Big Rick's is basically a bar with three main dining rooms. The layout suggests it is well suited to huge crowds. The front room has a full bar with some stools. The menu is basic bar food, burgers and wings being their specialty. They have a wide variety of sauces for the wings, definitely worth investigating. Then there is "putine", short u, short I, and silent e (sounds like evil Vlad). It is french fries, hunks of cheese and gravy. This must be adolescent ambrosia! Everything was fresh and simply prepared. Big Rick is a basic small businessman. He takes care of business, chats with the customers and agonizes over the bills. There is an excellent tag team of waitresses, all nice and proficient. The one assigned to me was a transplant, from far away. She did not want to talk about how she ended up so far from home. Yesss... Okay, so I rarely review on a first go at a place, but we ordered enough for me to be confident. When we moved back to Maine (after being away 3 years) we had a very hard time finding certain foods. Poutine was one of them. Now, lots of restaurants claim to have poutine when in fact what they're serving is known in other states as disco fries. We've tried it everywhere only to be let down each time. Thank you, Big Rick's, for actually making poutine! The fries are fresh hand cut, the gravy a WELL FLAVORED brown (probably beef), and here's the kicker: cheese curds! Most places up here don't bother with the curds and use a flavorless gravy that needs added salt. This was perfect as is! I ordered the wings, something else they're known for, and let me tell you! I'm tickled pink they offer them naked. So many places don't, but it really makes a wing to get away from all the breading. I ordered them extra wet, and they delivered! They were swimming in a pool of sauce at least 1/4" deep (or just under a cm) for you across the river. Then they have me another huge cup of sauce! They included three whole cups of blue cheese too. The wings are also what I've been looking to find for so long! They're not fatty, not tiny, just perfect. My husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger. Now that was deceiving. It looks like a generic snack shop cheeseburger but I was in reality, really good. And he's picky about his burgers. Lastly, we ordered mozzarella sticks. Some places over fry them till they're hollow. Others under cook them. These were simple and good and very nostalgic of childhood. I'd happily go back and try their other foods! read more

We came here for dinner on a Sunday night visiting from Massachusetts. We started with the poutine, which was awesome! I had a hotdog and onion rings, and my wife had a chicken sandwich and they were both good. The service was fine and the ambience was OK. There were a lot of flies, but we don't hold that against them because it is summertime. If we're in that area again, we would eat there again. Thank you. read more

food is okay depending on what you order. taco tuesday is a complete joke. the meat is unseasoned and as bland as hamburger meat is when it's just cooked. what i find interesting about this place is the owner. he hangs out in his truck and takes up one of the only spots where you can park in front of the restaurant. he does this daily. it's almost as if he's watching his cameras in the restaurant as well as listening to the chatter from inside. yes. his cameras do have mics. he listens to his employees conversations and yours too. pretty strange for a po dunk restaurant. staff is really friendly and very attentive. read more

Saturday the 6th I ordered 6 of their spiciest boneless wings and 9 teriyaki, instead I got 9 spicy and 6 teriyaki. I could have looked passed that, but the wings were so hard and took forever to chew. The worst wings I've ever had, ANYWHERE. Spent 40 bucks, just to end up throwing it away and getting subway. Ok so I've been twice... once for just a quick bite and once for wing night... they have nice servers... it can be a bit on slow side but soooooo worth it .. wing flavors are great...I got the maple bourbon sweet and savory... total maple flavor and the sweetness was cut by the bourbon.... the hot galic had a slight bite to it... the heat of it was middle road but the garlic chunks on the wings was flavorful and not overpowering.... the wings were crisp before the sauce was applied and that is what makes them great. read more

Big Ricks is one of the best restaurants in Aroostook County hands down. If he could open restaurants in every major county town he would smoke the competition. I don't know him that well but I really like Rick, if you talk to him for even a few minutes you know he cares about this business, he cares about your experience, he wants everything to be perfect. The food is fantastic, I have yet to have a bad meal at Big Ricks. I should mention I live about 2 hours away (In Houlton) and I have driven for 2 hours just to eat there, that's how good I think Ricks is. The staff is on the ball and provides great service. Rick has painstakingly created every item on his menu, he has perfected how it's cooked and how it tastes if it's not good it's not served. If you are looking for great food experience Ricks is well worth the drive, I almost forgot the best part THE PRICE! I am always shocked when I get the bill, I usually pay more for lower quality food. The way Rick & Co look at it is you give people great food, at a great price and they will come back, and they are 100% right. I would rather drive 2 hours to eat at Ricks than go to someplace closer that is not that great. read more

Some of the best wings I've ever had! Huge and crispy. Even plain they were very tasty. Tried the County Forest Fire (way to hot for me!) A simple menu full of local favorites but the wings really do shine. Pick one of many sauces to get a generous helping of flavor. I combined wings and a burger for my dinner and it was a great combo. This is my first review after being on yelp for years, because it was great all around: we walked across the border for a feed of wings as most places in Edmunston were closed on a Sunday night. Evidently Canadian wings come from pigeons or chickadees, and the US ones must be from bald eagles or something because they were huge, with variety of sauces that were delicious, staff was very polite and attentive. While walking back to Canada I realized my wallet had fallen out of my pocket at Big Ricks - a phone call later and a frantic run back across the International bridge, Trina from the restaurant unexpectedly met us half-way with wallet in hand...awesome food and service, I'll go out of my way to go back here again!! read more

Very delicious and excellent service. Wings on Wednesday special is fabulous! Tuesday is military discount for active duty and retired personnel. DJ and live music on weekends give you a great place for dinner and music. Great addition to our little border town. Menu is awesome and still expanding.
