This place would be great if it weren't for how expensive it is. It was a military morale event and we paid 27 each person to play and 5 dollars for admission per adult. Who charges players for admission??? There are multiple baseball fields, a batting cage, playground, skatepark, and concessions with a bar. Baseball fields and playground are well kept and safe. The concessions have BIG LEAGUE pricing for mediocre food. I got a double cheeseburger for 10 and received chewy flavorless frozen patties. 3$ for a small bag of chips. My friend payed almost 17$ for a beer and a water. It's a nice place but the prices are terrible. read more

This was a first time visit and they did not disappoint. I was amazed as i walked up to this place. It is 1st class all the way. It looks like a big league stadium. LOL My nephew place select baseball and he lives in Lafayette so I don't get a chance to see him play but this particular weekend they were in town! It was no way I was gonna miss this. After arriving I entered and found out that there are a series of baseball diamonds not one big one like i thought. They are named after big league stadiums. I found their diamond and man was it hot out there. I also found out that behind home plate was a concession stand. This was not like a regular concession stand. There was a glass front that faced the diamond and it was air conditioned! You could see the whole game without having to leave out! I found my niece and her husband in here. I thought this would have made my day but it gets better. They have a wide variety of food to eat that was pretty good. I had their wings and they were delicious! The icing on the cake was they had a full bar!!! I thought it was only beer but I was mistaken. I was able to enjoy the type of drinks I liked and be in air conditioned comfort and able to watch my nephews team. This is such a difficult place to review. I've had some of the worst experiences here as well as some very good ones. I'll start with the first thing you'll face when you get here, the payment to get in. It is $3 to get in on weeknights and $5 to get in on Friday nights and the weekend. I understand you are running a business, but when you pay to get in somewhere all equipment should be running properly and customer service should be above average, in my opinion. You do get a $1 off food token when you pay to get in though and getting to play on replica baseball fields is a cool concept. The next topic is the equipment. The batting cages work properly about 1 in 5 times, the scoreboards on the fields and the air conditioning inside were halfway operational this whole past season, and the water fountains in the dugouts rarely work. Again, I understand this is a business and there will always be something going wrong, but that's not an excuse to leave problems unattended. Finally we get to the customer service. When you go into the office, you will be treated well about 95% of the time, depending on who you talk to. At the bar and restaurant area, I've encountered some extremely friendly staff and some on the other end of the spectrum. It's about a 50/50 of what type of mood you'll get on any given day. All in all this place is pretty cool, but needs some work. I will say that if I can find another league that compares, I will go to the other place in a heartbeat. It's tough to pay over $100 to play in a 10 week softball season when other leagues offer the same for less than half that. read more

Putting the Houston weather aside this is a great place for baseball games. The fields are really nice and well maintained. My son classifies this place as "unfair" to the kids playing. Maybe, but I think it's awesome for the adults... You can actually sit in the air conditioning eating and drinking (including beer) while watching your child sweating his ass off on the field trying to win a game. The clubhouses are perfectly situated in the middle so you can watch the games on each field in a cool place. There is outside seating too including stands and picnic tables if you dare. It gets 4 stars because I think the entry fee of $5 for a little league game topped with major league baseball food prices along with a ban from bringing in your own picnic, water, Gatorade etc. seems a little too strict. When these boys are living at the fields for two days I should be able to bring in additional Gatorade and water for back-up instead of having to buy a $4 fountain Gatorade (they don't sell them in the bottles). I also don't think kids should be limited to pizza, burgers etc. during game breaks. We should be allowed to bring in fruit or other lighter healthier options if needed instead of having to exit the park to snack in the car. I am not opposed to bad food by any means but bar food isn't ideal for players especially on really humid days. Overall nice fields. Next time I will sneak in a few bananas and overflow his baseball bag with waters and Gatorade. read more

I hate writing bad reviews but this place has gotten so bad I had to do it. I've been playing softball out here for nearly a decade and they have let this place go to trash. Batting cages never work, toilets are broken, no one cares about repairs or keeping up appearances. We pay a good amount of money to play out here and should be able to expect reasonable upkeep. All of the staff is great and I have no complaints there, but management obviously doesn't care and it shows. As I write this one of the men's bathrooms has three toilets covered in garbage bags and out of order and the remaining two toilets are disgusting. Concept is good. Some of Fields designs are loose and not effective. Bleacher seats are a nice touch. We were only at the Sportsman Park & Wrigley Field, so I can only speak of that area. Restaurant area - PLEASE PLEASE clean the tables on a regular routine! Need to replace carpeting....well, it just needs updating. Definitely only a 2-3 star place. Food was pretty good. BUT seriously consider not serving alcoholic beverages on days you host children's teams. I was disappointed! read more

Worst field ever. This field doesn't even deserve 1 star. Not only do they charge you to come in, you can't bring anything in, not even for the players. The concession is substandard at best. No one over the age of 21 seems to be present. Way over priced for frozen, crappy food. The seats are cheap, dirty, plastic. The ground outside, the carpet inside are always dirty & sticky. Doors are hard to open & always squeaky. The restrooms are always dirty & not very big. I have been a fan of baseball for 15 years. It's always been nice to come out to softball and baseball stadiums, parks, etc. This center was one I found about 30 minutes from Galveston and my mother has played with teams here. There's many things that this location has with softball and baseball. Parking is huge, but you have to get there early because others come in the park around the time it opens. Therefore if you don't get a good spot, be prepared for some parallel parking. Then you walk up and pay a good $3 to get in for the whole day. If you leave to go somewhere, they'll just stamp your hand as a re-entry to get back in. The infields are turf, and it is easier for people to play in tennis shoes instead of cleats because there's no dirt. The bases are about 60 feet in between each other, as opposed to a regular baseball field length (90 feet). They also have seats behind home plate for spectators, and the dugouts are a nice look to them. The umpires do bat inspection before game time, so if you have a bat, make sure it's a playable one according to them. The outfield is plain grass, but sometimes it looks like it's in bad shape. This is the only problem I have with these fields. The grass could be dangerous with this condition, but other than that, the whole field is large, and fun to play on. Just be aware, if you're a spectator, that bats, balls, and other items might go foul. Just be ready to move out of the way. They also have batting cages for baseball and softball. There's different categories as to which speed you want, and if you want softballs or baseballs. I usually bring my bat and helmet to practice when I am there. Plus, you pay 4 tokens you can get from the token machine near the front of the park. If you want to do batting practice, come on out to the cages here. There is an indoor concession stand inside the area, where you can sit down and have a drink, or talk to a team. The prices are reasonable, and they sometimes have black coins you can get for a dollar off of your order. It's like a Minute Maid Park concession stand, but the prices are cheaper. Restrooms are clean, usually. The staff members are polite and so are the umpires. If you are a softball or baseball fan, come out and see how these athletes play and how decent this place is. It is a fun place for teams to play on and to watch the co-ed teams if you are interested. This was an interest to me when I found this park near Galveston. read more

If your dreams are mostly nightmares this is the place for you. First time experience at BLD as it sounded like a cool concept. Well our 9U teams second pool game was scheduled to begin at 8:15 PM. Ok they are 9 but lets roll with it. Actual start time two hours later. How do you get 2 hours behind on timed games with no weather? I have seen some officiating over the years that left the bar pretty low. Well the BDL crew stepped up and said, "Hold my beers." They in a single night set a low that I expect I will not see again in my lifetime. They obviously had no idea how to time a game so why should I expect they can call one. I'm not talking about questionable calls here and there (and there were many of those). I'm talking about full on incompetence. Not knowing the count, how many outs there are at any given time, what the score is (by the way when you are playing a home team with questionable morals this gets even better). The opposing coach was warned at one point, he would be ejected, if he said anything else to the umps after asking them to pay better attention to the game. The outfield ump seemed to be writing him memoirs during the game so I can see how he was distracted. It does however become a challenge to call a baseball game and simultaneously record, in prose, how Bob hurt his feelings in 8th grade by not inviting him to his birthday party. We do video all our games so we watched the video. The video replay confirmed the incompetence on the field. I can tell you we will never return. I personally do not have the inclination to try to explain to a 9 year old how this type of incompetence is acceptable at any level of baseball nor have a kid wonder why a ball on a 3-1 pitch doesn't get a walk. Congratulation BLD you are officially the best at something in my book, if you can count being the best at incompetence, as a best. read more

What a great concept. Been here twice now with my kid, just to hit in the batting cages. They charged me $5 the first time and $3 the second just to get through the main gate. That's cool. It costs a buck for a token. Once again, cool. Everything is great until you get to the actual cages and half of them have an out of order sign on them. Then you get into the cage, insert a token and watch the first 5-10 balls fly six feet over your kid's head in the slow pitch cage. Then after a couple he can actually swing at come through, it starts mid-feeding. So you sometimes get maybe half way through the round. You ask the teenagers working to give you a little help and sometimes they hustle out to try and fix the problem, other times they come walking out like your bugging them. Today, two different cages kept mis-feeding on us. We decided to leave and I had 3 tokens left. I told him that I wanted my money back because the machines kept screwing up, and I only got about a quarter's worth of the five dollars that I already spent. He told me he couldn't refund me for that, (even though his workers witnessed the whole thing),but he would give me three bucks for the tokens I had left. I told him that was frustrating and that they need to get those things fixed. As he was counting money at his desk he claimed they had the World Series this past weekend and it burned up two motors. That has nothing to do with the balls feeding. We will not be back. It's a shame because as much money as this place rakes in, this batting cages should be way better. I only go here for the batting cages - so this review is only for that part of the complex. The batting cages work only maybe 10% of the time. And even then the machines eat your coins, someone often has to go turn on the machine manually, and 10% of the balls just dribble out of the machine. It is incredibly frustrating to pay an entrance fee + $ for tokens only to be able to hit one round of balls (if you are lucky) before they tell you that the machines aren't working anymore. read more

I asked the kid at the desk if there was any way they could adjust it so it would actually throw strikes and no even bothered coming out to help us. This is by far the trashiest, unprofessional establishment I have ever been to. We just lost a rookie coed playoff game to a AA team. A team in which, the "management" admitted, were misplaced earlier in the season. After being forced to take an out at the beginning of the game, a rule completely made up by the "ump," we argued our case with a print out of the rules - which were never even considered and were told that we were in the wrong. So, we lose 17-2. No problem losing. However, losing to bad business practices and this place season-after-season making huge operational and accounting mistakes - does not sit right with me. We have even offered solutions to their management for their deficits and "it's not my fault" character. For instance, why not have players provide identification at the placement games, to ensure we are not misaligned in a league - where players most definitely sandbag to then win a championship in a league considerably below their skill set. Or, better tracking on the "points" earned throughout a season - so that your players are not having to (embarrassingly) correct your simple math errors. Or perhaps, employing unbiased, competent gentlemen who can and will read and memorize the rule book and uphold the integrity of the game as well as this establishment. Each season, we return, with hopes that this business has righted their many wrongs--but to no avail. It is very frustrating and demoralizing to those that are not, in the least bit, athletic, but enjoy the team-ship of the game. We appreciate the offer of comp'ing our team fees next season, but really you should refund every team in the rookie league this year for your mismanagement, through no fault of the teams on our own. It was also a classy touch, that when we consulted management re: the made up "beginning the game with an out" rule - we notified our ump, who undoubtedly was high on drugs, that he had made a grave mistake snarkily countered us with: "it's not my fault, yall got your asses beat!" What kind of professional, unbiased person representing a company and a team sport says that with children around?! Here's my last bit of advice: survey your patrons, listen to their suggestions, make necessary changes, and save this business - or it's going to end up a big slab of emptiness in 5 years. Also, I would like to add: not (continuing to) employ ex-cons to officiate your games should be a start. read more

first time went no atm worked and would not give us cash back from debit card to use batting cages. so left and went to atm came back and then batting cages never take tokens they just spit them out and then the guy had to stay out at the machines cause kept not feeding balls. went back second time to give another chance. this time as usual would not take tokens and when it did finally take them it wouldnt work you had to find someone to go out and turn on the machine manually. i will not be going back! read more

The staff is incredibly rude and not helpful. The batting machine is ridiculous. First you have to pay the cover charge to enter the park and then $1 for about 10-20 balls. I say 10-20 because half the time the machines, at least the ones that work, shoot blanks. 4 of the 8 machines don't work, 1 was basically useless, and the other three misfed or dribbled the ball 3-4 feet in front of the place. When asking the batting cage attendant to fix it or actually corral balls so that there were enough for the machines to throw, he refused. Went and got a supervisor and he wasn't able to fix any of them either. A complete waste of money, not only on the money for the batting cages, but also because we had to pay an entry fee. The League City complex has really gone down hill over the past few years. My latest visit on Sunday 05/03/2015 for a Baseball Tournament was a lesson that some things never change. As you enter the run down complex the first thing you will see is the sign at the main gate is missing letters and should be a warning for how far they will let things go. Your next stop is at the gate where they charge you a entry fee even though you have already paid a tournament fee (nice touch). Mind you that you cannot bring anything in and that includes a Gatorade for your player and for a adult you better suck down that coffee before they make you trash it (hopefully not a $5 Starbucks but they sell their own about as pricy for dirty dishwater coffee). After leaving the gate (feeling dirty and cheated) you proceed to one of the many fields that are run down and in need of repair. Be mindful as you enter the "Clubhouse" for refreshments if needed, you need you AMEX Black card to roll thru here. It was nice to receive two "Small" cups of ice at $3.25 each cup, yep that's right $6.50 for two small cups of ice to fill them up with water for players. I did splurge on a $4.00 Jumbo Hot dog (not sure where the Jumbo part came from unless it was Jumbo rip off scheme), while I waited and waited I was able to watch the fine folks of Big League Dreams crew supposedly cleaning (wiping off the counters onto the floor) when they decided to make my hot dog the young man who had been mopping (pushing dirty water around the kitchen floor) and wiping off counters with his dirty towel decided to make it. Needless to say as I watched him use his dirty bare hands on my "Jumbo" dog I promptly told them to keep it and refund my money. The supposed Supervisor need some training as he was not sure what to do to actually get more out of the register but they know how to put it in there! Inside the "Clubhouse" it was a spectical of dirt. My dogs doghouse is cleaner than this place and it is in need of many repairs. It was a nice touch when the trash man came thru blarring music from phone in his pocket, he sure was a jamming as he bagged the trash! Now I don't know who these other folks are that wrote good reviews on this place, they may work there or they get a kick back lord knows. Our team played a tourney this weekend. The first time I went to this facility 4-5 years ago I was blown away and had a great time. The second time was the same. The third time was ok and we enjoyed ourselves. This weekend was a nightmare. The concession staff was terrible. The fields look like a patchwork quilt. They are not maintaining the backstops "on every field". I have been to converted empty lots that were better. Our them needed ice and I had a member of your staff tell me a bold face lie that they were out of ice when a manager forced him to get it from the outside storage, How many heat injuries did they have this weekend? I know of one child sent to the ER. The food and beverage manager was metering out ice the second day and apologizing for the lies told the day before. This is a safety issue for me. I have a 13 year old son and I don't want him retarded by the time he is 15 because he suffered heat strokes at this facility. I spent close to 1000.00 between hotels, resturant, and GLD's facility. I have already told our coach we wont be back. They will not do this to my family again. Fix the back stops. Fire the concession staff, power wash the stadiums, then spend a few bucks to cover the stadium seating because nobody and I mean nobody uses them. If someone wants to talk about cockroaches or the nasty tables in the concession area I can go on. Run down and they don't care. read more
