We love the build-your-own-bowl options and are always impressed by the amount of toppings, proteins, and sauces that they have available. The large bowl comes with 3 proteins, which is quite generous. You can choose from seafood items like tuna, salmon and shrimp or even chicken and beef. For around $16, you'll get you quite a protein packed bowl. I also love that for the bases I can do half rice and half salad! I can never decide between the two, so being able to get both is a huge win in my book. Every time we've gone we do takeout and the food is always fresh and prepared quickly. The restaurant itself has plenty of parking, so picking up an order is quite easy. The one thing I don't like is that avocado is an extra $1.25, ha! read more

Big Fin Poké, we're so happy to have you in South Portland now! Located in an easily accessible strip mall with plenty of parking, this is definitely my preferred location over the Westbrook spot. I also think the lay-out inside seems much more wide-open and spacious. Loved how clean it was, loved how bright it was, and loved the abundance of seating that didn't seem to disrupt the flow of customers in line ordering. I don't usually eat alone at a restaurant, but I felt super comfortable doing so here (especially at the bar by the windows)! This is probably my favorite kind of lunch food: healthy, light, and filling. Love how many options there are, love that I can get the same thing every time but adding ONE different ingredient changes the entire experience, love how patient the staff is with indecisiveness. My go to seems to be a bowl with sushi rice, fried tofu, sweet onions, edamame, shiitake mushrooms, avocado, pickled ginger, and topped with fried wonton crisps. YUM. I just wish BFP wasn't so expensive. Like, I totally get it: it's both quality and premium ingredients so they have to charge a bit more. But that's what prevents me from making this a regular stop. My only other issue? I wish they'd label what's vegan; currently, they label what's gluten-free (this is on the glass case between the customers and the employees), and that's awesome, but... throw a V up there for us, yeah? read more

I was pleasantly surprised. This place is huuuge on the inside. Went around 3 and we were the only people there. There is a preset menu where you can select different bowls and also a menu where you can build your own poke. My husband got the classic shoyu and really liked it. I got the spicy tuna and thought it was great. Fish was really fresh. The bowls come in two sizes, regular and large. The regular was too much for me to finish in one sitting, however my husband ate all of his. I will be back to try more for sure. Plenty of parking.
