I have nothing but great things to say about this place and it's wonderful employees! I was here on vacation and got a flat tire. I chose this place because of other similar, positive reviews, so I called and Karen told me to bring the tire in as soon as I could and they'd look at it. I brought it there and left it with them, it was less than an hour when she called me back and said I was all set, come in anytime before 4 and they'd even take my spare off and put my tire back on. And she wasn't kidding, Jamie had the spare off and the repaired tire back on before I even came back out of the office after paying Karen the extremely reasonable price I was charged. We got a nail in our tire while at the national park on vacation. Karen at the front desk quickly took care of us and the mechanic had us in and out within 1/2 an hour. They are amazing! We needed a new tire on Friday afternoon at 4 pm. We were headed for a week stay at nearby Massanutten. They needed to order the tires with delivery Monday. So we would have use of our car for the weekend they fitted us with a loaner tire!! They quickly installed our new tire on Monday. They couldn't have been nicer, more efficient and reasonable. Wow. We got a dead battery up in Shenandoah, got a jump and called these folks on our way down the mountains. When we arrived, they got the car in immediately, identified we did indeed needed a new battery, and got us settled for a fair price. Couldn't have had a faster turnaround. Update 10/2017: as a result of my post, Big L contacted us providing a full refund. Yes, we did have the experience with them as posted, but with the follow up discussion, we are hopeful changes are being made to address the in house issues they face. We do think they are sincere about effecting the changes needed. 5/2017 Sloppy workmanship. Poor managerial support. Work could have cost us our lives and others on the road. We are from the area originally. Business used to be managed well. Sold. Heard it went downhill. It did. Took Dodge 3500 in for new front tires. Go to son's college graduation. Go to truck. Right front tire flat. Person dispatched. Can't find us. Busy time for college town. We talk to him. He goes back to shop. Doesn't call! No call telling us he was going back. After 5 on Friday. Waited ~1.5 hours on this part. Didn't understand he wasn't coming. He calls no one! We are sitting there waiting after his last call to us. Call shop. After hours now. Dispatch gets repair there fairly quickly. Another guy shows + their mgr. So two repair + one mgr. They find poor seal. Fix. We even tip guys. We miss all photo ops with son and family. Only day it didn't rain that weekend. Took over five hours to resolve while mgr, George Shiftlett, shares with us all the great trips he took out West/Canada to hunt. We were trying to be civil. This business cost me only photo op time with my only son on his undergrad graduation. They could care less after speaking to George. He actually laughed at me when I got passionate about the impact to our lives. Now, Skip forward one week. Pulling 21K of RV. 31K total. Just get west of St Louis. The steering wheel is now moving from 12 o'clock position to 9 o'clock position. They didn't tighten things properly when doing front end alignment! Have audacity to say they don't know if we brought it in that way. Only reimburse us for alignment we had to do in Kansas City. Yes, we drove it not realizing the magnitude of their mistake. Stay away and if you go, take pics of truck condition with date/time stamp. Unethical business dealings. And not my issue mentality. We brought our truck into their shop in excellent working condition. They are lucky those nuts didn't back off completely in rush hour traffics while we were pulling. They could care less. Stay away. Totally unprofessional. Only about the dollar to them. read more

Stopped at Big L Tire today, as our van's exhaust system was getting somewhat louder than usual. They put the van on a lift, raised it up, and checked the exhaust front to back. They found 2 small holes in the muffler. I explained we were about 300 miles from home, and should I replace it now. They said it should not be a problem for the ride home, just a bit noisier than nor. They also looked at the tires, brakes, etc. while up on the lift, and said all looked fine, and we should be good to go. They would not take any money for their time. I brought my vehicle in because my steering wheel was vibrating and I was worried about a safety issue. I had just days before had all tires balanced and the problem was continuing. I went in and left them the car to figure out what the issue was ... I was prepared for the worse. In the end, the shop said it was the balance. I was having a hard time believing that because of the previous balance. They could have easily made up something, etc. They balanced the tires and that solved the problem. I am a very satisfied customer of Big L Tire in Elkton for the past 15 years. Bobby has been the manager as long as I've been a customer and he's very accommodating and knowledgeable. I buy all my tires at Big L and have all my oil changes done here, and I've never had a problem. The quality of service is topnotch. I always make an appointment a day or 2 ahead, and they are always ready to work on my car when I arrive. There is never any overselling of services or products that aren't needed like is so common at some automobile dealerships and service centers. read more
