Santa Rosa has quickly become one of my favorite local Mexican restaurants. The food is always good. The service is also exceptional. Even on a busy day like Cinco de Mayo, the staff really held their own and remained friendly and attentive. The overall vibe is usually a bit more chill but on holidays it does get lively. In fact, Cinco de Mayo was one of the busiest and most lively I've seen the restaurant. Even with all the extra foot traffic, quality service was still upheld. I finally ventured out and tried their hard shell tacos (with beef). They were a little on the plain side but for $9.00, 3 hard shell beef tacos did what they needed to do. With some cilantro, queso and salsa, the tacos were brought to life. As always, the margaritas were great! I usually only need one - so that's always a good sign. Price points are incredible. I really cannot rave more about how affordable this local spot is. I'll continue to visit and try more of their menu. They got a long term fan out of me! read more

always am in this plaza but hadn't came here until yesterday! was pleasantly surprised with how authentic this way was! they even have happy hour on the weekend (3-6pm) which i thought was great. Our margaritas were definitely enjoyable for only $6. My girly and I both agreed that our dishes could've used more salt in the meat and in the guac. Located in a strip mall at the corner of Semeron/436 & Howell Branch, this gem easily blends in with the laundromat and nail salon. But once you get close to it? The delicious smells waif in the air enticing you to visit. They have daily specials and a happy hour that offers great drink specials and appetizers. I had the Molcajete, which is Hot lava rock full of ribeye, chicken breast, shrimp, chorizo and carnitas. Topped with cheese, and a grilled pepper. Served with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. I really wanted to enjoy this meal, but the experience was disappointing. The margaritas were overly sweet and tasted like bottled sour mix instead of anything fresh. The complimentary chips were stale, and while the queso and salsa had good flavor, they were far spicier than expected without any warning. I ordered the Steak Vallarta, and it was honestly inedible. The steak was dry, rubbery, and completely bland, with no seasoning or care in preparation. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the tamales were decent and the waitresses were genuinely kind and attentive. I appreciate good service, but the food quality simply did not meet even basic expectations. Music and decor were nice but nothing to write home about. I will not be returning. read more

Really enjoy the food at Santa Rosa! The menu has nice variety, fair pricing, and of course it's delicious. I've been enjoying the food at SR for several years. Started with an UberEats order several years ago, loved it so much that I started dining in. You can't go wrong either way. But! If you dine in, you can take advantage of the awesome drink deals. Today we had two for one sangrias which was an awesome accompaniment to our tacos and enchiladas. Happy hour rocks as well! Don't miss out on $6 margaritas from 3-6. This is a very nice restaurant. This was my first visit during lunch. I had the burrito lunch special and it was very well prepared served nice and hot by a very sweet young lady. She was very attentive and was helpful with me, trying to find a particular sauce that I was looking for my burrito. I had the ground beef burrito, and I look forward to returning to try the chicken burrito soon. The salsa had a very nice little Hidden kick at the end. Give it a try. My mom and I tried @eatsantarosamex for the first time a few weeks ago and we loved it. The Queso Dip and the Guacamole were both made in house and they were so delicious. The Molcajete definitely stole the show. It was a hot lava stone filled with all different kinds of meats. We made fajitas with corn tortillas and had some rice, beans, and salad on the side. Definitely come hungry if you order this! Of course we ordered the Churros and Mexican coffee to end our meal. The service and food were incredible! We will definitely be back again! This is the closest Mexican restaurant to my home. I love Mexican food, and am glad it's a good one! They weren't too busy when I came here, so we were taken care of very quickly. The service and food was fast, which I greatly appreciated! The restaurant was a little loud with music coming from large standing speakers. We didn't get to enjoy the live performance, but the stage was ready for them to arrive. I got the California bowl and my guest got the chili relaino dinner. My bowl was massive! Quite frankly, the best tacos I have ever eaten. This is not hyperbole, it is a fact. This restaurant is tucked away in a rather old strip mall and seems to be hiding among a dollar store and thrift shop. Thankfully, my son saw it (we've been coming to this strip center for years and never ventured into this place.) He decided lunch was to be there. Whenever my son tries a new Mexican restaurant, he orders the simplest of meals: a cheese quesadilla. That's it. No peppers, no protein, no rice - NOTHING BUT CHEESE. This was his favorite local quesadilla. His absolute favorite is a road trip away. His plate came out with the standard rice and refried beans (we both got that side) and together, it made for a great lunch. Just enough to tide the teenager over til dinner. I got the Pollo Tacos Meal (trio of tacos) and let me say; they were the best tacos I have ever eaten. They were so full and juicy and...just perfect. The staff was attentive, anticipating refills before we asked. The price was right- less than $30 for the both of us. Plus, the exact right amount of food for us both. What a nice meal! Good authentic Mexican restaurant with friendly service. We started with a delicious Classic Margarita with a salt rim and a Passion Fruit Margarita with a sugar rim. The fresh made Guacamole and Queso is perfect to go with the complimentary Chips and Salsa. Highly recommend Molcajete. It literally has everything you want. The ambience, food, and service was outstanding. This was my first time going here, which I discovered the place while doing some shopping in the area. All of the staff was very friendly and attentive. They were not super busy, being a Tuesday night, but had some great specials and an outdoor patio. I have tried this restaurant several times now (twice at their old location in Maitland and this recent visit at their new location in Casselberry), mainly because I was seeing good things about them. I wasn't completely impressed the first two times (there were some positives) and decided to give them a third try when I saw that they had moved to a new location, hoping to finally get that experience I have read about. Unfortunately, the third time was not the charm. We started off on a positive note because they bring you warm chips and your choice of homemade salsa or queso. Both dips are fantastic. We chose the salsa and not the queso (to be safe as explained later). Yum! To drink, I had the Jamaica Agua Fresca. I like the hint of cinnamon & flavor to this beverage but it was too sweet for me. My experience with Agua Fresca is that they have been light & refreshing & not too sweet. I definitely prefer the latter version. For my entree, I tried their Arroz California. It comes "drizzled" with queso usually. I asked for the queso on the side though because on my first visit, I tried the Arroz Texano, which was "covered" with queso, and although it was tasty at first, I had to stop eating about a third of the way through because it was so rich & heavy (and later my stomach told me how upset it was at me for this). I thought I'd play it safe this time. The meal ended up being pretty inedible. The rice was dry and hard with little flavor besides saltiness. The chicken (you have your choice of meat) was also dried out and SUPER salty. Maybe the queso masks this saltiness because I don't remember the Arroz Texano being so salty. The (few) vegetables were...you guessed it....way too salty as well as mushy & seemed days past their prime. I simply had to stop eating. Finally, we attempted, once again, to order the Chimibanana for dessert. Once again, they "were out" of it. Maybe we are just unlucky & the three times we tried to order there was a run for Chimibananas? Or maybe they should stop putting it on their menu? (In this same vein, it's odd that their menu pictures a "Brochetas" meal but it's nowhere to be found on the actual menu??) Their service has been adequate but not wonderful. One bad day I can brush off, but when all of our visits have been lacking in the service area, I have to mention it. We were wanting to find a regular Mexican place close to us (some good choices a little further out) but maybe this place is just not meant for us. I will say that the new location has a nice, spacious interior with plenty of seating. It looks like it is more conducive to outdoor seating as the "patio" in front is wider and not located next to a dumpster like at the old location. Also, the fish tacos I had on my second visit were pretty nice too. I hope that this review gives them some critiques that will help them improve and be successful. Unfortunately, we will probably not give them that 4th chance. read more

Discovered this because I went to a different Mexican restaurant (Delmonte) and found out it was closed. This is close by and saved the day. My fiancé got the birria tacos. She said they are good but not the best birria she's had. I got 3 street tacos, carnitas and pastor. Both have excellent flavor and are nice and juicy. The meals come with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips are good and the salsa has good flavor with just the right amount of heat. I would definitely come here again. Great place for tacos. In fact, I think this moves into my top 10 taco places. read more

So happy to find there was a new location because me and my partner missed out on visiting the last one, but the new location isn't far from the old. We didn't read the details of the ChoriQueso carefully and so it was a surprise when it wasn't dipable with tortilla chips- it comes with 3 flour tortillas. It's like a stretchy queso blanco (flavor was similar to mozzarella) with oily chorizo. Flavor was really good, it was just messy with the amount of oil plus you have to cut the cheese to get it into pieces for the tortillas. Luckily my partner got the Santa Rosa burrito -steak- which is topped with regular queso, so we got it try it from that. It had a nice spice to it and I'm a little sad that's not the queso we ordered! But he liked his burrito and it was quite large. My asada street tacos were okay. The steak was on the tougher side and not super flavorful but there was a good amount of meat. Each taco (3 total) were held together with 2 small corn tacos and they had white onion and cilantro inside. The lime wedges were kinda brown and dry but it was enough for my needs. It came with a red sauce and salsa verde on the side, OMG *CAUTION* I did not expect the punch of spice from the red one. The Mexican rice and refried beans were your basic same sides that you would get anywhere, but still enjoyable. This was take-out order but I think next time in restaurant would be a better choice. read more

We love this place. I'm not a marguerita person but I really like theirs. We found them at their old location and liked going. We still like going and the new ambience is even better. My stepson says the virgin strawberry daiquiri was the best he's had, including the sugar on the rim. They have GREAT queso and chips and salsa. We've made this a weekly stop for our family.
