Went in on the Sunday of Memorial weekend, had my arms full of merchandise and waited patiently in line. When it was my turn, the female cashier (the only cashier) stepped away from the register and moved to the one next to her. Never said a word to me or even looked at me. I finally said "are you on this register now" where she replied "no, he is" and points to a guy at the opposite end of the counter working on something. He never looked up, she said and did NOTHING like a brain-dead mannequin. I stood there for a few minutes and just left my stuff on the counter and walked out! Made my purchases elsewhere. Went into Big Lots to purchase 2 recliners that we had our eye on. Two associates walked by us multiple times. When we asked for help he said it would be a minute and walked away. 20 minutes later I called the store to ask for assistance and she said one moment. 10 minutes later we left. Made our purchase that evening at Fred Meyer. I have to blame the management for allowing the 'It's not my department' attitude. read more

Never quite sure about this place.....it's just so strange. Such a strange assortment of items.....couches, curtains, bird seed, coffee, outdoor seating.....? On the upside....you can occasionally find good deals in here. Couple hints when you go in: 1. Know your prices....some things aren't as cheap as they seem. 2. Know your measurements.....some things like curtains seem like a good deal and then when you measure them they are a bit odd. I tend to buy some odd things regularly in here. I went in to check out a large patio umbrella I have kind of wanted to use for over our hot tub. Why not get it when it's 20% off? Well they didn't have it in stock. The sales clerk did check & let me know another one if there store had more of them in stock. He was very helpful. Just one more day to talk myself out of getting it because we've done without it so far. BUT I end up buying much more items , some I needed , a lot I just felt good about buying. Typical big lots. Cluttered and poorly organized, no service on the floor but dirt cheap prices. I usually only c9me here for decently priced housewares. Slightly better selection than dollar tree. Love coming here for photo frames, kitchen items etc. read more

Really wish there was a zero star option! I bought $1,500 in furniture(shitty experience with clueless employed and an even worse management team!) and when it came time to be delivered they couldn't find one of the items they sold to me. They practically forced me to buy the floor model recliner with no discount or apology because they didn't have a new one in stock! After spending $1,500! Really? I read a ton of reviews about how terrible the employees are at big lots and still decided to shop, now I know to trust my instincts. The managers at this location are knowledge-less and lazy. This company does not care about pleasing their customers. It's a shame, I have seen numerous bad reviews and the company never even reaches out to make it right. DO NOT SHOP AT BIG LOTS! read more

I must be a glutton for punishment. Every time we've shopped at this store, there has been a problem. Yet, for some reason, we keep going back. Well, no more! We purchased an entire bedroom set from them recently. Spent $2100. It was a nightmare! They couldn't find items that were supposed to be in their inventory, what they could find was damaged...they pieced our furniture set together from three different stores due to damaged pieces and disorganized inventory records and then still delivered damaged items. After all was said and done, we rationalized the unnecessary and stressful transaction because we liked our bedroom set and got a good deal. We've been back three or four times since, for little things...and have regretted it each time. Tonight was the last straw. They baited us in a couple days ago with a $50 rewards certificate. We purchased $72 worth of goods, spending $22 after the coupon. Tonight, we attempted to return approx $27 worth of those items, only expecting $22 back, which was the amount above the $50 reward certificate. Instead of giving us our money back, they were only going to refund us $9.50 because of how their computer divided up the $50 certificate. It didn't matter how many times or ways I explained to them how refunding me any less than $22 was unacceptable, they weren't hearing it, nor did they care. My intention when I left the store was to bring back everything I had purchased in that transaction, however, I decided that writing this review was a better use of my time than driving back across town twice to put myself through further irritation. You get what you pay for, I guess...Big Lots is officially off of my list of options when I need to make a purchase. The deals aren't worth the hassle and irritation, for me. read more

No employees anywhere, on a weekend in the middle of the day: I was finished shopping here so went to check out but no employees were in sight at the check stands so I walked around a bit to see if I could find someone, no one was around so I waited at the check out area for a while, then finally I decided to just leave since no one ever came to check me out. Big Lots in Gresham seems to be going through positive changes. The sales signs are still confusing but Their customer service is much better, the store seems brighter and cleaner and the employees seem happier. Recently I went in to make a purchase and a couple of items didn't ring on sale. When I questioned the cashier she called for a manager. Because I've been through this with them in the past I was expecting to get a run around. When the manager arrived the cashier explained the situation. He asked if I wouldn't mind waiting a while he checked the sign. He came right back with the sale sign and explained that the items I was purchasing weren't part of the sale. I instantly had flash backs of an horrible interaction a couple months ago with a female manager, I think her name was Tawnya. But before I could start my response the man said "However, I can see how this sign would be confusing so we're going to honor the sale" I was flabbergasted, what no argument or debate? I thanked him and told him that I was expecting to have to fight for the sale price and explained my horrible experience a few months back with a similar situation. He apologize for my poor experience and explained that they have all new upper management in this store and that while he couldn't speak to my prior experience that he could assure me that the new management team strives to make customer service a priority. He even thanked me for my business. I look forward to seeing the changes in this store. read more
