Came here during Halloween. They were giving out free candy apples during Halloween!! That's crazy generous. We then shopped around the store and got lots of goodies to take home as souvenirs. The place for chocolate creations in Gatlinburg. This kitchen is packed with various candies and toys. A 360 display case that you can't miss is located in the middle of the store. It is full of different candies. We often cannot find chocolate covered raisin clusters anymore, but they had them here! The clusters are more chocolate than raisin, but still good. I also chose the dark chocolate peppermint patties. These had way more peppermint cream than chocolate and were delicious. It definitely makes a good after dinner mint. Prices are reasonable for a specialty chocolate shop and mostly measured by weight. The raisin clusters we purchased were $5.59 and one peppermint patty was $2.19. Several employees walked around the shop offering assistance. Overall, we had a good experience here and recommend this shop to others! read more

I spent a pretty good sum of money here on taffy, chocolate and candy. It's easy to kind of just say, "one of this, one of that" to everything that looks good and by the time you've walked around the entire central display case, you're $100 in. Haha. Whoops. I didn't exactly try anything yet, but from the looks of things, I don't think I'll be disappointed. The prices were fairly inexpensive and there were several boxes of things that I got to for gifts when I get home. The service was very friendly and the girl helping me was nice enough to explain to me how things were priced. Your purchases are packaged in a cute blue shopping bag and you're set to walk around gatlinberg a little more before diving into the chocolate you bought. They also have caramel and candy apples for like $4! So cheap! read more

The candy was pretty good. Service was great, the people were really kind, and the whole place feels very homey.

Beware--the entrance is a time-machine! The candyman stands silently next to his incessant machine as it churns out taffy. He is not over-welcoming, saying not a word, but there is a twinkle in his eye as he shuffles over to the freshly produced treat and proffers it to each viewer. Delicious. read more

If you hang around you will see fudge making, taffy making or the old school taffy wrapping machine. There's always people hanging around. I can't believe I forgot to review this place. I have been coming here for 40 years. I miss traditional candy stores. Candy making is a lost art. At Ole Smoky, you can watch the taffy being made at the front of the store. During our recent visit, we popped in and were delighted when the worker making the taffy gave us a hot fresh piece of wrapped taffy. I ate it and it brought back so many good memories. The taffy is so fresh and delicious here. I bought over a pound of the taffy and also some items from behind the counter. I am delighted that I am able to show my kids this place. These days, kids just walk down the candy aisle at the store and have no idea how it is made. read more

Along with all the other stores, this candy shop is, in my opinion, overpriced and not as special as the location suggests. In other words, exactly what a tourist shop is. Just make sure you have the right expectations and you'll be fine. For me, this was a place to pick up some candy for the kids telling them that while me and my wife were taking a quick couple days to ourselves, we still care enough to spend $$$ for a couple small bags of candy. It worked, too. They enjoyed their candy. We enjoyed our time away. Everyone is a winner. Was there anything that stood out? My kids liked the taffy. My husband must stop here EVERY TIME we are on the strip. He LOVES the moonshine peanut brittle. My kids love choosing the different candies. It's always clean. You can watch the machine pull taffy, and sometimes they hand out fresh taffy samples. It's very good! read more

I have been returning to this place since 1988. The place has a very old-world-style charm to it. You and your kids can watch them make taffy right there in the large store-front window. The staff is friendly and will talk about their products and seem interested to speak to you about your past experiences with their store. I spoke to one lady there, who had been working there since before I started coming all those years ago. Seems that they treat their employees well. The candy: this will keep you coming back. The taffy, the hand dipped chocolate covered cherries, the peppermint bark; it's all worth a stop in. They also have standard things like lollipops, rock candy and little treats for kids. They have plenty of low priced items, as well as some things (like the chocolate covered cherries) which are a bit more pricey, but definitely are of a higher quality and superior tastiness than your larger companies. One of the best little candy shops in downtown Gatlinburg. This placed is stocked with loads of homemade candies and confections. The best part? It's right in the middle of the strip, situated between the Pancake Pantry and lots of other great shops. There are a few other locations around the area, but this one is my favorite. This place is basically run by lots of sweet old grannies -- and who would know how to make tasty Southern treats better than them? Some of my favorites: the roman nougat with cherries; the black bears with caramel, pecans, and dark chocolate; the taffy; the cherry cordials; the pecan divinity; and chocolate covered raisins. I have been visiting this location since I was a little girl (like for the last 40 years). As a little girl, I'd stand with my grandma for what felt like forever as we watched them make taffy in the window, so it definitely is a sentimental favorite for me. Beyond the memories, though, this place offers anything that your sweet tooth could possibly be craving, and the people who work here are super friendly and happy to help. I got fudge and pralines from here, and I didn't think it was possible to really mess that up, but they were deplorable. The fudge had the consistency of rubber, and no taste to overcome this. It tastes sugar-free even when it's not. The pecans in the pralines were stale and the coating was less than desirable. I will not be wasting any more of my money here.
