We got the potato cheese bread, which had actual chunks of cheddar cheese throughout the bread. Great flavor, we both enjoyed it. We also got a few of the fresh baked oatmeal and oatmeal raisin cookies. Now, those were amazing. They really did taste like fresh baked cookies. All of the bread and cookies are baked fresh daily. So strange I never knew this place was here, but glad the word finally got around to me and the Mrs. We ordered an assortment of jams; strawberry, peach and blueberry flavors. And, they love to give out samples so don't be shy to ask to try what's made fresh on the day you visit. We love three seed and honey whole wheat! Their fruit breads are amazing and they even have cookies and muffins for our sweet tooth! The homemade granola is so addicting! I have never, ever had better granola! It so hard to resist and not over do it when munching on the nutritionally dense snack! The bakery has partnerships with some of the local grocery and nutrition stores (or at least they used to) so you don't have to make the trek to their one and only OKC location. This is a bakery with great bread. I also liked their jalapeño relish (not sure of the exact name). However, the employees are definitely not a happy crew. They remind me of the bakery scene in that movie Moonstruck with Cher where the workers were so unsatisfied with their own lives they took it out on the customer (Cher in the movie). For those glasses wearers, mine instantly fogged up...but that's how you know it's fresh baked. When you enter, there is a board on the left stating what they have and their special breads. I ended up buying a baguette and one of the specials which was Jewish rye. I mentioned how it was my first time and the employee helped explain what sets them apart and what they were known for, bread and their granola. There is a big selection of items to choose from. I have to say, my favorite part if that you can see them kneading and baking. I couldnt till I got home and decided to snack on the baguette, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle, perfect for the soft and creamy cheese I have waiting for me at home! read more

After 2 more days it was definitely a goner. Hardening, crumbling, tasteless. Threw out about a third. Clearly not fresh that day. The cookies were great! Sweet, moist, chewy, and stayed that way for days. They're big! Almost a full breakfast, for us. So they lasted. Since we had traveled across the city to try this bakery out, we decided we can get fresher baguettes, soda breads, rye and cookies closer to home. They have a fine reputation over a long history. Oh my. My, my, my. This was my first job: when I was 15 to 16 I worked here afternoons. I prepped the bulk order that went to a few local grocery stores and I swept. I also cleaned the butcher block (lemon and salt only- no chemicals going into the dough!). I would like to point out just how far ahead of the artisan bread curve I was: fifteen and really into challah! I went in here yesterday (while visiting the venerable Nichols Hills Pack & Ship). Just walking in and smelling the bread cooking took me back. Sadly, it did not take me back to my mid-nineties fighting weight- what's up with that? After all these years, the shop is still as spotlessly clean as it was when it opened, though they've added more ovens and cooling racks since that whole maybe-we-should-buy-fresh-healthy-food trend has caught on in our fair city. The owner (Kelly R) is still on site almost every day, they still honor a loyalty program that brings the average price of a loaf of bread down considerably when you use it religiously), and it still has the great feel of being your friendly local bakery, because that's what it is. But one doesn't need a lot of space to order goodies. It was welcoming and smelled wonderful. We immediately were greeted and introduced to all the happenings. The gentleman that greeted us was so helpful. He gave us samples, let us know that the breads we got are great to freeze, what they taste well with, etc. I sampled AND bought... the cinnamon walnut raisin bread. It is delicious! I love this place. I have been going here for years and really love the German Rye. I always prefer to get mine unsliced and keep it in the refrigerator. There is nothing worse than going by and finding out that there is none of your favorite left or it is all sliced, so call ahead and order your favorites. They only make German Rye on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and several others only once or twice a month. I got lucky today when picking up my rye that I got the last unsliced Black Forest Pumpernickel. One of my favorite things is they will give you a taste any of the fresh baked breads of the day. HELLO LOVERRRR. My heart is feeling all the feels right, having found Big Sky. If you've seen my review for Waving Wheat, I still hasn't found a baguette that really struck a chord. Until today. I had driven by and thought, oh I should check that out some time. Then someone told me The Sandwich Club uses Big Sky bread (?) and I remember loving that so I stopped by this morning. First of all, I don't know if maybe people just don't know about this storefront, or if they like paying bookoo prices for Farrell Farms, but it was not busy around 10am on a Saturday. At my fav bread spot in TX, you'd be lucky to get a loaf by 10 lol! Second of all, what a friendly staff. The lady that helped me asked a couple questions and suddenly I'd told her my whole life story and we're BFFLs and I'm gonna babysit for her. Jk. I don't babysit. But for real, she was that friendly. I bought my beloved baguette, which has an amazing crust and crumb, the way a baguette should. Then I browsed and HAD to buy a cookie. Did you know all their cookies and brownies are whole wheat?! Where they do dat at?! I mean seriously. The chocolate chip walnut is super yummy. I plan to stop by for a spelt loaf next weekend. I love that they have punch cards for loaves. And I don't know that there's any loaf over $5 (compared to the $7 for Farrell I was paying. Barf. I know.)
