AMAZING TACOS! The decor here is fabulous and fun so it's an easy place to find a good selfie. It's all in the details so definitely look around! My kids have very different pallets and they both left with full tummies and smiles. My 17 year old said it's the best burrito he has ever had and that's his go to at any restaurant they are available. My 7 year old got his chicken fingers and chips and for the kids meal he was THRILLED to get a candy necklace as a desert. Very unique for a kids meal so I appreciated that! I had the most popular item - the double decker tacos that have the hard shell inside and the soft shell outside. INCREDIBLE! And they were as advertised BIG tacos! We also tried the churros with chocolate dipping sauce that was perfectly sprinkled with that cinnamon and sugar. The salsa was also really really good. Anderson was spot on with his suggestions for the family and so helpful and friendly! He is one of the owners and gave us a bit of history on the journey to creating Big Taco. He was the one that started Tijuana Flats and when they sold the business they missed it so started a new one from scratch again. Everything is made fresh in house every morning and you can definitely tell. The chips are perfectly seasoned and not just "out of a bag". Good food, great service, and very reasonably priced. Next time, I think we'd just stick with the tacos as they were the best of what we tried. And the taco was indeed big in size and taste. Tried big taco today while we were in Castleberry. Saw an interview that a food critic did last year and thought why not. Owner seemed cool in the interview and the food looked delicious so my husband and I went. We both had the queso crunch taco along with chips and queso. First let me say the food was plentiful and reasonably priced. It was delicious! Best taco ever. The queso crunch is a hard taco on the inside with a soft taco on the outside. The queso was very fresh and even the chips were good. Other than the food and cool decor the best part of this experience is Joshua who was the very friendly guy behind the counter. He was helpful not only to us but to other patrons, getting them a high chair while cleaning tables and delivering food. He even stopped at each table to ask how their order was. This new restaurant in Casselberry Commons shopping plaza is from Brian Wheeler, the founder of Tijuana Flats and Tibby's New Orleans Kitchen. They serve made to order tacos, burritos, enchiladas, chimichangas, tostada salads, nachos and special dishes such as a chili smothered burrito. A lot of items similar to their prior Texmex style but they also have chili and Mexican pizza. I was really anticipating this opening to see what Brian and his son Jake were going to offer in their second generation store. My go to at TF has always been the tacos and these did not disappoint. I want to go back and try the Fiestada, Mexican pizza/salad or their 'pick-two' plate which lets you mix and match tacos, burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas along side rice and beans. read more

Most Restaurants provide three tacos per order. At Big Taco, you are only given two. The portions are small and the few times I have eaten here, I leave unsatisfied. The food doesn't have a fresh prepared flavor to it and the salsa is pretty bad. For the money, you can go elsewhere and get more. The ambience is fun, but not enough to keep coming back. read more

Decor is wonderful with the artwork. Team was helpful with new suggestions. Spinach dip was very spinachy and less cheasy but still very good. Queso tacos were very big and packed with flavor- little baby kick to them. Steak chipotle street tacos were messy and broke bc of the liquid. So very messy. Need to be double tortilla wrapped to prevent that. We will return to get our Taco on. read more

We enjoyed our meal. Big Taco has a turn back the clock to when a place that rhymes with Pijuana Plats was good. Before they ditched the foam cups and the real (non-canned) chicken. They have white queso and it was good along with fresh chips. The queso chicken tacos is a combo of a soft shell, hard shell, stuck together with the aforementioned queso. Then it is loaded down with real chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and jalapeños. I held off on the black olives. I've never been fond of olives. They taste like what I think you taste right before you die from being poisoned by your enemy who snuck olives into your meal. Back to Big Taco. Foam cups are in. That's the only way to enjoy the good ice and the Coca Cola products on tap. No P word lousy cola is worthy of the Big Taco foam cups. The service was friendly and they checked on us several times to make sure we enjoyed everything. The portions were good, the tacos were fresh and the service was friendly. We'll be going back. My Standardized Yelp Ratings 5 stars - This is for a place that I see as one of the best at what they do (steaks, sandwiches, BBQ, seafood, etc). 5s are for places I've been several times (typically) at least and never had an "off" experience. The food quality, service, price and atmosphere are all going to meet or exceed expectations. 4 stars - This is for a place that is good, I would drive a little out of the way to go, and the food and service is good, but maybe not amazing. Also for me, this could also be a great place that serves Pepsi products - automatic 1 star loss - bad management decision. 3 stars - This is for a place that I view as standard. Nothing special, nothing lousy, not a place you'd avoid like the plague, but a place that is not one you really look forward to either. 2 stars - This is for a place that had something go wrong or something perpetually wrong. The food and or service is likely consistently suspect here (they probably serve Pepsi too). 1 star - I can't see wasting time writing a review on a place that gets a 1 star. I wish I had taken a picture of the food but I hate it so fast I didn't get too. I'm excited to have a place like this again. Since Tijuana Flats has gone down hill I missed food like this. It was fresh, veggies were crispy and it was so nice. They even have Olives! (odd thing to get excited about but i'm a big fan). My husband and I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious meal and meeting the business owner about a month ago. We asked for a small container/box for left over salsa and chips, since the portion was so large with the meal ordered. We were surprised when we were given fresh chips and salsa to take home. I had big expectations for Big Taco, since it is a collaboration between the original owner of Tijuana Flats and his sons, but I was disappointed. The flavor just wasn't there. The carnitas was too sweet and way too much cinnamon. The taco meat did not make a big impression either. The rice and refried beans just didn't taste good. And their spinach dip basically tasted like creamed spinach. I was expecting the food to be even better than Tijuana Flats, but it wasn't. Hopefully, they can improve their recipes. read more

Was excited to try this place because I heard that it's the same owners that opened Tijuana Flats. Hoped that it would be what Tijuana once was! Cool decor and atmosphere. Staff was nice but food left something to be desired. Wish that my burrito was hotter (temperature) and that the chicken was cut a little bit bigger so that it wasn't falling apart as I was eating it with all of the insides falling out. First off the customer service was horrible, our food was cold and didnt taste seasoned, we asked for to go sodas that never came, and the music is too loud to actually enjoy the food, it's not a night club. Great quality food. Had the steak quesadilla and chicken enchilada. Would have the toppings on the side of the quesadilla next time vs inside as it comes. It needs a side of salsa and sour cream and very thankful that I ordered the chipotle sauce.... which is awesome. Very good flavors and portion of ingredients. . The rice and beans are just ok and understandable as they are not the main act,... Will pass next time. The enchilada could have used more sauce and chicken but again good quality ingredients. The chips and quac were good quality but missing something. Needs salsa as a side and a bit more salt, garlic and lime. Again very good quality but giving feedback to take it over the top.
