I always think it's amazing how fresh and clean these franchises are. The service is usually good, this one was a little wonky and hurried, I felt stressed making my choices. The man behind the counter was loud with the guest ahead of me. Not because he was being angry, he was merely being clear. Salmon with their new fried chicken was today's combo. With pineapple, corn, kimchi, edamame and cucumber. They have a sweet and spicy sauce here that's perfectly balanced and highly recommended by yours truly.

Oh, Big Fin Poke. How I misjudged you. As a longtime Crunchy Poke aficionado, I had trouble finding space in my heart for yet another poke place in the greater Portland area. Here's what Big Fin Poke does that sets it apart: - Offers a snack/regular/large size (as compared to just one mega bowl) - Mixes the fish with the sauce (the Hawaiian way) before placing it atop the rice - Operates in a Chipotle-line-esque way - Sells Spam Musubis (Maine needs more of these, if you ask me) Great for a quick, healthy, sit-down lunch (or for those on the go). Friendly staff, clean space, delicious poke.

Great fresh food and friendly service. I often pop in to get something different from pizza and tacos or any fast food. Love both locations and glad they stayed around. Inside is always neat and clean..

I highly recommend Big Fin Poke especially this location. The staff is friendly and attentive. One thing I love about BFP is that they are always generous on their serving size. I usually eat a half then save the other half for later. This location is perfect with plenty of seatings and it's always clean. Hands down one of my favorite spot for a poke bowl in Portland. If you want a snack for later grab a spam teriyaki musubi to go!

Always love a good poke bowl from Big Fin Poke. I haven't been to this location before as I typically go to the Rock Row location but it was just as good and fresh! I always get tuna, it's my favorite. This place is like Chipotle for bowls. You got down the line and get to add toppings and such. I love it here!

I miss the flagship Westbrook store. Big Fin continues to disappoint at this location. Prices up, portions down and skimpppyy on the rice. But the 2 star review is because I was given old, dry cucumbers. Ever have a old dry cucumber? It's rubbery, and unpleasant. If im spending almost $20.00 on a poke bowl and you can't make sure the cucumbers (which are incredibly cheap) fresh? I'm done with you.

Tasty, well packed and still hot when arriving home 1/2 hour later. Fresh ingredients and well prepared.

Stopped in to visit Big Fin Poke for dinner one evening during vacation. Ordered a custom Poke bowl with salmon, and a bunch of fresh veggies, herbs, chiles, and toppings! I love that I can get a Poke bowl that has greens and no rice. Everything was fresh and delicious! Service was good! #BigFinPoke

Obsessed. Huge portions, great prices, and so freaking fresh! We've been going to Big Fin Poké for a while now and we honestly can't get enough. We love the build-your-own-bowl options and are always impressed by the amount of toppings, proteins, and sauces that they have available. The large bowl comes with 3 proteins, which is quite generous. You can choose from seafood items like tuna, salmon and shrimp or even chicken and beef. For around $16, you'll get you quite a protein packed bowl. I also love that for the bases I can do half rice and half salad! I can never decide between the two, so being able to get both is a huge win in my book. Every time we've gone we do takeout and the food is always fresh and prepared quickly. The restaurant itself has plenty of parking, so picking up an order is quite easy. The one thing I don't like is that avocado is an extra $1.25, ha!

Dropped in for a poke bowl, but ended up getting a poke burrito (pokerrito) instead since we were heading to the airport. This fast casual restaurant looks great for custom poke and they even offer beer & wine. It didn't take long to get my food and head out and I thoroughly enjoyed the tasty pokerrito. Hopefully I'll remember this place next time we are in town.

Good and fresh. In the area for a month for work. Loved that I found a good poke place with fresh seafood. I'll be back.

Still affordable with brisk take out traffic. The fish and other toppings remain fresh and delightful. Happy to support.

Sushi obviously isn't inexpensive, but compared to many places in Portland it's quite reasonably priced if you order non-speciality rolls. The eel avocado roll is especially good and I have also enjoyed the fatty tuna and yellowtail/scallion. I think what makes this place special though is that it appears the owner is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations. I believe he works as a sushi chef sometimes and I've also passed by late at night and seen him cleaning the glass on the front door. The waiters seem genuinely happy to be working there and seem to be friends with each other. They also seem to have strong intra-restaurant culture such as greeting people who walk in the door with the same greetings that I heard when I was in Japan and saying "corner" every time they're rounding a corner with food. The patio outside is delightful. There's a waterfall and the space has the feel of a Japanese tea garden. Really special place. It can feel a bit buzzy/sceney on the weekends, for better or worse. Definitely a special restaurant worth going to.

Every sushi roll was fresh and packed with different fish. We loved the option to sit at the traditional Japanese tables on the floor, it reminded me of when in Japan. It took a bit of time for the sushi to come in, but we did order quite a bit (so worth it) They had a painting on the wall featuring the sushi chefs from 2020 and they told us that the same sushi chefs are still working here! It was very heart warming.

I had to try it. Our server, Helena, was friendly and personable. She was also very attentive, and gave wonderful suggestions on food and drinks. Would come here again. They were delicious, but not the best buns I've had. Would order them again. Duck Ramen: 5/5. If there is duck on the menu, I will be ordering it. Have I ever seen duck ramen on a menu? No. Did I order it? Yes. Did it live up to my unrealistic expectations? Absolutely! The duck was cooked perfectly, the ramen was flavorful, and smelled absolutely heavenly. We got brussel sprouts and pork gyoza to share: the brussel sprouts were phenomenal and we ate them so fast (lol), the pork gyoza could have used a bit more flavoring for me personally but the meat inside was super tender! I ordered the chicken shio ramen and it was pretty good, but I maybe would've like some more spice in there, so maybe I should've ordered something different! My partner got the beef short rib buns which he loved. The service was pretty fast and we were able to be seated quickly which was great as we were starved! Mr. Tuna is one of three Open Table Exclusive restaurants in Maine, so most every local Chase Reserve card member uses their twice yearly $150 credit here, which explains my visit. The people watching from the outdoor tables on Middle Street must be some of the best in the city. You could easily sip a glass of sake (the dreamy clouds was...dreamy) while eating a toro maki roll and marveling at the tourists waiting in a two hour Eventide line. But we ordered the lemongrass fried tofu salad, salmon toro sashimi and 3 maki rolls, including the green crab special. Everything tasted fresh and excellent with only Yosaku in the same league for Old Port sushi. Of course Yosaku is much more authentic Japanese than Mr. Tuna, though Mr. Tuna is more fun. Like most trendy Portland restaurants, lunch for two with a couple drinks each is $200 all in (get that Chase card!). Still, this is a huge, inventive menu with a great bar program and is one of the surprisingly better summertime outdoor seating options.
