$150 tow (about 5 miles) $168.80 "diagnosis" I told them the starter was out. $52.25 "ro fees" shop supplies. So they were $371.05 into me before they touched my car. $391.43 for a starter and two hours labor $165.80. The car is a "16" Hyundai Santa Fe. Total of $967.72 for a short tow and a starter replaced. Just seems a bit much. They also wanted to do a brake job, no calipers for $1100. I passed. I highly recommend that you don't have your car towed here. You will pay basically double. read more

I do most of my own work on my vehicles but I came across an issue I had never seen before and didn't have time to figure it out. I took my truck up and dropped it off for the guys at Simpsonville Automotive to take care of. They found the issue and fixed it without any trouble. Also looked the truck over and gave me a report of what else it needs and some suggestions for maintenance that I may want to do. Good communication and fair prices. Took my truck in for a problem with the heater. The first sign things were not good was the email I received trying to get me to approve over $7,000 worth of work that included such important thing as underpowered jet on windshield washer. When I called I was told that was a free inspection that is done for everyone. I wonder how many people approve a bunch of unneeded work without looking closely. The work that I brought the truck in for was one of the items listed on the free inspection. I was told that this particular item was so expensive because the entire dash needed to be taken out and then put back. I get that. It is a time consuming job to actually do that. I was told that the price quoted was on the high side and one piece may not be needed in which case it would be cheaper. I OKed this and an oil change. When picking up the vehicle I was charged over $200 more than was agreed upon. When I became upset, Woody explained to me that there was a charge for diagnosis of the problem that was listed on the free inspection (not so free after all). When I questioned the additional service fee of $74 I was directed to read the letter size paper on the wall directly behind the customer when standing at the counter that mentioned this fee. At one point Woody asked if I would like to hear the recorded conversation of me approving all this. When I said yes I would it was not mentioned anymore. Either they are recording customer calls without their knowledge and he figured if I wanted to hear it my point rather than his would be proven, or the recording was a lie. Either way not good. I had to have my vehicle so I bent over and paid. When I got in my truck I noticed that the business cards and change on my dash where in the same place as when I dropped it off. Can't imagine removing and reinstalling a dash and not even disturbing the dust on it read more

My car broke down on our way to the Smoky Mountain. The engine was overheating and the coolant was leaking. After discussed it with Woody, the owner of the shop, I decided to leave the car at Simpsonville Automotive and get a rental car for the rest of our vacation. But because it was during the holiday season, and I am under 25, so there were simply no car for me to rent. Woody was extremely helpful, he called several car rental centers and eventually found an enterprise about 10 miles away that has some rentals available. That, totally saved our vacation. We made it to our cabin before the office close that day. We stayed at the Smoky for 4 days, and returned yesterday to pick up my car. Though Woody personally guaranteed that they will be open on Memorial Day and my car will be god to go when we get there, but I have to say, I had my doubts. Fortunately, Woody is a man of his own words. Not only my car was already parked in the lot when we arrived, but it cost me a lot less than what I expected. I am not a KY residence, I live in Indiana. If it were for the broke down of my car, I would probably never visit Simpsonville Automotive. The whole experience at Simpsonville Automotive was truly great. A lot of shop can deliver good quality work, but only a handful can do so while making you feel welcomed and at home. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who want to not only find a shop for better work at more reasonable price, but a shop which you can trust, a owner you can rely on. Professional and great mechanics on staff. Woody went out of his way when I ran into car problems on a recent trip. He drove me to a nearby hotel and chose it because he knew there was a nearby restaurant for meals. It was close to the end of a business day and he stayed behind to talk to me when I "drove" my car into his shop. He had a mechanic work on it all day the next day and got me back on the road by the 4:00 pm that day. He made arrangements to have a local mechanic look at my car at my destination after we both realized that there might be an additional issue that needs further inspection. Not wanting to have another set of eyes look into my car, I made arrangements to have him look at it again on my return trip. That did the trick! I would recommend his place to anyone needing car repair. He is a trusted soul in Simpsonville and will only suggest repairs that he thinks you absolutely need. Broke down early Sunday morning when he was closed, Woody came and picked me up anyway to provide me and my family a loaner car to get to my daughters volleyball tournament. When my insurance couldn't find a tow truck in the area that morning, Woody called my insurance and gave them a local truck that would do the job, twice. He was able to diagnose the problem, and find on line it was warrantied. He sent me to the dealership to make sure the job was legit, the dealership let me know we had an honest mechanic who did the right thing by us.
