My factory tires were almost completely bald and I did not want to waste my morning finding transportation to and from Discount Tires, so I decided to give Big O Tires a try. The gentleman helping me was straightforward and very honest about what my car needed, as well as services I didn't need yet. My total was around $600 and included four new tires, a front-end alignment, and oil change with an inspection. Service was pretty fast and the employees were very helpful! Never go there. My first experience with my air conditioning system not working. A big, fast-talking, disrespectful guy at the front desk explained that the cost for a refrigerant charge was $300 and the diagnostics were free. After waiting 3 hours until closing time, they told me the air compressor was broken and charged me 50% of the diagnostic cost ($150). That's ridiculous. read more

I came in for a nail in my front tire and to have my rear brakes done. The guy I dealt with, I didn't catch his name, unfortunately. But he was really nice and didn't talk to me like I'm an idiot just because I'm a girl. He didn't try to upsell anything unnecessary. In fact, he told me I needed 2 tires and I ended up buying 3 based on my own decision. This was my second time coming here in the last few years. I had a great experience last time, in 2022, when I got my front brakes done. It can be difficult to be a woman and get your car worked on. You get talked down to a lot. Shout out to John! My family was traveling from San Francisco and we were leaving on a Sunday morning and woke up to a tire that was leaking air and there was no way of driving back to San Francisco from San Diego. My first choice was going to Costco for a new set of tires but they didn't have the tires in stock for a Toyota Prius.... It's one of the most common cars on the road and Costco said it would need a "special order" for the tires which would take over 3 days to arrive. Complete BS.... I called around a few tire shops with little hope, after calling 2 shops, John at big o tires saved the day and got me back on the road in a few hours with my flat tire issue. I removed the wheel with the complete flat tire at costco and with my brothers car, I drove it back to big o tires and had his team replace that tire then I drove it back to costco and installed the wheel. Then I took the prius back to the shop and had their team replace the other 3 tires and was able to get back home. read more

My 'low tire pressure' light came on so I stopped by hoping that they could take a quick look at my tires. The friendly employee at the front told me to bring my car around and within a few minutes one of the service representatives (I think his name was Angel - He was great) was checking my tires and filling them up. Luckily there was no nail or serious issue so all we had to do was refill them to their optimal pressure level. They did this all with no charge which I really appreciate and definitely makes me more likely to come back here in the future when I actually do need a more serious service. About 1 hour after dropping my car off, I received a call stating there was oil all over the bottom of my car. Explained that this would've needed to happen in the 2 miles from discount to them and that I would call my mechanic. Less than 2 minutes later they say they were looking at the wrong car but somehow "I still see a leak in your car too" .... And the note was still on my receipt. I've been coming here for year and started bringing my wife's vehicle. They would rather be dishonest and have a return customer than just doing the right thing and keep my continued business. Times are tough for everyone and I'm sure they need the business, but this is horrible service and clearly dishonest because of the fact that no oil is leaking, they stated they were looking at the wrong car, but then they kept the note stating exactly what they told me on the receipt.... Update: Took the vehicle back and Jesus and Benito were able to assist and the alignment was off! They were able to realign it and now it's driving better! I'm disappointed with Big O Tires. It's been my go too for all my vehicles and have been to the locations in New Mexico and Texas. I came in because I had a nail in my tire and needed a patch for it. However, they told me that I needed to replace the tie-rods and also an alignment. So I had it replaced at $372 with parts and labor and waited 5hours for the vehicle to be ready. When I drove off the vehicle felt fine no issues. It wasn't until the evening when I left to go do errands that I noticed the steering wheel was crooked driving and driving towards the left and also feeling very heavy. I'm really frustrated because I spent half my work day at this point and nothing was really fixed. I didn't have an issue before I arrived at Big O Tires and I find it weird that now I have an issue now? I hope I'm not being scammed and this place just causing issues so I can come back. I don't know if they just hurried up so they can go to lunch or what the deal was. I need someone from the corporate office to contact me please! read more

I took my car in for what I thought was a flat tire. Turns out it was just some duct tape that my car had ran over that was making a ton of noice and concerning me greatly. Jesus was able to get me sorted on a Sunday. I had a situation where I was not able to pick up my car before they closed on Sunday and on Monday he was kind enough to waive the fee after pleading with him. Excellent customer care and service. Super friendly, and very welcome! I came here on a whim, after one of my tires was flat. It was super busy, but the guy running the counter, as sus, was very quick, attentive to every single person, and working a fast second. They were definitely busy on a Saturday afternoon, but he definitely try to see if he could fix the issue right away. One of his guys tried to put air in all my tires and confirmed a nail. He offered to fix it but it would be a couple hours. Within two hours, he called and I came right away. He showed me the nail, told me they were able to patch and said I was all good. I tried to give him payment but he declined. I was caught off guard but he reassured me I was set. It was an absolute kind gesture and one I won't forget. Through and through, they really took care of me even at their busiest. Avoid Big O Tires on Garnet Ave - Terrible Customer Service & Disrespectful Staff I had one of the worst experiences at Big O Tires (1106 Garnet Ave, San Diego, CA 92109) and would strongly advise against going there. I originally scheduled an appointment for a simple oil change, though I had mentioned online that I was interested in tires. Immediately after booking, I received a phone call that was entirely focused on selling me tires, rather than confirming my oil change. When I arrived, the rep was only interested in selling me four tires, without even inspecting my car or asking about my preferences. I had to insist that I only needed two tires since my rear tires were recently replaced. Even then, I had to ask them to actually inspect my car before discussing brands, pricing, and services. Despite reminding them that my main priority was an oil change, the sales push for tires continued. After the inspection, I finally agreed to replace my two front tires and get an alignment. Unprofessional Staff & Disrespectful Behavior While waiting, I witnessed multiple inappropriate interactions among the staff, including: Badmouthing other customers (which made me wonder what they were saying about me). Making inappropriate jokes in front of customers. A filthy bathroom and a messy counter space behind the register. When my car was supposedly ready, the staff clearly lacked communication. One employee told me my car was finished, but as I walked to it, another employee rudely pushed past me without a word, sat in my driver's seat, and continued trying to reset a warning light. There was no explanation, just staff arguing with each other. Violation of My Privacy When I got into my car, I immediately noticed that my glove compartment had been gone through, with its contents carelessly left on the floor. Later, I realized they had specifically taken out my owner's manual, likely to figure out how to reset something. However, they did this without asking for permission or returning my items to their place. Blatant Disrespect & Dismissive Treatment Throughout my visit, I felt like I was being talked down to--as if I had no knowledge about my car. The pushy sales tactics and lack of regard for my concerns made it clear they were trying to upsell services I didn't need. Once they finished working on my vehicle, there was no walkthrough or service review. Instead, I was rushed out the door because they were closing. It was evident I was seen as an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. This Is NOT What a National Brand Should Be This location operates more like a small pop-up shop than a trusted national brand. Big O Tires should either revoke their locally owned status or hold them accountable for better service standards. The way this business is being run is completely unacceptable for a company with a national reputation. Final Verdict: NEVER Going Back I will not be recommending this store to anyone--both personally and through my social media networks. I went this past Saturday morning to get a routine oil change. I know how much this service usually costs... I have taken my car before and it's been $90. When I was quoted Saturday the guy told me it would be $231.... When I asked why such an increase he said, "it went up." Like??? I understand inflation but 150%? I asked again because that seemed unreasonable and the guy looked at me like I was stupid and told me "it's because you drive a European car" when it's the same car I have brought in previously. I felt like I had no option but to pay it. After receiving the print out receipt I compared it to my last oil change receipt (same shop, same car, same service!!!) and they charged me $90 for labor this time vs. $12 last time.
