I really like Big Wig Tacos. It's my third time there. This time I ordered the Chorizo Burrito, it was very good with just the right amount of delicious fillings. I ordered their Horchata for the first time, it had the right amount of sweetness. It has a sweet milk taste similar to a vanilla shake. My friend ordered two steak tacos and she raved about them and she is a picky eater. We shared Guacamole, we ordered two orders because the container isn't that big, they serve a good amount of chips with it and they were still warm letting me know they didn't come out of a bag. The restaurant is very clean, including the bathrooms. The counterperson was friendly and helpful and the owner came around to introduce himself. It's mostly a pick up not a sit-down restaurant. I live right next to Big Wig and I'm there all the time. The food is great. However my boyfriend and I had a scary experience at big wig around ~2 am. One of the cashiers / workers checked us out on the register and thought we were drunk so he clicked through all the tipping screens himself when we were supposed to and left himself a 25% tip. The food is good. This review is based solely on pickup orders. That's why they get 2 stars vs 1. I generally do Not leave reviews. But after 8 out 10 orders messed up, my patience is stretched. Well that sucks because now you have to go to Big Wig and get a surprisingly even more subpar bowl. Okay, maybe that's a little harsh. To be honest, I'm torn in terms of how to rate this place. Here's the pros: 1. The chips are good and I got a free bag with my take out order. Not sure if that's standard but it was much appreciated. 2. Ordered the Mahi Mahi salad on a whim and it was pretty damn good. Fish was seasoned and cooked very well and all of the produce was pretty fresh for being ordered at 10:30pm. 3. I didn't eat in the restaurant but it was very clean and the service was friendly and super fast. 4. The steak by itself was pretty good too. 5. Nice tasting salsas 6. Decent portions for the price. Cons: 1. Ordered a steak burrito bowl with everything which I assume is a somewhat standard meal and the rice that made up a good amount of the bowl might just be the blandest and overboiled I've ever tasted. There also wasn't much cilantro, onion or lettuce in my bowl. 2. Didn't see any option to add jalapeños, avocado or guacamole on the menu without ordering a full guacamole and chips which would be nice. 3. Too much cheese for my liking. I was checking out the area of Logan Square and was in the mood for some tacos. For starters, the menu is extremely simple. I wanted tacos and they had tacos so I was okay with that. I got tacos with steak and they were good, but nothing special. My friend got a chorizo bowl. We shared a side of chips and queso, which was the highlight of the entire meal. You definitely get a good serving of the queso. The restaurant was super quiet with only one other customer inside. Overall, it quenched my taco craving, but nothing really stood out to me. I love Big Wig and get pick up from there probably once a week. My favorites are tacos for a low key meal, a bowl for a quick and easy low carb lunch, or nachos or quesadilla (they're huge!) for a tasty hangover indulgence. I love a chicken/fajitas combination, and my fiance gets steak most of the time. The queso is really good (not like the crap Chipotle has), and the guacamole is always fresh and tasty. To improve, I wish they had some sort of loyalty program, and it's confusing when you want to order a fish taco whether or not you need to add the ingredients it comes with according to signage in the restaurant (I find what comes out is inconsistent, whether ordering online or in person on the kiosk). Big Wig was was overall pretty good, but not something I would seek out. They had very good sized portions and a low wait time. They had friendly staff and a nice restaurant, but overall it was a bit too overpriced for what you get. But they are open late and that will always be a redeeming factor in a restaurant to me. read more

Need a Nacho fix? Look no further! I ordered the skirt steak nachos this evening. The steak was tender with a hint of smoke from the grill. Usually you find more chips than meat in Nachos, but not here! Let's just say that there is enough meat for every last chip on your plate. After I told them I didnt want sour cream the cook seemed very annoyed and threw the burrito he made with sour cream in the garbage. After he gave the new burrito to another worker to give to me I left. Half way through eating my burrito at work I bit into something hard which was a square plastic piece used to close bags. Im very suspicious that the cook intentionally put that piece of plastic in my burrito, I'm sure of it. I talked to an attorney and will be taking action. I'm purely basing this on the taste of the food. I really wanted to like this place. However, Logan is flooded with Mexican restaurants. So the bar is set high when it comes to taste. A steak burrito/steak taco is usually my benchmark across restaurants. The steak was just average unfortunately and on the pricey side for the area. The overall burrito was lacking flavor.
