot. I was ordering for multiple people, so I ended up getting 2 po-boys, a falafel wrap, and baklava. One of the people who got a po-boy said it wasn't regular mayo on the po-boy, but rather either tahini or tzatziki. Now mind you, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but could be jarring for someone not expecting it. The falafel and baklava were mine. I thought that the falafel wrap was good: flavorful and saucy. It was a bit messy, but I seem to always make a mess when eating falafel sandwiches. I was excited about the baklava, but unfortunately it wasn't very good. Maybe it had been sitting for a while, I don't know, but the flaky pastry had lost some of its flakiness/crispiness and had become a bit chewy instead. One odd thing is that you get your food bagged at the checkout counter, which is separate from the food counter. This doesn't sound bad in theory, but meant I ended up carefully holding 3 hot sandwiches, a small takeout container, and a menu while waiting in line at the checkout counter. The man at the register was very friendly though, and recommended their chicken shawarma; I'll have to try that at some point. It bears mentioning that along with food and typical convenience store items, this place also has a meat counter/market. They sell things like raw steaks, ground meat, turkey wings, pork necks, chicken drumsticks, sausage, etc.
