Stopped here for lunch while driving along the Pacific Coast Highway. I had the most delicious sandwich - it was just swiss cheese on marble rye, but was so good. It was the bread that made it so delicious. It was soft and fresh and huge. I am a non-meat eater, so my sandwich was simple. I really enjoyed it. The people behind the counter were nice and helpful. There are lots of cool things (souveniers) in the little store also. I took my sandwich down to the state park and ate it in the park at a picinc table. What could be better? read more

Big Sur Deli - Delis Near Me - Big Sur, California

Dropped in to get some ice while camping in the area. First thing I noticed was a large deli case filled with various foods including corn dogs, buffalo wings, chicken tamales, samosas, meatloaf, etc. Second thing I noticed were three large microwaves on rather high shelves directly behind the case. I didn't order anything to eat, so I can only assume that's their method of heating up food. Sure, it's camping and we are all sacrificing normal luxuries, but deli cases and microwaves never present a harmonious relationship. No matter from which angle I look at it, there's no legitimate reason for any business to have 3 microwaves on display like that. Unless, of course, they are selling microwaves. While they have no shame with their microwaves, their ice is buried somewhere in the back of the building, inaccessible to customers. After inquiring if they had ice, the cashier stated it's $2.85 (+ tax) for 7lb. bag. Before I could request a bag, the cashier had moved on to helping another customer before waiting for my reply. Minimum $5 for cc purchase. Service was rude and pretentious. If you head 4.6 miles north on 1 to Riverside Campground and Cabins on the left, they have a store selling ice for $2.50 total for 7 lb. bag without the attitude. On the upside, they have wifi and will give you the password if you ask really nicely. read more

Take out counter review: Huge bean & cheese burrito for the vegetarians, really big and tasty sandwiches as well....Love the coffee...raw sugar and real 1/2 & 1/2 makes it perfect...(and the Crow Logo). Not cheap, but so what....You're in Big Sur, so don't come expecting a good deal on anything except the scenery (it's free). Just before the entrance to Pfeiffer State Beach, this a convenient stop. Guys were friendly and even though they only had deli stuff out, you ask them and they'll hook you up with veggies (onions, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms) from the back. They take ATM too, so if you stuffed all your cash in the pay posts for the campgrounds, its nice to not have to spend green here. read more

It's where the locals go to grab a hot burrito, fresh made sandwich, beer or wine. Right next to the Post Office on Highway One. Reliable place to grab some essential you forgot on your trip since they are open until at least 8pm which is unusual in Big Sur. Keep in mind that they are the only grocery store for dozens of miles, so selection is limited and don't expect fancy anything. I really LOVE their grande meat burrito! read more

Not wheelchair-accessible. I staggered in on my cane to pick up a few things, and wasn't able to find what I wanted. The deli sandwiches looked like a good idea, but the selection of other stuff was a bit thin. Don't get food here unless you plan to eat it elsewhere. They don't allow you to eat on the premises and have no place to eat.

Gluten free bread was so so small compared to regular sized sandwiches and is more expensive to make into a good sandwich. The hippie regular sandwich was amazing. read more

We swung by here to grab a sandwich on our day of exploring the various parks and sites around Big Sur. They have a pretty standard deli menu, along with plenty of hot sandwich options. There was also quite a few other items you could get from the cooler, both American and Mexican influenced. Our sandwiches were both tasty and large, which gave us lots of energy to keep going. In addition to the sandwiches there is a small selections of some staples, snacks and alcohol. Oddly though, there were no pretzels along with the chips. Maybe we just missed it, but just seems odd to not include those. Overall this was a good stop to eat and rehydrate for the rest of the day. With somewhat limited options around the area, I'm sure we'll be back here next time we're in Big Sur to enjoy another sandwich. read more

We stopped in here for a quick bite to eat on Route 1 and I was completely blown away by their sandwiches. The sandwich was stacked at least 3 inches high with fresh cut turkey, cheese and avocado. It was an amazing find If you aren't a big eater or don't have a ravenous appetite you may want to think about sharing a sandwich. My only regret is that I didn't get a chance to snap a photo of our amazing lunch!! read more

Great spot to grab a sandwich in Big Sur to go, for enjoyment at the end of your hike! Sandwiches are very big - you could eat half for lunch and save the rest for a delicious snack at the end of your outdoor activity packed day. We got 2 sandwiches. I'm not a fan of pastrami but this place surprised me with an excellent hot pastrami sandwich that was filled with lettuce and tomatoes. The pastrami itself was great, hot and perfectly flavored. We also ordered a carne asada burrito which was just OK but it came to life once they gave me some habanero sauce to put on top of it. Needed a quick snack and stopped in to this store. So many people were walking out with amazing looking burritos that we decided to try one. Wish I didn't agree to split one! I needed my own after trying it! What a great call! This little burrito bar in the back of the store is amazing. We ordered the carne Asada and had a few things added in. You get to choose what you want on it. You fill out a little form and hand it to the clerk. It was one of the Best burritos iPad in a really long time. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. As we stood there waiting for our food the line just kept getting longer! Glad we found this little gem of a deli in the back of the market! I'll definitely go again!!! read more

I look forward every year to the sandwich I am going to consume from the deli while I am in Big Sur. The bread is always fresh and the selection of meats and veggies are always delicious! The sandwiches are HUGE. They also have a good selection of drinks and chips. They also brew a good cup of coffee. As for the other camping provisions you may be on the hunt for it is a hit or miss, but what do you expect from a little store like this out in the middle of nowhere? Had the worst service. The guy making sandwiches was literally the rudest person I've ever encountered. He just stared at me and other other 3 people I was with with the dirtiest look. My mom ordered a sandwich and he was SO RUDE the entire time. 3 people after my mom ordered sandwiches as well, he literally made all 3 of theirs before making my moms. Another person in line asked to try the tuna so that she could make sure she liked it before she ordered it. The guy looked at her like she had just said the craziest thing ever. He stomps away, grabs a spoon and small bowl, puts a scoop in there, and says YOU NEED TO BUY IT. SO RUDE!!! I literally couldn't believe it. Not a bad place, got a turkey sandwich on a roll, the roll was a French roll with sesame seeds on top, comes with mayo lettuce tomato cheese is extra! They have chips beer wine soda and anything you may need for a quick stop! Attached to the deli is the taphouse, they have a nice menu selection too, then up the drive is the Resturant and bakery, be warned they don't serve dinner until 530! This is why we ate at the deli! There is a cool place to eat through the taphouse up the stairs ! Dogs are welcome too! Was $30 for 2 sandwiches 3 drinks 3 chips and a bag of sour gummy bears! I would stop again if in the area! Be warned the bathroom situation...there is only 2! Makes it tuff for the long stretch of the 1 and no too many bathroom stops! read more
