Huge fan of finding local BBQ joints across Florida but the brisket missed the mark today. It was cut in a way that wasn't pull-apart tender, with some fat not fully rendered(image below), leading to a tougher bite. The ribs were cut a little oddly but were tender. The burger and collards could've used more seasoning, and the bun came out soggy. On the plus side, the cheddar grits and fries were really solid and ended up being the highlight of the meal. It was the middle of the day and there was no one else dining but we were greeted and introduced to the ordering process. It reminded me of the honky tonk bars of my youth in Montana. While not our usual current choice, it was interesting. We ordered a selection of meats and sides. The wait was not long and the portion sizes were large! The spices didn't appeal to us but it was personal preference. The potato salad needed salt but the greens were fabulous. We took several to go boxes full of food home. It was a toss up. - chicken was bland - pulled pork was very good (moist and well seasoned) - brisket was ok. The meat was juicy and tender but it lacked the characteristic smoke flavour of the brisket and it was a tad bland - ribs were meh. It's like they prepared good food for the family picnics and were talked into giving a try to selling it! It is like going to eat at a family reunion. I've been three times and I'll be back!
