I needed new brakes. I was pleased to find that I only needed the front brakes after a previous visit said I needed all brakes replaced. Chrissy had the technician recheck the brakes as she thought another opinion woukd be a good idea. This Big O really needs to have its parking lot repaired. There is a huge and deep pothole in the center of the lot. Also, there several large and deep potholes in the pavement at the entrance from the road. It's very difficult to exit or enter without encountering one of these potholes to avoid damage to cars or tires or causing an accident. Said I needed rear brakes when it's not needed. New high performance brakes less than 4 months old. Also recommended radiator flush. Said it was dark but dark on the test strips you use is in good range. "Miscommunication" would have gladly charged me to flush it. I don't need to call the store. I took my truck in on Saturday 7/11/26 with an appointment time for 10am. They did not even pull my truck into the bay until 11:23am. I overheard employees talking/complaining about my truck as it is a dually and requires a dismount and remount to rotate and balance the tires. I know it is a lot more work than a normal 4-wheel vehicle. However, I purchased these tires at this location with the free rotate and balance included. I told the employees if they couldn't do it to tell me and I would gladly take it somewhere else. They reassured me they could do it. They done it with one floor jack and jackstands. I got home and realized they gouged both outside back rims with the tire changing tool. I called back up to the store the manager Christina Thomas would NOT get on the phone with me. The other young guy working the desk asked me to bring the truck back up so they could see it. I walked into the office and waited patiently for Ms. Thomas to finish with the customer she was dealing with at that moment. When she finally did she did not address me did not look at me nothing. Told the other guy to "go get Wes and look at this lady's truck and take pictures for her." So I walked outside Wes and 3-4 other employees came out to look at the damage and take photos, While Ms. Thomas stood in the shop smoking her cigarette and flicking her butts out into the parking lot. Wes was professional as was all the guys that looked at it. I understand he was not the person to deal with customer complaints. The manager would not come out and talk to me or my husband during the whole ordeal. So, I politely let Wes know that his manager is not a manager at all. That we have been coming to this particular location for decades and this appointment was complete garbage from the very beginning. They damaged my 2024 F-350 dually truck rims and that i expect for Big O to make it absolutely right. He agreed and assured me that they would. They did an awesome job fixing my wife's car. Needed new breaks and rotters. Also let me know that two of the tires had worn down because of the issue with the breaks. So I went ahead and purchased the tires as well. They were very helpful and courteous with me. Let me know exactly what was going to happen and even worked with me to find out what I should get fixed right away. Always super helpful. I was here last month as well to have my mom's tires looked at and they were able to get her in on the same day to get 4 new tires on her car. They even aligned the tires with the install. Yes it was extra but they let me know what can happen if you don't do an alignment. So I thought it would be best to get that with her new tires. I took my car in for a simple tire rotation at my scheduled appointment time. I was there for 3 hours!! Due to this excessive delay, Robynne. offered me a free oil change for my truck. 6 months later I call and ask for Robynne so I can cash-in on the free oil change and she no longer works there. I explained my situation to Joe and he said he would contact the owner for permission. I left Joe my name and number for a callback. Three days later I still had not heard from Joe so I called him back. It turns out that Joe no longer worked there as of just a few days prior. I then reexplain my situation to another employee (John?) who gives me the same line about needing to contact the owner. Once again, I leave my name and number, and after a few days, I called him back with still no answer on whether they would honor the free oil change. It has been over a week now and I am still waiting on a phone call lol. I decided to take my business to Ken Towery down the street even if it means having to pay for my own tire rotation since purchasing tires at Big O came with a free tire rotation. I worked at the Shelbyville Big O for three years and seven months. I worked under Ray Collins and me and Ray put out high quality, but after they switched owners. This place has went downhill. I've heard a lot of bad things about this place. I don't recommend this placed to anybody. The last time I was here after the change, I was getting a alignment done because of the mechanic that was there, management was extremely rude to me, and the tire workers took almost an hour and a half on one vehicle because they were goofing off that was a oil change rotate when I could get Five oil change rotates out in an hour by myself read more

I used to use this Big O Tire as my go to for tires and general maintenance when I worked close by. I was back in the area so stopped in today (3/29/2023) to see if they could squeeze me in for a quick oil change and tire rotation - they did. My car (2010 Kia) also had a low tire pressure warning. While waiting in the lobby I noticed that each person waiting was told their cars had "other issues" that needed attention. I was told that my car needed a new CV Axle and new shocks/struts all the way around, to the tune of $2600 with labor. I declined these "repairs" as I have a very good mechanic who recently worked on my car and he said nothing. I could see my car up on the rack but don't recall my tires being removed. Yet the paperwork said I received the free tire rotation. Maybe I missed it but when I drove away, the low tire pressure warning was still shining brightly. Big O TIRES was conscientious enough to find major issues with my car but not enough to check the tire pressure? I will not be bringing my car back here! I should note that I did not recognize any of the employees as being there when I used this location on a regular basis. read more

Scheduled an appointment for 8 AM Thursday 7/7. Left the car before shop opened. Called @830 to confirm vehicle was there and restate that front bearing needed replacement. No contact until I called at 3 PM. Could not find the ticket and was put on hold for 10 minutes. When associate returned, restated the issue to me and it was completely wrong. The ticket said noise in the back and only above 40 mph. I said it was the front and always made the noise, which got louder at faster speeds. They said it needed a front bearing, which is why I left it there. They would not be able to fix it that day, and would give me an estimate when I returned to get the vehicle. I picked up the car at 4:45 and they charged a diagnostic fee of $60 when I already knew the problem. They did not have an estimate ready. The check-out girl asked a guy walking by and he said "probably $780". She said that was for two, and half that if I only did one. Took another 10 minutes to find my key. I'll not be returning. Too much work and too expensive when nothing was done. read more

Big O tires truly treats you like you are their family. I have never had any company treat me so good like they did. Being new to the area and not knowing where to go I first stop down the road. After waiting for the other place to call me back which was almost 5 hours later I called and spoke to Raymond at Big O. He drove to my work took a picture of my rim which was broken and had me a price within 15 minutes. He not only went out of his way he quoted me 100 dollars less than the place down the road. When I explained that I was scared to drive because my brakes were so bad, they made time for me even though it meant they were going to be closing late. My daughter's 11 year old Mercury Sable overheated yesterday on I-64 returning to Louisville from my house. She pulled off at Shelbyville and called me in Lexington. I found this Big O Tires store on the Internet and called them..Jim answered. He heard the problem and gave me a tow company number and said he could/would repair the car the next morning. They opened at 8am. I called him at 8:30 and he told me what the problem was, a cost breakdown (parts/labor) and a solid total repair cost. They called me up before 3pm and said the car was ready to be picked up!!! They had also checked out all of the coolant system for other problems and found none. Jim told me that I was eligible for a military discount (from our 1st conversation) without me asking about it!! Without asking, he had also saved and showed me the broken part and where the new part was located on the car. I had taken my car to good year a few days before and they assured me there was nothing in my tire and I just needed a new one.
