    It was $6. How?

Finding decent coffee on the coast is quite the challenge. Thank you to these guys for changing this! At their price point (Which was incredibly low by PORTLAND standards) they are working wonders. They have space to work (major win for me) or just spend time with you friends. How they've set up their space allows for multiple conversation places for all types of engagements. Their coffee is all roasted in house and delicious. The service was friendly and kind. This seemed to reflect the owner who was very thoughtful and remembered her repeat clients without any promoting. Tired of Dutch bros? Stop on by!

    BEST HOUSEMADE CHAI EVER!!! AMAZING!

BEST CHAI EVER... And it's housemade!!! Soy milk compliments it's spice perfectly!! Thick and creamy! Medium sweetness. Served in a giant mug if you ask for it here. Worth a trip out of the way for this. I get chai everywhere and I'm picky and this really is FAAAABULOUS!!! I'll be back every time I go to the coast!!! My friend got decaf espresso and really enjoyed it as well. ***Ok, STOP! I'm almost finished with this chai and I'm about to forsake all other chais. I'm about to put a mother-loving ring on this chai. I'm done calling every coffeehouse in a 20 mile vicinity to ask what type of boxed crap they have. You're the only chai for me, Big Mountain!!!

Café interior with those cool messenger bags, assorted coffee roasts to select from (R)

First visited Big Mountain Coffee House and Roastery two years ago since it's conveniently located next door to our favorite Thriftway in Depoe Bay. One of the few places that has literally a list of customized, inventive mochas. Dropped by earlier this afternoon and I was pleased that business hasn't changed much and love that intense roasted beans aroma upon entering. Nice selection of T shirts, coffee bags repurposed into messenger bags, and other cafe merchandise. It is also a reliable source to pick up the helpful regional milepost travel guide for the Oregon Coast. I had a mocha, but also bought a pound each of their roasts, Coastal Black Bear and Sasquatch. BTW - their beans are fair trade and organically sourced. I look forward to trying them back home along with some Stumptown and Cape Foulweather blends too. The café owner comes across as very knowledgeable about his roasting craft and clearly has a sustainable coastal business - open since 2003. He seems like a cool person to get to know if one was a local resident.

Absolutely lucky to live near by. I visit these lovely folks weekly and stock up on whole beans at home as well. My favorites are Sorcerers Dancing Lights and The Grizzly. Sometimes I even mix them. This is my exclusive coffee shop. My dog really enjoys our visits and always leaves with a treat.

Full, corrugated coffee cups eliminates the need for double cups or sleeves -- even on blistering hot americanos!

Owner operated and it shows! Traveling through town we needed some good Java and saw this place got great reviews. Ordered a soy latte and an americano, black, which were amazing. The beans are NOT over-roasted and burnt resulting in a rich, full-bodied, sweet and smooth espresso. Perhaps the BEST part of the experience is the cups! A full, corrugated paper cup virtually eliminates the need for a double cup or sleeve -- even on the piping hot americano -- and insulates the coffee long after many other cups would have begun to chill. Small splash sticks show added conscientiousness for the environment as well. A hand sanitation station upon entry, mandatory masks, distance markers and restricted occupancy all provide extra comfort during Covid and the owner was masked as well. All in all, a wonderful location, experience and mid-day pick-me-up along our trip through the PNW!

A big, empty, austere space, but great staff.

When I rolled in this place on a chilly, rainy Oregon morning, I was frankly disappointed as it lacked the cozy coffeehouse vibe I craved for a warmup. The space felt big and empty and lacked charm and character. I proceeded to order my mocha anyway, and did appreciate the many flavor options. staff was friendly and prompt. The drink itself was tasty, but certainly not rave worthy. If you're driving by and need a caffeine fix, then swing through the drive through.

This is a frequent stop of mine when visiting Tillamook County and I have never been disappointed…read more The Cafe has an excellent assortment of baked goods, or so it appears to the eye. I say this because I tried the almond danish on my first visit and it is so delicately delicious I have never found a need to venture beyond that taste treat. I often get breakfast and then bring the pastry (which is huge) with me to nibble on, and put a smile on my face, all day - & it stays fresh! They have a limited lunch and breakfast menu. However, I find it has significant enough variety that me and my guests have never had a problem finding something to enjoy. I have had breakfast there, never lunch. I find what I have eaten reliably tasty, but it does not rock. For the food I would put it in the low 4 category, pastry an absolute 5. Coffee blows away the chain coffee shops and I find it very tasty, not bitter. They do all the fancy drinks and they execute the one I always get - cappuccino - extremely well. My one bit of advice is to ask for the coffee in a mug if you are having it to stay because otherwise it will be served to you in a paper cup. I find paper cups cramp the froth into a small area and ALSO blocks your nose from getting a good whiff of that awesome coffee smell. Smelling is a huge part of taste - so do not forget the ask - there is no up charge for the real mug. Plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating with variety in the indoor, ranging from a very large, family style, round table in the middle of the room, to bars at the windows and tables throughout - with plenty of spacing. The outdoor seating is behind the roastery and consists of wooden picnic tables. This is complimented with an extremely unique and , obviously, cared for garden with a variety of flowers and evergreens. Finally, the service. One orders at the counter where my only experience has been one of patience, informative and courteous order takers. You then find a seat or you can wait for your order at the counter. The coffee is prepared immediately and, I have found, the food is prepared efficiently. I have nothing but very positive interactions with staff. Do note that they have a drive up window as well. Located directly across from the Tillamook Creamery: extremely convenient if accessing the Coast thru Tillamook. All in, I would rate Five Rivers about a 4.5 - Enjoy the experience!

I ordered the Pistachio Drift and the Fog Hugger (I think that was the name ) and both drinks were delicious. Great flavor and perfectly made. I also grabbed a small pastry . The sourdough Swedish cardamom bun and it paired perfectly with the coffee. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and amazing drinks. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're in Tillamook!

It's not like going to a bad bar or even restaurant where you still can eat a few hours later. Coffee has a small window and a maximum amount of intake. That being said, this morning we chose wisely. Not only did we use Yelp but we backed up our decision with a google search and that took us to Reddit. Equiano was a top suggestion on both sites. And we understand why. The service was 100% top notch. Helpful. Friendly and knowledgeable, not only about what they offered but about the regions best shops! The coffee itself was very expressive. The Camaroon was totally my style with an earthier tone and the Chai was delightful. The outdoor seating was so very comfortable with a unique sort of panache that I would love to have at my neighborhood coffeeshop. The raked gravel was a nice touch. And even though they didn't have indoor seating with the drizzly day, it was a highlight that I will be repeating in our future travels.
