Christian was very helpful & got my car oil change done within 2 hours of my appointment!

Husband bought wheels and had wheel alignment for $700, then after a day, the tire sensor light warning lit up. Husband went back to Big O, they were charging $450 to fix the tire sensors and labor. They said we have to have original Camry parts. Everything was just suspicious. We asked Costco, they'll fix for $250. Won't go back, should have read the reviews about warning customers about them asking for more money. Something just wasn't right about the tire sensors which was fine before, then was not fine anymore a day after they serviced our tires. What are the odds? All 4 tire sensors are not working a day after they replaced the 4 tires? All the 4 tires' sensors are not working!!! Willing to pay $250 at Costco than giving them business again then who knows, what else they will charge? Or what else will be broken? read more

I have been going to this location for years but today maybe my last time. I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. The young lady came over to me to say that the brake fluid was dirty and should be changed and there was a bushing missing. Okay, things need to get done and I agreed. What she didn't mention was that the brake fluid takes an hour and the part needed to be delivered (not in stock). It took another hour and a half. I was upset because I feel she should have asked if I had the time to wait since I'd already been there for an hour. This is the second time I have had issues with this location. I'm not saying don't go there but maybe ask a few more questions if they mention extra work. read more

I brought my 2020 Nissan Murano SL AWD to ASAP Automotive in Fremont for a front shock replacement. At the time of payment, I was asked to provide my debit card before being shown the final invoice, which ended up being much higher than expected, with nearly $1,000 in labor charges. I formally requested clarification via email, asking for a breakdown of labor hours, rates, and parts used. Unfortunately, I did not receive a clear or transparent response. Due to the lack of communication, I filed a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). I'm currently waiting for the process to move forward, but so far, my experience has been disappointing. I took my tires here and I got them done the same Saturday with excellent prices and services, it's first come first serve basis. The people here are quite knowledgeable about tires and wheels, easy to work with and they're quite efficient of their work. I received an oil change which is what I needed and the reason I came here but left with a list of items they said needed to be done. Turns out they were trying to drum up business based on lies! I took my car to another shop in Fremont for them to put on two new tires before I headed out to Tahoe and they said nothing else needed to be done. I asked them about each item Big O said needed to be replaced or fixed and luckily the other shop was very honest and told me I didn't need to do any of it. I highly recommend Big O in Newark, to anybody who asks. I bought new tires for my explorer in January, I bought the same tires I had on it since they lasted me a long time. Jason was a huge help and his team looked at my car and determined I didn't need brakes like I thought I did. They were so honest and saved me a lot of money on new brakes too. Fast forward to today, I got a flat tire yesterday and called and was able to get an appointment for today to get a new tire. Sharing my 1 time experience of going to Big O. Super short summary is - not the best! I felt my day was wasted when I could have come anytime, and the quote was a bit sketchy. I called ahead to make an appointment, Ashley told me I could come on down right then, wait time was less than 1 hour. I placed emphasis that it was not urgent and I could come in anytime in the next few days, but she reassured right then would be fine. By the way, Ashley was pleasant and helpful with estimates on the phone. Arrived about 3:15, did paperwork to get all 4 new tires and an alignment. It was a decent price for tires. Although, they told me they couldn't give me any sort of estimated price on an alignment until after they take a look at my van. Fair but made me a little uneasy. Waiting room was spacious with drinks and restroom provided. Saw my van unmoved for loong time... checked in around 430pm if i should come back tomorrow, they said my van would be "next' ok... At 530 pm with no word on my van or alignment estimate I checked in with someone at the desk, he said he would get back to me soon and he would be writing up my estimate. So why did Ashley tell me 3:15 was a good time to come in, when service didnt even begin till sometime after 430pm maybe 5pm ??? At 5:55 he gave me an estimate with major front end wheel issues and the quote was $2300! Whoa. He was good at explaining and not pushy - but I did decline to have the work done at the time, $2300 is a quote you have to think about for a minute. I paid my $600 for tires only and I have no problem with that. I took my van to my trusted mechanic who did confirm there were some issues, but his quote was 1000. He told me some of the things that Big O quoted made sense, but also some seemed totally unnecessary. BIG price difference. So if you want any mechanic work beyond basic services done at Big O, just be prepared to be critical and knowledgeable before signing off that quote. read more

I came for my free tire rotation and an oil change...left paying hundreds of dollars more. These guys are always looking to upsell you. Initially they said my front suspension needed to be replaced and when I hesitated he then offered to give discount to replace back...even though it didn't need to be replaced yet (what kind of favor is that..) When I brought up my regret about not going to a different mechanic to repair my suspension system, I got the beginning of a nice lecture before I cut him off. Do not come here!!! I picked up my car 20 minutes before closing so I didn't think to check my car or anything because everyone seemed to be gone anyways. I drove home which is only a 5min drive I open my trunk to grab my gym bag and i find all of these bugs inside my car!! How disgusting, I searched the whole car to see if I left food somewhere but there was nothing inside. I don't have kids and I drive by myself 90% of the week so my car is pretty spotless clean. I had my boyfriend call this location but from what it seems they do not care. I don't know if they left one of my car door open and some of these flies got inside or what but this is traumatizing. FWIW, 3 of the tires are in good condition and only one tire had a flat which i wanted to fix. The staff was rude and wouldn't help even fix the tire now so I could come back to get the tires replaced at later time. The owner was adamant that he would not even touch the tires until we agree to change all 4 tires. Rude staff, and worst customer service. They said I was going to need to pay $1500 in extra expenses to fix a supposed cracked knuckle, bent upper control arm, and other "issues" and made me replace a tire that I did not need to. I thought it was fishy so I brought it to another mechanic and they told me that my car was completely fine and that it just needed to be raised. Originally, I only came because I got a flat tire and needed to replace two, but ended up replacing three and was lied to straight to my face about my car. They caused me so much stress and anxiety for a week and wasted my time and energy. If I could give them negative stars, I really would. Would not recommend ANYBODY to come here. EVER. I've been coming in to Big O tires for a few years now and I'm going to say that their service is great. The representatives up front are friendly and patient. I personally don't like to be "THAT" customer so I make sure I've got simple tasks to request of them. When they give you a rough time of when jobs will be complete, they are pretty spot on with them. It also really helps that there are plenty of things to eat around the area so waiting around isn't such a chore. I highly recommend Big O tires especially for your basic car needs. The only reason I would recommend this place is it's technicians. I called in asking for price on tire installation and walk-ins. 20$ per tire no tax. Great. While getting written up, I was asked if I was quoted. I said yes over the phone 20$ per tire. The service desk lady failed to mention she had added a recommended service not required for the TPMS. To my knowledge I had no idea there was going to be such a charge. The charge was reversed and I did not pay for it. But while mentioning it, the other service desk worker had tried to blame me stating you signed for it. I get that, contract is binding. But word is also bond. It was never mentioned. At all. Wanted to share my experience with this place for awhile. Been going here for years because this chain does not hassle you like America's tire. I brought my truck here to get 4 tires installed. Prior, I did have a car that had rim damage from this location so I asked them to be careful. To make a long story short, they could not do the job. They did mount 1 tire but damaged the rim in the process. They damaged a 2nd rim trying to mount it. They literally took an entire day to do this. I was very upset because not only could they not do a job that they do everyday but they admin damaged not 1 but 2 rims. But as bad as this was the main issue that really bothered me was how the owner (Jason) handled the situation. When he spoke to me clearly upset and frustrated with the job I presented to him, he was literally yelling at me and my wife about how hard it was to mount and how hard he and his team worked...I guess he forgot he signed up to install tries for a living. My wife yelled back at him and he said "why you coming hot at me lady". Not what you'd say to long term customers that you just screwed over. This guy clearly did not understand the situation witch completely blew over his head. To make it worse all his coworkers all stopped and literally watched the scenario like a soap opera and after giving us dirty looks. One of the last thing Jason said to me was "good luck in trying to find a place that can mount them" words of encouragement. Ended up getting them mounted the next day at a mom-n-pop wheel spot in San Jose. Gave him 2 stars because he did end up purchasing 2 rims for me but when I picked them up this 40 year old man gave me the silent treatment like a little kid. Maybe he saw the tries mounted on my truck. So warning, if you don't care about your rims and just want tires mounted this place is for you but if you have aftermarket/up graded rims steer clear of this place. *On a side note, Christian (the employee who works the from) is and has always been a very polite guy he gets easily 5/5 read more

I noticed I had a slow leak in my rear driver side tire on 2/26 so I took my car into Big O in Newark the next day. I was told that since I had the tire protection plan it should be covered. I was then called an hour later and told that I needed all 4 new tires. I thought that to be odd since I had just purchased 4 new tires from the same store one year prior. Note I am a single woman who knows nothing about tires, my ex used to handle all that. When I expressed my shock that I needed a brand new set I was told "Well, you HAVE driven 16k miles". She said they had a buy 3, get 1 free deal going on and gave me an estimate for the new set. Again, not knowing much about tires I didn't think much of it but said that I would call her back. I proceeded to call my dad who was confused on why I needed new tires after only 16k miles and that my tires should still be under warranty so therefore my new set I was being quoted should be pro-rated. He also told me that tires should last around 30-40k miles. I then drove down to the Big O and asked if my current tires were still under warranty (which of course they were) and then said I didn't understand why these tires went bad so quickly - they could not give me an answer on that. Then they gave me a quote on 4 new pro-rated tires and after mounting and everything it was going to cost me around $400 I asked why wasn't one tire free since I had the tire protection plan and had I not been sold bad quality tires a year ago I would have been able to fix the damaged one for free. To me, this just would have been good customer service. But apparently this is not the case at this location. I had no choice but to go ahead with the quote they had given me. THEN, an hour later I was told I needed an alignment which would cost me an additional $120. Now I was pissed. I came into the store with the understanding that my tire would be fixed for free and am now being told that the quote with everything was $520. I then let the manager know that I was not happy about all this. I felt taken advantage of by being a woman who knew nothing about tires. Why wasn't I told from the get-go that my tires were under warranty and that most tires are meant to go for 30-40k miles?! Instead I was made to believe that 16k miles was alot and tried to sell me a new set of tires WITHOUT the pro-rated price. Also, I felt that since I had paid for the tire protection plan that 4th tire should have been free. The manager did end up taking some $ off and I ended up paying $480 out the door but I had to raise a stink to get that $40 discount. When I asked if they could waive the mounting fee to balance the alignment I was told "well now you're making money out of my workers mouths". Um, I'm sorry aren't they paid hourly and getting paid regardless? What about the money that is being taken out of MY mouth, the customer?! Especially since it was their screw up by putting the wrong tires on my car the year before. I have been buying tires at this location for more than 20 years and will never be back. You lost a lifelong customer in me - I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on and have logged a complaint with the corporate office. read more
