My wife and I had a super fun trip on a full day trip down the French Creek section of the Trinity River. My wife floated down in the raft while I joined another group of kayakers following behind. This is a Class II trip, but with the big winter we just had the river is flowing fast and cold (51 degrees right now). Us kayakers wore wet suits and I was glad I did as I was "initiated " in the first rapid. I had trouble getting back in my raft so Libby and Joe helped me out. From there I mastered my technique to be sure I didn't head sideways into a rapid and stayed in my kayak the rest of the trip. It was a fun float on a beautiful river with top guides to match. Our guide Joe was friendly and made it easy for us to enjoy our first-time rafting experience. I appreciated that Bigfoot had slots available for half days and had a moderately challenging trip that was still suitable for folks in our group who weren't huge thrill-seekers. We had some exciting rapids and it was also fun to jump into the river at the jump rocks along the way. Pretty decent rafting experience. We went in a group of 3 and luckily got a separate boat with one guide. We can't wear masks in the boat due to drowning hazards. Our guide Craig was very professional and fun, which I would say contributed a lot to overall experience. Don't forget to tip your guide guys!. We also did a rescue mission for sister boat who were stuck on a rock. One suggestion for the mgmt. is to have ropes tied around the boat so that people can grab on to them easily if they fall. There is hardly any support to grab around the boat while sitting or if we fall outside. If they have group discount rates it would be great. Lastly, I wish they clicked photographs during rapids for a memorable experience. read more

We did the half day Cedar Flat run which had a few more rapids than the French Creek run. We had to stick to Cl 2 rapids because of the little guy. Very laid back and helpful outfit. First, someone answered the phone when I called to inquire about a same-day launch and they were able to accommodate a late afternoon arrival. Was seeking a fun, positive, first-time rafting experience for the family. Check! Second, Shelby was an A+ guide. Professional, knowledgeable, excellent communicator, friendly, and easy going. If you are coming to California to Whitewater raft this is the place to go. It was my daughter's 22nd birthday and I prayed we would have the perfect person. AJ was our guide!!! I was a single mother for 11 years and got remarried 4 years ago let's just say it's been rocky between my two children and my new husband. This day was so much cheaper than the therapy that we have been needing as a family. AJ knew how to read everybody's mood in the boat and helped us all work together as a family. He made us laugh we did really cool things but we felt totally safe because he so experienced. He made the most amazing hat for my daughter for her birthday . From the first response to my inquiry email all the way to our last moments, Bigfoot Rafting was a great experience. We had a party of 10 guys for a bachelor party. We did a two-day, overnight adventure. The guides, Jake and Colin, took us down the Upper Trinity the first day. We had a great time. They prepared lunch and dinner the first day and breakfast and lunch the next. We all had plenty to eat and drink. The campground was all set up with tents, sleeping bags, and chairs. Had a great ride! So much fun!!! We went white water rafting with this outfit on 8/9/12 and had a great time. Our guide was Emily and she was friendly and knowledgeable about the river and local wild life. We did the "2" rated ride for 1/2 day and it was nice but really wished we had done the "3" rated ride. The 2 is very mellow with only a few "rapids" spots but still a really enjoyable ride down the river. The company was recently purchased by a younger couple that are hands on and very friendly. Their prices are good and their equipment seemed to be in good condition (to my very amateur eyes). We will for sure visit them again on our next trip to No Cal for the "3" ride! The rafting trip was a huge success for my group of 11. The Big Foot rafting company was super accommodating for us. We were late due to some road work, but they didn't rush us or change the mood in any way. We were able to choose who went in which raft. Both guides, Alley and Alex, were thorough and professional regarding our safety by clearly explaining what to do in an emergency situation. They were entertaining and indulged us in swimming, conversation, and games so we were sad when the trip ended. We did a full day with a good lunch prepared that was worth the price. The river itself has a variety of class 3+ rapids. There's incredible wildlife like bald eagle sightings and spots for swimming. During our trip, there were just enough other rafters that our group didn't feel lonely but not so many that we bumped into others. We went at our own pace. This trip was totally worth the time it took to get up there to Trinity. I'm ready to return. read more

My friend Candace and I booked a tour with this place as a part of a road trip, and we were not disappointed! We booked the full day French Creek trip, as we had never river rafted before and were a little intimidated by the Class III rapids. We had some issues the morning of with our car not starting, and the staff were super accommodating in letting us start our trip a little later. Our guide, Dennis, was easily our favorite part of this trip! He was so personable and friendly, sharing stories and ensuring we were comfortable and informed for the duration of the trip. We made stops to swim and cliff jump, and we were super impressed with the lunch set up (homemade hummus and ingredients to build your own wrap!!). We stayed in the Steelhead cottages across the street, and we were thrilled with the entire experience. We will definitely be back next year with our friends to face the Class III rapids, hopefully with Dennis as our guide :) read more

Three families booked a multi day trip, with a put in at Hawkins Bar and take out at Tish Tang. It was easy to set up the trip with Briana. Our guides were Matt, Ashley and Kate. They were really great with us and with our kids, and were very focused on safety with a hefty side dose of fun. Which is what all of us definitely had. The kids loved each of the guides (we had 6 kids on the trip, ages: 6,7,8,8,9,10) They cooked us amazing meals every day and tailored the trip around our desires and whims in a way that made everything very relaxed and, did I say this already? My family and I took a trip with Bigfoot Rafting this last week. Our guide, Maddie (sp?), was not good. She offered some adult jokes with my young niece and nephew in the raft to begin with. The worst part was that she did a poor job with guiding the raft through rapids and ultimately wrapped the raft around a rock causing people to clinging to the raft that was filling with forceful water due to it being on it's side. My daughter got scared, and all the guide could do was tell her "it wasn't that bad!" Fortunately, we were able to switch guides to Dave, who was very good. He skillfully guided the raft through the remaining rapids, told us about what to expect in every set of rapids, and put everyone at ease. So I would definitely recommend the company, Bigfoot, but would advise to stay away from Maddie who needs a lot more experience and isn't as good as she thinks she is! I would highly recommend Dave, who gave you a sense of confidence with his skills and demeanor. read more

We rented a raft and the staff at Big Flat were rude when we picked it up. They said we were late and would have rented our raft to someone else if they came in. We were never told there was a time limit to when we should pick it up since we rented it for the day and paid a week ahead. So beware. Also when we went back to return it no one was there and we had to look for them across the street even though it was within the return timeframe. I will NOT be using this company again after being charged $73 for a piece of equipment that we never received or saw at check in. Check in felt a bit rushed, as they were assisting another group. I was asked how much equipment I would need (life jackets, paddles, dry bags and straps) and asked to sign and pay. I mistakenly signed the agreement without first receiving the equipment. I did not know that we should have received a pump with our other supplies. I am extremely disappointed in how they handled our group not receiving a pump and being denied a refund for equipment we NEVER were in possession of. Edit to respond to Business: I do not take it lightly when posting a negative review. In general I love to support local, small businesses. In fact if your customer service would have been better when the problem occurred, I wouldn't have felt the need to report this problem publicly. Something as simple as suggesting to not charge me until an inventory was taken or believing a customer and splitting the cost could go a long way in working with customers. I do want to state that I was fully aware of the charges which I would incur if any materials were in fact lost or broken and understand the policy. Which is why we strapped down all supplies and did not give the kids paddles. As before I do acknowledge that I should have taken a closer look at the supply list. It is a mistake I will not make again. I never once heard that we needed a pump, so I was not looking for it as WE loaded our own supplies into the car. I truly believe if you keep an accurate inventory you would have all your supplies accounted for. read more

Not the greatest rafting trip I've been on. I went for a Coast Guard morale trip July 30th, 2015, and it was not the first time I'd been rafting. When we arrived, the site was very open, good for the dry 100-degree weather. The facilities (outdoor shacks) seemed very well-kept and open for the heat. The staff was very friendly and had decided to dress up for our group event. One guy was in a red dress and wig, another guy in a revealing zebra tights outfit, a girl wore a tutu and fairy wings and while fun, I think it might not have been thought through very well because despite their positive attitude, some of their costumes made members of our group uncomfortable. Being in a raft going over sharp rocks in high speed water with someone who makes you uncomfortable is not safe. Firstly, the transportation they provide is not suitable for the occasions where they have to accommodate groups of our size. The trip was a sweaty ride split between two vans, all of us crammed up shoulder to shoulder to fit our whole group in one trip. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. We were all required to wear helmets and life jackets- our group had reserved and planned the trip a month ahead of time, including number of members who would be attending, yet there weren't enough helmets provided. One person on my team traded me because her helmet wasn't the right fit and the gear obviously isn't cleaned properly because it smells like smoke and vinegar. On top of this, my rafting team soon came to find that our poorly-kept raft had a huge leak in the left pontoon. About halfway through the rapids, we stopped to take a snack break. They passed out water and gave us a chance to swim . I do not believe plastic bags of trail mix are a legitimate "provided refreshment." It was unsanitary eating out of plastic unmarked bags, and it was not the kind of sustenance a person needs on a four-hour+ rafting trip, especially for the children we had with us on the trip. I know if I was hungry, they must have been starving, and to only get melted m&ms and soggy peanuts in shared plastic bags was disappointing. We did pay a discounted price for the trip so I guess you get what you pay for. On top of this, the guide manager was constantly smoking upwind of us and we had a fair number of children on the trip. He would light one up every time we stopped, about every 10-20 minutes, and it reeked. Our rafting guide was Libby (sp) and I did not feel completely safe with her. Our raft got stuck on rocks 8 times, and only one of those was due to the drought and shallow waters. My team warned her each time when a rock was coming up her instructions only caused us to get stuck. At one point, we got stuck in the middle of a class 3 rapid for fifteen minutes, water up to our knees rushing into the boat because of our deflated left pontoon. A guide from another rafting company, Trinity Rafting, jumped out, climbed through the rapids, and gave us a tie-down strap to help pull us out. We found out later that she was steering us with a broken paddle and refused to trade for any better paddles offered. Later in the trip, on one of the last rapids, a class 3, the last raft in our group went down and flipped upside down over a rock. It looked scary, and we counted helmets coming out from under the rapids. We got six, five members and the guide, and realized after a few minutes we were still missing one person. Not one of the Bigfoot guides moved to go to the raft and help the unknown stranded member. The Trinity Rafting guide was still with our group though and once again leapt off his boat, ran up the rapids, jumped onto the upturned raft, and pulled a little girl out of the water. She had been hanging on to one of the raft handles with one hand stuck between the raft and the rocks. As the Trinity guide checked on her, one of the members of our group who had first aid qualifications kayaked over and went to help. Fortunately, the girl was okay and she got right back in the raft to keep going once they had righted it. From a spectator's view, out of reach and unable to help, it was terrifying and made me seriously doubt the abilities of the Bigfoot Rafting guides. They should not only know what to do in that kind of emergency but also move as quickly as the other guide did to go and fix the problem. Besides those negative points, the river is absolutely beautiful. The setting is stunning- we had colorful dragonflies, very few annoying insects, crawdads on the shore, chances to get out and swim or jump off rocks, and we even had a fly-over by a bald eagle who stayed with us for about a mile of the trip. The staff is very happy, good conversation, and does have the foundation for good direction, but I am not confident in their experience level and I will not be going back to this rafting company again. read more

The rafts were in decent shape. The river run was amazing and had some challenging rapids that were so much fun. I was having a wonderful experience until I was met with alarming disrespect and blatant rudeness from Evan (the manager). I am convinced he was drunk or high or both. Upon returning the kayak, he rudely accused me of not wearing my lifejacket. I had my lifejacket on for the entirety of the kayak trip. I assured him that I did. When I asked him why he was being so rude, he didn't respond. He then started yelling at my approaching boyfriend, saying things like "You could have drowned and I would have gotten in trouble". This dude was trippin out hard. For no reason. Then I asked to speak to his boss, and he said "Yeah, call my boss, you can even use the phone." I said okay and asked for the phone and he said "Use your own phone." Im like, Okay, I thought you just said I could use the phone...So then I asked for his name and he said this "Your mom!" Wow! This is the manager of the business?! How juvenile! What a weirdo! What a pitiful way to end a wonderful river float! Don't come here. read more

We just did a wonderful half day river rafting trip with our guide Kate. It's our second time on a Class 3 river and we had our teenage son with us. As a mom, and not a really great swimmer, safety was my first concern. I was really pleased with this rafting company. We arrived at their easy to find location off of the 299 about an hour and 15 outside of Redding, and they quickly got us fitted for life vests and helmets. They have a lock box for your car keys and free parking. Don't plan on bringing anything you can't bare to lose. We wore quick dry tops over bathing suits for sun protection. We also are able to fit a baseball cap under the helmets. They have shirts you can wear if you get cold. The van ride to the place we put the raft in was a short 10 minutes. It was midweek and it was just the 3 of us on our raft. Kate gave us all oars and excellent safety instructions. The water wasn't it's highest or lowest so it made for a great ride. I guess the difficulty of the rapids can change at different times of the summer as the water levels change. Kate stopped our raft so we could swim and brought us cold water and trail mix snacks. She gave us options to take the calmer or more exciting side of several rapids which was nice. We took the more exciting and it was great. We got sprayed with cool refreshing water as we paddled our way through but didn't fall out or feel unsafe. Kate was a friendly, knowledgeable and confident guide. She even let me take her place to steer the raft at the very end at an easy part. Totally fun. They have porta potties and changing room and a really cool beach area with Adirondack chairs where you're invited to sit and relax after your trip. Everyone was really nice and helpful.
