I was excited to buy the small loaf of Honey Wheat bread. Unfortunately when we got home it taste dirty. It left an unpleasant aftertaste. Not what we were expecting for an $8.00 loaf of bread. I love Sailor Jack muffins and they're not very easy to find. Theirs was so strong with clove it made my mouth numb. The person who waited on us (long gray hair) was abrupt and surly. We were exploring the area south of Lincoln City, and thankfully this Baykery showed up in our search results. It's not really visible from the road, but is conveniently located in the Salishan shopping center. The display cases are full of things designed to make your decisions difficult - lots of classics - cake donuts, fritters, large cookies, even larger cookies, you name it. One thing I did not notice was prices being posted, but my wife and I were both pleasantly surprised with how reasonable the total came to for our haul. They had a pleasant looking seating area near the entry door, but I'm happy to suggest the parking lot of the Alder Island Trailhead just a mile or so north. They only had sourdough garlic but I just wanted regular sourdough. I was intrigued by the sweet offerings and got their Marionberry cream puff just because it looked and sounded so unique. Oh my gosh, this thing was soo good. There was a little bit of chocolate inside, which made it next level. I would come back just for that cream puff. It was such an experience. Yum! Depoe Baykery is a great stop to grab some donuts! We loved the maple Persian and the cinnamon sugar twist. We did wish there was a little more frosting as the donuts were bready and a little more frosting would have balanced that out. I love donuts. So much. And now I love this place. I don't know what special ingredients they put in these fluffy little sugary clouds but it's not like a typical donut. They're airy, not overly sweet, and decadent. Honestly, I ate 3 in one sitting and could've probably had more. Some donuts sit heavy but these little treasures don't. We grabbed 2 of the huge, filled pastries this weekend to share - blueberry/cream cheese and cherry/cream cheese. They were fluffy and soft with nice fruit flavor, yet not sickening sweet. We really couldn't decide which flavor we liked more. To me the taste was like a cross between a danish and a donut. The place is cute, tucked back into the little mall...the only business there open early that morning. They have some inside seating, and a decent selection of goodies on display. This bakery is awesome! We needed a place last year for our wedding to make an assortment of 100 doughnuts for our wedding day. We went in, tried a couple varieties, and the price was reasonable for the doughnuts. I picked them up at 10am and they were still tasty at 4pm when we served them. Staff was quick, friendly, and got all of the information necessary. I came and got out in 2 minutes. It is nestled at Salishan Resort and a bit hidden behind the gym in the small shopping complex. My wife and I swung by there again today and it is still awesome. There are couches and tables to sit and eat if you wouls like and the selection was pretty good. They also have cookies if you want that instead. I got the carmel apple cake donut and a standard chocolate. My wife got an apple fritter and a cherry cream cake donut. Very tasty. I love this place. They were friendly and helpful last year and just as quick and professional this year. Definitely worth swinging by if you are traveling between Lincoln City and Newport. read more

We stayed at the Salishan Resort and did not expect to find many places with good food, cocktails, or awesome bakery items. But then again, my boyfriend is very good at finding local eateries. He found the Depoe Baykery randomly, so we decided to stop in on the morning we checked out. My first impression was that the bakery was very simple and didn't have much in the way of decoration. However, they did have a variety of good looking bakery goods. The woman before us ordered 12 maple bars among other items so I was also inspired to try one. We weren't trying to order too much, but I couldn't resist trying a 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 maple bar because the maple frosting was white (not brown). My boyfriend ordered a Marion berry bear claw. After buying our donuts, we sat outside and ate them with some coffee. I was impressed with the maple bar because it tasted like real maple and was not overly sweet. The dough had a nice chewy texture as well. The bear claw was good because the Marion berry filling was not sugary and must have been house-made. Overall, I really liked the Depoe Baykery and I will definitely be ordering more maple bars next time. read more

What a great spot to grab a sweet treat on a Sunday morning! We were staying down the way and my kiddos are always up for a doughnut breakfast, so we went to trusty Yelp and found this place. It was crowded as most doughnuts spots are on a weekend morning, but the line moved quickly. The staff was patient and awesome about answering our questions (why do the same type of doughnuts have so many different names depending on where you are?). The doughnuts themselves were absolutely delicious. I had the apple fritter which was so very good. It wasn't greasy as some are, but rather had a lightly crispy outside with a soft, perfectly cinnamon-y inside. My husband had some oooey-gooey turtle doughnut that was out of this world. There's not much I love more than delicious baked goods in the AM! My husband and I woke up early on our first morning in Depoe Bay to ensure we'd have our choice of freshly made pastries. We arrived around 7:00 and there was already numerous cars parked out front. They're only allowing 3 people inside to comply with COVID-19 recommendations, much to my appreciation. What a huge selection! Donuts, cookies, muffins, and more! We chose 4 different pastries, which was a good idea because if we'd gotten more I would have gained 10 pounds in a day - a cream cheese blueberry turnover, chocolate drizzled blueberry fritter, maple glazed Bismark and a lavender muffin. Man, we're they awesome! My favorite was the muffin. It was very unique in flavor and paired delicious with my cup of jo'. The bismark was super stuffed with Bavarian cream! It was difficult to save two pastries for the next morning because every time I opened the fridge temptation almost got the best of me. Nothing was good and a couple of things were down right awful The mint chocolate muffin was a week old - so hard that it just crumbled. The blueberry wasn't much better but definitely not old. If you want pastries and bread, this is the place to go! The Asiago sourdough loaf is so light and delicious. We then got the fritters, round donuts with sprinkles and then some donut holes. The sprinkles were so fun as there were tons of them. The fritters were absolutely delicious and the donut holes were so light and perfectly sweet. Not one thing left your tummy feeling heavy. The gal working was extremely sweet, provided excellent customer service and while stocking the breads provided detailed information on the jalapeño rounds. Kind of an odd entrance to the place and we were met at the counter by a person that wasn't a friendly sort. We chose Marion berry bear claws along with a couple of cups of coffee. No latte choices here. Also, if you want a coffee refill, you'll need to pony up another dollar for that. Creamer is by the mini pod, not a container. The bear claws were very good and stuffed to the brim with berry filling. That said, there are plenty of other pastry shops along the coast to try, where you'll likely be met with a bit more friendliness and equally good pastries. read more

Because of you Yelpets, I arrived with high expectations. My fault not theirs. I'd like to go back and try the bread, so this is a review of donuts only. The cherry cream cheese turnover was amazing. It has a great ratio of fruit to cream cheese, and was worth the trip. Overall, the donuts were a bit dry. Not stale or burnt, but dry. There selection varies from marionberry everything (marionberry bearclaws, but no real bear claws) to peanut butter things galore (I love peanut butter, but how about almond paste in a more traditional bear claw? ) The cringiest might have been the apple turnover with peanuts inside (why?) I bought a dozen donuts for over $30 and wanted to drop off some to friends, so I asked if I could have 2 clear clam shell containers with my order. SHE CHARGED ME TWO DOLLARS for containers that cost them pennies. Three grown adults with sweet tooth's shared 6 donuts and left half behind half. They have a captive audience because it's in Salishan, which should've been my clue to drive on by. This is one of the few times that Yelp led me astray. The smell off bread would bring me back for a loaf if I'm ever there again, but I'll go elsewhere for donuts. read more

Still very good, but one can tell that the master baker is not making all of the doughnuts. They have changed in the last couple years after moving the shop location. I'm very picky about doughnuts.
