I took my e-bike in for service. The turnaround was only a few days and my bike looked brand new. I was very pleased with the detail that went into the service. My gears shift smoother than they ever have. I was pleased that he was honest about any work that needed done. Didn't try to sell me on anything. Terrible customer service! My mother went in there for bike troubles, as you do, she is a mature mountain biker just trying to get her bike fixed. The employee constantly belittled her and put her down. Not friendly at all and seemed arrogant/prideful. They got the bike fixed but even when she was picking up the bike the employee said she did a bad job at explaining the issue. read more

Very bad experience. I brought my trek in for yearly tuneup. I was told i needed new chain and gear, so i agreed. When i picked up bike something didnt seem right but i brought it home. Later when i had time to ride i discovered they removed my expensive shimano brakes front and back and replaced with cheap inferior brakes. The owner claimed i switched bikes, then wanted a picture of bike. Fact my brakes didnt need replacement nor did i authorize. The owner would return my brakes. read more

This place is terrible, I bought a bike bike but that's not the problem. Whatever I take that bike for my other bikes in It seems like they never want to talk and the main guy is very disrespectful to me and my family. The actual service is expensive not well done and takes way longer than needed to get the job done. I understand that they have a lot of customers but a simple break fix or tire problem. Doesn't need to take a week or two. I won't be here because of those problems I just listed, and they're much better bike shops around town like the bikes and others shops. I have a giant bike and the battery is dead and I don't have a charger and I went in. The customer service was there basically told me to suck my own dick. Said every bike comes with a charger. Yeah. I know. And mine broke. So can I order one? He said he would have to order it and brushed me off. Before leaving empty handed, I asked one final time, how long for it to arrive because I would like to buy one. He scoffed "60 days, but I can put you on a call list" and legit walked away without even trying to get my info. Would not recommend this place to anyone. He lost good money. read more

I won a certificate for a tune-up in a raffle. My daughter was given a bike and I decided to take it in and see if they could fix it up. This happened quite a while ago but the owner is still the same so this late review still applies. I was hit by a car while riding my high end Giant cross bike and needed a new front fork and crank. Denis was very rude and short with me to begin with but I had to go through a Giant dealer so I left the bike with the instructions to order the exact replacement parts and install them. After the wait for the parts I picked up my bike to find the fork wasn't the same color pattern which wasn't a huge deal, but they didn't ask before installing it. Took the bike home and did a few rides before I noticed the crank was a lower end model from the same brand. I called and explained they had put on the wrong crank and that I needed the right one. Denis said he ordered what I told him to. After I reminded him that he looked up the parts with the instructions to replace them exactly, he said that I was trying to get a free crank and that he wouldn't replace it (even though I said I didn't want the first one he put on). In the end I had to pay half for the new one to get him to order it, so I had to pay for one and a half cranks for his mistake. Overall terrible experience, especially after being hit. The bike community is usually amazing but Denis is anything but. read more

Took my 21 year old Specialized Stumpjumper in because the chain kept jumping cogs. Went to another bike shop and they just adjusted the derailer on the work stand. The guys at Bike Habitat analyzed the problem with the cables, gave it a tune-up, then road tested it under normal riding conditions. Now bike rides smoothly and shifts as it should. Could not be happier with my 21 year old bike, rides like new! Great shop! read more

was passing thru town and asked for a "safety" check for my road bike... I showed up at 5 30, they were busy, and closing at 6.. They said bring the bike in, let's take a look... They wound up changing both of my brake pads, and a clip for one of the brake pads. They also loosened my clips. They also told me I could change my crank and chain, but that it wasn't yet necessary. When I said, ok let's change the crank and chain, they said you could wait a month or so to do that, as they had other bikes ahead of me... I was very, very pleased that they took good care of me so quickly and efficiently! They were very friendly too.... Highly recommended!! Money to the tip jar!! read more

Not to keep repeating others but this is really the best shop in town. I have been to others around here but none compares to the service that you get from Dennis and his staff. I regularly take my bike there for tune-ups and basic servicing and the service, price and timing can't be beat. Yesterday I was there with my wife and as a surprise I bought her an Electra Townie bicycle bike that he had shown my wife before. For my wife who doesn't ride regularly he understood what she needed when she said how uncomfortable she was with normal bikes. Now my wife is all jazzed about her new bike and the whole family can ride bikes together. We are all looking forward to taking our bikes with us on an upcoming trip to San Francisco so we can ride them around and see even more sites. I came to Dennis and his crew a few weeks ago to reserve a mountain bike for the Epic Ride that came to Carson City the 17-19th of June, 2016. I called a week and a half out and not only did they have a demo in my size (XL) they were able to reserve the bike for me no problem at all. I came in to pick up the Giant Trance 2 and it was ready and waiting for me. I got to demo the bike very well in every type of terrain over the course of the weekend and at the end of the weekend I was in love with the bike and absolutely needed to buy one. I came back in to return the bike asked Dennis how much he wanted for it (as that was their only XL). He was able to sell me the demo bike that I had fallen in love with so much over the weekend. Bike Habitat is a smaller shop, but they keep it well organized and well stocked with merchandise. Their prices are very competitive. But the stand out at this shop is their customer service. And to me that's worth the most. I'd rather pay more at a bike shop for quality customer service, and the best part is that the prices here are great too! I am new to MTB with experience in road cycling. Dennis and his crew were very informative and walked me through everything on that bike and got me dialed in exactly as I wanted it. They spent 4 hours with me (Yes, 4 hours! Talk about patience) answering all my questions and making sure everything was perfect before I left the shop. They explained everything to me down to a beginner level and showed me how to use everything on the bike. What's more is that they were doing the same with another rider that did the same thing as I! And they were short staffed and had a constant flow of other customers coming in! I mean talk about balancing multiple things. These guys did great and were able to help everyone very well. Went into shop. Thought I would look around. My son said owner used to be his p.e. teacher @ Fremont Elementary. I needed some parts for a kids 12 beginner's bike. Short on cash, I wanted to use my credit card. I was told by the very rude owner who didn't even acknowledge us, as we were not there to purchase his marked up bikes( We were not dressed in the cleanest attire that day, having worked on my vehicles that day when we walked in) that he'd prefer cash on small purchases. I stopped in Bike Habitat to see if they had a wheel I could purchase because I was supposed to be on a ride in a half hour and realized I had left mine at home 56 miles away. They were so generous. Hands down the best bike shop I've ever visited. I've bought two bikes there, and I'm very happy with the customer service I've received from Dennis (the owner) and every one of his staff. When I walk into the store, I am greeted by name, they remember both of my bikes (even though neither of them were very expensive), and they ask about how each of the bikes are performing. As a relatively new cyclist, I often have questions about upgrades (tires, pedals, seats, etc.) and Dennis spends a lot of time explaining in great detail the pros/cons of different products.
