I enjoyed our time. Every kind of candy you can imagine. I was expecting more old timey candy, and they do have it, but much of the store is modern candy. Just about anything you can imagine: you can put it in bags and buy per the pound. They also have those tubes/straws you can fill with colored sugar and similar candies. Other options are popcorn with multiple flavors, like BBQ bacon and "Chicago style" (caramel corn and cheddar corn mixed together), and gelato, which was very good. Go in, all the associates crowd 1 side of store, no greeting. I see something in case I want, linger around & associates helping others. I walk around to opposite side where all associates are. Typical tourist trap..... extremely overprices candy. They do have a lot of different candies that you probably haven't seen in quite a while but almost $4-5 for a regular candy bar is stretching it. After buying candy from a nearby candy shop in the Island, we walked into Big Rock. Big Rock offered some similar products and fudge. I had just purchased candy, but I couldn't resist the pickle cotton candy and strawberry shortcake soda. The items were too weird to not try. The pickle cotton candy was strange, like sugar coated dill. Prices are reasonable and comparable to similar establishments. The pickle cotton candy was $5.99 and strawberry shortcake soda $4.49. Such a cute sweets shop!! they don't just have candy. There's a bunch of different flavored sodas, including wacky flavors like ranch. They have a bulk candy section where you can fill up a bag for $3.50 1/4 pound. There's fudge, pralines, truffles, candy apples, and other chocolates. The best part is the ice cream/gelato. Walking past this store is like heaven! The smells just lure you in. They have so many different types of chocolates, even moonshine chocolate logs. They have several flavors of popcorn, candied nuts, fudge, hand dipped gelato, pre-packaged candies & more! We went in twice while staying here at the Margaritaville Island Hotel. Everyone was very friendly but it wasn't as friendly as I was expecting the first time, but the second time was fabulous. Trevor was there the morning we were leaving and he helped me pick out six blocks of chocolate that I wanted and I really did appreciate it. It's very hard to do customer service to begin with, I know this from experience, but to do so early in the morning, with a smile, and genuine friendliness in your voice is just amazing. So many great options. Highly recommend trying the moonshine chocolates and even buying a few! They were all amazing. They had some unique sodas and lots of candy variety. One person in our party dropped their moonshine chocolate and an employee quickly replaced it. Even though it was completely our fault they made sure to help us out. After having a horrible experience at the Island Creamery who I would give zero stars (they are not allergy friendly, according to how they told me they make their ice cream and mix ingredients I am not sure how they pass health code. The staff and owner were incredibly rude and did not want any customer interaction which is the exact opposite of every other establishment we have visited on our trip to this beautiful south) the very polite young men at Sweet! Sent me to Big Rock Candy Kitchen where the staff was amazing, friendly, fun and very accommodating. I not only had the best gelato but the best customer experience. True Southern Charm. Through the years, I've tried a lot of fudge from different places in the Smokies, but none compare to the fudge at Big Rock Candy Kitchen! This place embarrasses Candy Kitchen and the Fudgery in flavor and texture for all fudge. They made a small error with my order and gave me a pound of fudge free to make amends. This place is absolutely disgusting! The family and I went in to enjoy their so called homemade fudge and they were to busy to even notice us. I finally managed to try a bite of their Tiger butter and you can taste the processed chemicals. My husband witnessed one of the employees picking up candy from the floor and putting it back into the container. I wouldnt let my worse enemy eat or buy anything from this place. read more
