Solid choice for a Mexican meal. I started with a house margarita -- then quickly followed it with another. I'm partial to margaritas on the rocks with a salted rim, and these were tasty without needing any tequila upgrades. Sitting at the bar, I was promptly served thin, hot, crispy tortilla chips alongside a smooth, slightly spicy cilantro-forward picante. The chips had just the right amount of salt and were clearly fresh. When I asked for something spicier, the server delivered two small squeeze bottles of what I can only describe as liquid gold -- one habanero and one jalapeño. Both were excellent: the habanero packed serious heat, while the jalapeno had a brighter, more floral flavor. A quick dip in the picante followed by a single drop of the habanero sauce delivered exactly the under-the-eye sweat I look for in a good hot sauce experience. For this Sunday lunch, I went with the Al Pastor tacos -- three medium-sized soft tortillas filled with chunky, well-marinated pork. They were served with a side of freshly chopped white onion and cilantro, along with Mexican rice and refried beans. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch while watching an NBA game on TV and listening to Spanish salsa music playing overhead. The place is small, ambiance is cute and festive lol it wasn't to busy for a Monday but the food is so big and flavorful ..I ended up getting the fiesta nacho with grilled chicken and a homemade red sangria everything was so good and fresh! Chips hot out the fryer salsa tasted homemade and sangria was okay but definitely had some good wine in it lol! Divana was adorable but she was nice and answered every question I had with a smile and honesty and I liked that, her service was great! The only thing is the lunch menu isn't flexible with side, I don't eat beans and couldn't switch it out but overall it was great and I will be back to try more things! read more

Made a late night stop for a late dinner. We were greeted immediately upon entering and escorted to a window table. There was upbeat music playing. The music was just what I needed to keep me going after a long day. I swayed and bopped my head along to the beat. Our server came over with chips and salsa for the table. He answered questions about the food and provided drink options. I ordered the Jamaica Agua Fresca and Salmon Mango à la Mexicana with Vegetables. Mom had the Fried Red Snapper with Cilantro Rice and a Lemonade. The chips were fresh and the salsa had a good kick. The Jamaica Agua Fresca was good. However, it is sweet. This is our usual "go to" but there has always been an issue when asking for another small bowl of salsa. They believe one tiny blk bowl is enough for two people. The problem with that is they also offer 2 spicy squeeze bottles which is great if both people liked spice. So when we ask for an extra tiny small blk bowl not even filled to brim with salsa - they get a little defensive and not as nice. I mean come on - I can drive 5 mins down the road to an establishment that has a freaking salsa bar - unlimited. This place should have been happy we were customers - we are usually 1 of 2 couples eating in there during the day. So this last trip broke the straw... we asked for another bowl like we normally do and explained that one of us doesn't like the spice from the sauces. Now we are being told it would cost extra for more. I mean they just lost customers that were pretty much weekly customers bc of $2.99 salsa that could have been avoided and didn't care when we told the waiter "Frank". We did order an appetizer as well. We had soda and tea. This was just a quick stop in the middle of the day to have a snack. I will also say a few of their staff has no personality at all and makes the experience pretty bad. It's obvious they don't like to give salsa away - their food has always been outstanding but we won't be back due to the way we were treated. The staff usually recognizes us. We have even gone for dinner with friends and didn't get charged for the salsa. When you know it's going to be an issue walking in, it's probably best to find another place more welcoming and appreciates your business. The place really could do well. The music is always fun. Poblanos is a great local find for Mexican food in Oviedo! They moved locations from across town and I'm glad they did as they are slightly closer to us. The service has been excellent on our visits here. Food comes out fast and accurate. On our last visit, we loved the traditional feast for two. It included five different items so we were able to try a variety of things. I loved the beef chimichanga. The chicken quesadilla was nice and cheesy and to my liking! Chips and salsa are complimentary so that's always a plus. We will be back for a visit to Poblanos again! read more

So we've hit most of the Mexican spots in and around Oviedo. We wanted to try poblanos, so this week we did. Friendly staff just not the fastest to get your order for drinks. Not to take your food order. The chips were on the cold side of things although the second batch was warmer. Ordered the fajitas, the most generous portion I've had but it worded. For the price I've had better in the area. My overall impression was this is a good Mexican restaurant. It's not the best around but for the location it works. I do t think we'll be back. read more

On a whim, we came here on a Wednesday night for a quick dinner before a show. Love the decor and we were pleasantly surprised to see a decent amount of patrons. The service was great, our server was very friendly and helpful! The chips are ok, authentic without salt but fresh. I had the birria quesadilla which is brisket and cheese and holy crap was it tasty! It was way too big for one sitting so I'll be bringing the rest home for lunch. The rice was tasty and they give you a good amount of toppings. Hubby had the choose 3 meal with birria, carnitas, and crane asada. The birria was by far the best. I found the carnitas to be a bit dry and without a ton of flavor and the carne asada seemed slightly dry and overcooked. But he seemed to enjoy his meal. He liked the old fashioned. First time trying Pobalano's. Great little place nearby in Oviedo. The ambiance is fun and not overwhelming. Service was prompt and friendly. Of course, there's the standard chips and salsa. They were tasty. The old fashioned was ok (what did I expect at a Mexican restaurant for a non-margarita drink?) - not very strong. The food is what shined. We ordered the birria quesadilla and a taco combo (carne asada, carnitas, and birria). The carne asada was ok - a little tough. Carnitas definitely had more flavor. The superstar here is the birria! First time so we both got the combos. His grilled chicken burrito was a 3$ up charge that we were not told but he loved his potato stuffed pepper.. I loved my pork tamale very mild and very corn focused..my shredded chicken enchilada wet and not that good..my ground beef burrito was not flavorful at all...it tasted like cheap meat. To start the wait staff is super nice and very attentive. The restaurant is super well decorated. Lots of new places are doing in my opinion very bland decor with just gray. This mixes the warm tones of dark wood in a feel warm and welcoming while being fresh and updated. My Skinny Margarita was super good and refreshing. My SO got the chicken Mole and I got chicken with Verde. Both were absolutely delicious, as was their hot sauces they had. I hope they do well as we will be back! read more

I'm so glad Poblano's moved closer to me! Selfish I know but Yayy!! Went for lunch last week and it was delicious as I remembered! Sat down right away and waitress was very sweet and attentive. Brought chips and salsa which were great! I ordered the lunch ground beef chimi which I was so happy they had a lunch portion. It was the perfect size and I was able to eat it all!! I liked this place a lot. The food was delicious, the portions are generous, and the wait staff were attentive. We got the quesito sticks as an appetizer and they came with a lovely cilantro garlic sauce. They also have great creamy jalapeno and habanero sauces that they make in-house. It has a similar vibe to Senior Tequila's, but I far preferred Poblano's chicken fajitas to anything I've ever had at ST's. The kids meals are $7.99 and there is a wide variety. Stopped in for an early dinner. We ordered a few plates of chicken and beef Chimichangas. We could not have been happier. It was the exact comfort food we were hoping to get. We will be back to explore their menu a bit deeper now that we know the food is really good here. You tell all the ingredients are quality. The side salad with some lettuce, crème, avocado, and tomatoes was a nice touch. If I could change one thing, I would work on the tortilla chip's. I thought they had a bit of strange after taste. We hadn't been since before the pandemic, when they were in their old location. The new location is close to us so we were happy to see them open. We finally got in. They said same owners and chef. The menu seems sparse. There is a lot, but not much at the same time. And it seems rather expensive. We just wanted to try a few things, asked about the nachos. Ended up with the nachos with ground beef and cheese. Nacho cheese with jalapeños, and all boring. No salsa or anything to give it flavor as the ground beef was plain. It was just boring. The chimichanga plate was two. We decided to get that to split. They were shredded beef wrapped in tortilla like a burrito lightly crisped. Not a chimichanga. Covered in the same flavorless nacho cheese. There was a lot of meat in it, almost too much as it was difficult to eat. But there was nothing else in it, just shredded stew meat. Needless to say, it was not great. The new location looks nice, no one seemed interested to be there or worry about our table. We tried to get someone's attention to leave for about 5 minutes to get a bill to go to no avail, despite being the only table. Doubtful we'll be back. read more
