Big Jim himself
Ward K.

We drove by Big Jim's BBQ and saw people waiting in line at this lunch truck and wondered how it tasted. One day we were thinking of where to eat at so I suggested that we try out Big Jim's BBQ. We drove into that big lot and as soon as we opened the car door, we smelled that wonderful aroma of BBQ. Our mouths were watering. As we were looking at the menu, Big Jim himself came up to us. He is a really nice and friendly guy. He explained the menu to us and we placed our order. We got our food and took it back to our place. We got the ribs and the brisket. They both had a nice smokey taste and a nice sauce. My ribs were a little bit dry but the brisket was nicely done. So if you are hungering to put some Southern BBQ in your mouth, stop by and see Big Jim and his crew and get some tasty meat in your mouth!

The glory of Big Jim's Big Smoker

Stopping at Big Jim's is an experience. You've got the big smoker on the corner to draw you in and, once you're there, the friendly, personable, and engaging character that is Big Jim. This man and his crew seem do a great job of engaging every guest that stops by. The BBQ is good, certainly not the best I've had but definitely not the worst. I had the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The pork wasn't pulled, but rather chopped. The meats are well smoked but I feel like mine were pulled from the smoker prior to my arrival and had been resting for a little longer than I want for the price I paid. The sauce is tasty but not to my liking (I like to think I'm most picky about my sauce when going to any BBQ joint). It is thick, which is nice, but cinnamon is the most prevalent flavor. Finally, my two sides were fantastic. Beans and potato salad were on point, and top quality. It is relatively expensive but they are not shy with the portions, so I think it's worth it. Overall, I recommend stopping by and trying it. BBQ is unique in that there really is no standard way to measure "great" BBQ---people enjoy different style and what I find good, you may find great.

Brisket

I had high hopes for the bbq after seeking the giant smoker and meeting owner Jim who spoke with a genuine southern drawl. I ordered brisket, specifying a moist (fatty) cut. The brisket was not particularly moist; it was a bit chewy; and it came drenched in a sauce. Good smoky flavor, however. I hope to give a better rating when I try the ribs.

I've never posted a food review before, but this little BBQ truck has compelled me to begin. I just moved to Parker a few months ago and have lived in the south and St. Louis prior. You can always tell what good real barbecue is and these guys got it. The woman was very friendly who served me. It was a bit pricey and a little bit of a wait. But you end up waiting and paying for some damn good food. Watching the guy open up the meat smoker when you're hungry is pretty near to a sexual experience. If you're around and have the opportunity, TRY THIS PLACE.

We have been visiting Big Jim's since 2012. The beans are our favorite!!! We definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

This is one of our favorite "rib joints". I love the smokiness that sinks into the meat and the peach pie can't be beat!

I could tell this place was going to be good because it was packed out at 11:30 AM on a Saturday. We decided to stop by and most people were ordering very large orders for takeout, but they have a good number of tables both inside and outside. The food takes a while to come, but that just means that it is all freshly prepared, and the staff are so nice and even give free samples. I went with the Kids meal brisket with the Potato salad and added a Sweet potato with the candied pecan butter. I seriously have no words -- all of these things were so delicious, and the amount of meat that you get even with the kids meal is more than enough to fill me up, especially with the rich sweet potato and potato salad on the side. I will be back as soon as I can, their hours are limited, and the drive is a little out of the central Denver area, but it is so worth it

That was missing here, the first indication that all would not go well. I soldiered on anyway, and ordered the 2 meat plate, pulled pork and brisket, with an extra rib bone and collard greens and beans for sides. The brisket and pork were both dry and had no smoke flavor. The rib was so small (an end piece) that they gave me 2; they were both overcooked and had very little meat on them. The sides were the only good part of this meal, but sides do not great barbecue make, hence the 2 stars. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pitmaster visited our table and took our criticism with good grace, even offering to replace our food to see if they could do better, but I was done. I won't be returning.

The server was quick to take my order and friendly. Definitely glad I got it to go because it was a bit loud due to a large group being there. Food took a little bit of time to make but definitely well worth the wait. The beans were very sweet and yummy. Mac and cheese slaps your taste buds with so much flavor. The ribs on the 2 meat platter I only got 3 of them and a huge link but for the price I thought it was worth it. Can't wait to come back and try the wings and the different types of sauces they got. It included a Hawaiian roll as well. I also got a banana pudding for a sweet treat. The Bbq sauce was top tier on the ribs- absolutely delicious. The rib meat was tough... but overall had great flavor. The Mac & cheese was dry, but green beans were pretty good! Banana pudding was a custard base and was thick and creamy and so worth it. Will absolutely be back to try more of their sauces and for more of that banana pudding Love that they endorse local businesses, right when you walk in there is a table full of cards for cleaning, dispensary deals, stickers, barbers, etc etc. The young ladies working were very friendly!
