This location is no longer a Big Lots store, it is now a Black Friday Deals store. The concept of this store is basically that has returns from Amazon and other retailers. It's like an Indoor Flea Market with bins loaded within miscellaneous items. The bins are marked with $3 or $4 or $5 and so on. There is also a separate room with big ticket items such as furniture or camping supplies that are individually priced. Nice concept. read more

I thought this Big Lots was well organized and clean. They have household goods, tools, pet supplies, food, personal care products, toys, clothes, furniture and much more. Not everything is a deal, but there are lots of deals to be had. It was pretty empty on a Thursday night, which is nice since I can take my time looking at things without getting in people's way. There was only one cash register open, so even though it was pretty empty, there was a short wait to be checked out. The employees are friendly and helpful. I saw a shamwow mop for $5 and contemplated buying it. How bad can it be, right? I am not fully sold on the idea so I left it behind. This is a good place to pick up pet supplies like litter, litter scooper, cat toys and such. I found a cute placement for food/water bowls for $1! There are things here that you normally can't find at regular stores...like single serve Spam! How cool is that? read more

It's like a mini Walmart with better prices. Yea! Go figure. This Big Lots was crowded and just looked dirty. It's much smaller than the one in Oak Brook Terrace, but maybe it's because it looked over crowded with people and merchandise. Keep in mind that you're paying less than you would at other stores though....well for some items at least. Holy cheap heaven! They have a ton of closeouts from other stores here. Got a huge thing (120 load) of brand name laundry soap for around $6. They have medicine, toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc. Apparently my boyfriend runs races in his socks so he always needs new ones, get them here at $3.88 for a six pack! Certain things I have no problem paying full price for but for everything else Big Lots is a goldmine. read more

OK, first of all THIS STORE IS NOT CLEAN. It may have been when it took over from McFrugals' but it is not now, nor has it been in the last few years. If anyone thinks this place is clean, I am curious where they shop that to their standards this place is clean. I was just there Sunday - still dirty as ever. I go in when they have big sales on name brand paper towels or for cheap disposable razors for the BF when he asks. Their regular prices for the name brand paper towels is nto much cheaper than going to Target. I don't remember what this place was way back in the day when I was a kid. The strip mall has been here a LONG time and basically only the store fronts have gotten face-lifts. I can tell you every time I have been in there I have seen at least 1 mouse scurrying under shelving. I wored in discount retail in my teen years, so I am used to the occassionaly mouse - but just saying... clean? NOPE! The staff always seems half asleep and when I have asked if they carry something whoever I ask never seems to know. There are bargains to be found if you look. read more

This Big Lots is smack in the middle of a slightly odd shopping center about two blocks from home. Its convenience is its biggest draw. But if I'm looking for quality, I go to Target across the street. If I'm looking for cheap, I go the Dollar General two doors down. So what's Big Lots for? The most random and often useless crap you can think of. The thing about Big Lots is you will rarely find the exact same thing two visits in a row. They get a shipment of discontinued laundry detergent, or an old design of shampoo bottle, or some weird flavor of potato chips that nobody bought, and sell it at often bargain prices (though not always -- they have to make money somewhere). This store is big and disorganized. The staff alternates between helpful ("if we had any water pitcher filters, they'd be over there, but we don't always have them") and a little annoying (two cashiers gossiping about a co-worker who'd quit when we were trying to pay). But every so often you find just what you didn't know you needed, or the inexpensive version of something you did. For instance, I got a shower curtain here for $3. All of the shower curtains at Target start around $15. And we did get a giant bottle of laundry detergent for about $4. Can't be any worse than "Sun," anyway. read more

I'll start off by saying, as a frugal young women I Love Biglots! This location is one of the better ones that I have visited. The store is pretty well organized, clean and decently stocked, they even have a nice amount of clearance hidden around the store. Biglots is like a treasure hunt, you never know what you're going to find. These are three things that are really enough to keep me interested in a store. To put this location over the top, the staff was super pleasant. Good customer service is one of the biggest things that turns me from a casual patron to a loyal customer. There was only one minor bump (potentially major for others, that's why I'm writing about it) . One friendly, albeit, over zealous young crew member had approached me and asked if I needed assistance then proceeded to launch into a sermon about Jesus entirely unprovoked as I had only said "No," then with a slight uncomfortable chuckle when he lingered a bit too long "do I look lost? *ha ha *" ... I'm not religious, but I'm also not sensitive about the subject. Unfortunately, not everyone will be so ok with it. Just be careful, customer service is like Thanksgiving dinner with the extended family. When dealing with the general public, best to shy away from those dreaded subjects; Politics, Religion, and lifestyle. Never know when you'll encounter crazy Uncle Phil with the opinions of a bulldog and the sensitivity of a school girl. I really only visit when they have coupons, because all of the locations are quite a bit of a drive from my place of residence, and after my last visit this location will definitely be the one I b-line to. Bonus points for being right next to Marcland one of my favorite thrift shops. Loves me some deals!!!! Oh, and just be careful if you use gps to get here, for some reason mine brought me to the residential area behind the strip mall. Happy hunting! read more

For me, Big Lots is good only for purchasing some shelf-stable packaged foods at ridiculously low prices, especially when they're running their 20% off sale. It can be exciting. For everything else they carry? No thanks. Mostly junk. There are hidden gems in their inventory from time to time, so it can be worth stopping in. read more

This is the holy grail of amazingly useless crap that I have to have! OK, so it's not all without purpose. You can get great prices on name brands. Some are better priced than others. For example, their Axe soaps are the same price as Target. But where else are you going to find 32 quarts worth of Cristal Light powder for $3? My friend and I came here to simply browse and I left with shampoos, conditioners, chocolate, kitchen supplies, greeting cards and presents for other people. This is a great store for discounted items & close outs! But as with any discount store you gotta know your prices & be a smart shopper! It can be easy to think that just because it's a discount store that your getting the best price-not always true! I ordered 2 outdoor lumbar pillows paying $10 extra for same day delivery. Big Lots charged $29.75 to my credit card and sent several emails claiming my merchandise was on the way. I never received anything so I checked my statement and found a refund for only $19.12 on it. Never was I informed that the pillows were out of stock and not coming. After sitting on hold for 23 minutes and 18 seconds, I was told by their customer service that I would get a refund as well as a callback by a supervisor. Neither occurred. I had to call once again, all to sit on hold for 55 minutes before I was finally transferred to a supervisor for my additional refund of $10.63. They refused to give me their email as well as direct phone number naturally. Moral of the story, Big Lots will only issue you a partial refund and put the burden on you to follow up for the rest of your money. It's worth it to buy from a better company rather than these deceitful people. read more

I'm not going to lie - I can be a bit of a brand snob. When I go shopping, I like to be in a tidy, spacious, fresh-smelling environment with friendly people and a great selection of tempting goodies. Big Lots doesn't fit that bill. It's cramped, with a hodgepodge of items and a very outdated interior. My mother the bargain shopper likes to drag me here from time to time when I visit her, and though I initially sulk when I set foot in here, I eventually come to terms with the fact that this place is filled with some awesome steals. My favorite area is the furniture section. Located in a separate room on the right side of the store, you can get great deals on lamps, desks and chairs in particular. And for those of you who are the princess types (ahem), they also have a selection of vanities and accompanying stools. I also like their home decor section - I've gotten some cute and colorful vases for under $10 each, which I'll gladly pay compared to the $200 ones at Bloomingdales Home Store. Lastly, I highly recommend checking out the kitchen utensils for great prices on basic items. A spatula costs $10 at JC Penney but $2 here. I'm a fan of Big Lots, but admittedly, I need to be prodded into shopping here. read more

This is one of my favorite stores! I go almost every week and always find new stuff. There is a ton of organic items and they almost always have something from the EnjoyLife brand for my allergy kids. They have the best, biggest bags of non gmo popcorn for only $1.90. Juices and organic lemonade for $1. They just added a cooler section. I have purchased 2 sectional sofas from here made in the USA! I have furniture in layaway right now and that is an easy process. Everyone has always been nice here and ask if I need any help. Great store that keeps getting better! read more

I went here looking for a chair, but I saw that they were having a sale on mattresses. I was actually looking for mattresses, but didn't expect to find one here. I saw it was on sale and I asked the guy how long the sale would be going on for. He told me that it would be ending Monday morning. It was Saturday when I was there so I said I will be back tomorrow with my van to buy that mattress. I came back Sunday morning right when they opened to get that mattress. The original salesmen wasn't there apparently just yet, but I got that departments manager apparently. I was about to pay and he said I had to pay 300 dollars more than what I was told and saw. He told me the sale ended Saturday night. I told him no your associate told me Monday morning it ended that's why I came now with a van instead of yesterday night coming back with the van. He fought with me for a half hour even after I explained which associate it was which he knew who it was after I told him. After fighting with it we had a stare down and he saw I was in the right and matched the price. He volunteered to tie it on my van and I thought OK he cant mess that up. Apparently when we were driving it went loose and thank god I noticed it slipping or it would have flown away. It is always a mess here and it always has that dirty feel to it. read more
