My wife and I were passing through the San Antonio area last year on a trip from Oregon. We were…read moregoing to be there for a few days, so I had an opportunity to do a mid-trip inspection on our travel trailer. I was shocked to find that a couple of the spring shackles were worn to the point of imminent failure (five year old trailer). There's no way we would have made it back home without an immediate repair. We made contact with a trailer outfit in New Braunfels - the owner took a look at our issue and thought he could fix it. He said to bring it in the next morning. When we showed up, the owner wasn't there. We waited for about 45 minutes - when he did finally arrive, his story changed completely - he said he couldn't help us, and that "we'd be fine to make it home." Desperate, we made about 10 phone calls before we happened onto Brian at Specialty. We brought the trailer by, and he said he could probably deal with it the following morning "if his guys showed up." Sure enough, I called him first thing, and he said to bring it by. Backed it right into his shop, and an hour and a half later, all of the spring shackles were replaced and we were ready to roll. Gave us great peace of mind for the rest of the trip. It's really hard to find vendors like this nowadays. No one else could or would help us. His guys did a great job, and the price was amazingly reasonable, considering it was somewhat of an emergency. Came here to get a trailer, after being quoted several hundred dollars more from Back 40 trailers…read morein Kerrville. Apparently, this is considered a factory store as opposed to an actual dealer. I was a little surprised, as there weren't that many tools in the back (we needed channel locks to put on a different safety chain, and they didn't even have a second pair of them). The staff is friendly and attentive - there are only 3 people here - Wes, another gentleman whose name I forgot, and Mary Jane at the front/receptionist. I ordered a single axle, but wanted trailer brakes on it. It took about a week to get my trailer and a month and a half to get my title and metal plate. I also ordered a spare tire, but I was dismayed that nobody told me the spare would be a bias tire (when the trailer comes with radials). I ended up getting a radial spare with rim from my local tire guy for about 6 bucks cheaper than Big Tex sold me the bias spare, and Wes happily refunded my money (since I never used the spare). All in all, I would come back here again when I'm ready to upgrade to a bigger/longer trailer.
