Habana Soco is a very laid-back, casual cuban spot. There's outdoor seating, which is nice on a good weather day, and a free parking lot. The service was friendly but not as attentive. As for the food, it was okay but nothing particularly memorable. Everything was decent, just not great or especially flavorful compared to other options around town. It's also kinda pricey for what you get.

Habana Austin absolutely knocked it out of the park! I ordered the vaca fritas with maduros, and it was phenomenal. The beef was perfectly shredded, tender, and packed with flavor, paired beautifully with rich, savory beans and sweet, delightful maduros that tied everything together. Every bite was satisfying. The staff was excellent--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even better. The ambiance deserves a special shoutout too: laid-back reggae music, a fun vibe, and the flamingos in the outdoor dining area give the place such a unique, relaxed charm. This is the kind of spot you want to come back to again and again. Highly recommend if you're looking for great food, great service, and a great atmosphere in Austin!

I started with a skinny margarita straight up. Thanks to the bartender for the heavy pour. We ordered the empanada sampler with one beef, one chicken and one queso empanada. I liked the queso empanada the most. It had the most flavor. The beef and chicken need more seasoning. I ordered the Cubano sandwich and it was delicious and huge. Great flavors! We sat outside in one of the cabanas. My shorts got caught on a couple of nail heads on the bench.

I'm from out of town and came here with a local who knows I love Latin culture food. This place was nice hole in the wall. There was not many people there when we went, which was suprising to my colleague but it could of just been a down time with so many local events going on. The service was good, We had to seek more then they sought, the food portion was huge flavor able minus the chicken in mine, it was very dry. Prices are a little high but today, mom & Pops gotta do what they can to keep pushing. I'd definately go back and try other menu options.

Currently sitting at this restaurant eating and had to write this review because of how amazing everything has been. Everything is authentic and the portions are huge. Our server is on top of it. Making sure we have everything we need. I love the vibe and energy. Great music. We sat outside. I love all the plants! I'd tie this place more stars if I could!

I visited Habana for dinner recently. They have plenty of indoor seating and two outdoor patios. At certain times, you can smoke their Cuban cigars on the patios, which sounds like a great experience for spring and summer evenings. The service was slow (a bit frustrating since there were only three tables), but the food arrived quickly--within five minutes. I ordered the Picadillo with yellow rice and black beans. The meat was well-seasoned, and I really enjoyed the sauce. My boyfriend tried the Masitas de Puerco with Yuca con Mojo. He mentioned the pork was slightly dry, but the sauce helped, and he thought the Yuca was the best he's ever had! For drinks, I had a mojito, and he ordered an Iron Beer, which tasted like a Cuban Root Beer with a hint of licorice to me. The mojito was small for the $20 price tag and not to my liking, which was disappointing. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and can't wait to return for a Cuban sandwich and cigars on the patio.

Just had lunch here because my brother who lives in Texas was craving Cuban food and wow I'm impressed! Our server was German, he greeted us right away & got our order of croquetas started. It was not busy when we were sat. Our food came out fairly quickly and my drink was made to perfection. The food was sooo delicious. The coconut rice was 10/10. The ropa vieja perfectly seasoned. The black beans were almost as good as my Cuban grandmother's. This was the perfect spot for lunch and they have outside seating as well. I highly recommend this place!!!!

    Ceviche Tropical was absolutely amazing!!

This place blew me away!! From the outside it doesn't look like much but the inside is super cozy and has a tropical modern vibe. The staff is quick and friendly. The food quality was top notch!! I can eat the plantain chips all day long!!

Need catering for your company party ? I highly recommend Habana. I had Habana for a company dinner. They did a very good job. Everything was fresh and they kept it coming. They have so many options even for people who don't eat meat! Everything was so flavorful. The beef empanadas were a the star of th show! They also have an outdoor area with plenty of seating that is well lit! I had a mojito from the bar that was very refreshing. The staff was friendly! I will definitely come back on my personal time.

Hidden gem in Austin. Establishment with island vibes and delicious Cuban food. Came during happy hour time on a Tuesday. Empanadas ($5 each) were fried crispy on the outside and full of filling. The beef, chicken, and cheese (super ooey gooey) were stuffed well and amazingly flavored. Awesome dipping sauces too. The Sandwich Cubano ($17) was humongous, stuffed full of pork, and amazing.(+$5) for Yuca Fries on the Side. Other people ordered the Pollo Salteado ($23), Masitas with Yuca con Mojo ($23), drinks, and Tres Leches ($9). Everything was hugely portioned. Service was a bit spotty given we were the only ones int he restaurant but alas.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside the food is enormous and the vibes are great. The bar tender was our waiter and he was all around amazing. Everything we ordered was phenomenal and we will definitely be coming back whenever we are in the area!

The meat was cooked perfectly and the stew was very flavorful. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered 2 empanadas, one was ham and cheese, and the other was beef, both were $4. The empanadas came with 3 sauces, a green, red, and white sauce. The green and red sauce were very good with the beef empanadas. I dipped the ham and cheese one in my husband's stew and it was delicious! My husband also ordered their plain mojito, which was really good. Overall, service was great! Food was great. Price was great. What more to say? We will definitely be coming back. This will definitely be one of our favorite places to frequent. 10000% recommend!

Bubbly, silly, sat down with us for a minute, great recommendations. Definite need to return to try their roasted chicken. We all started with fresh guava juice which was soo good, not too sweet and just a little pulp. We shared the croquettas, which were divine (creamy potatoes with garlic, seasonings and ham)... creamy tomato dressing served on the side elevated their flavor! Then on to entrees! I had the Lechon Asado - pork marinated with citrus, garlic and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside with sautéed onions, black bean (Congri) dirty rice, crisp salad and perfectly cooked fried plantains. Incredible dish! My son ordered the classic Cuban sandwich which he enjoyed but he liked my pork better. He also had plantains and house made potatoes chips. His buddy had the El Cubanito Burger (which was a HUGE burger topped with ham, pulled pork and bacon & Swiss). I took home 1/3 my meal to have room for dessert. I had the choco-flan and my kiddo had a classic flan. Mine was an excellent creamy flan over a moist chocolate pudding like cake with caramel sauce. Portion were large, everything was rich in true Cuban flavors... beautifully presented too! Excited to go back. Menu is extensive and they have an in-house bakery! They make ALL their bread in-house. We took home some flakey pastries to try at home. Love the guava filled puff pastry. Colorful, vibrant restaurant with a full bar!

Okay Cuban Food in Pflugerville…read more Tropicana sets the standard for Cuban food in this town. I have not been to Havana on South Congress in years. Back in the day, Havana impressed as well. What about Chicho's? It won't thrill you. It won't kill you. * * * a) The menu at Chicho's is small. The menu at Tropicana is infinite. Chicho's is mostly a sandwich place. But they have some plates. Tropicana has everything. b) Servings at Chicho's are small. Small servings? At a Cuban restaurant? Yes - Miami has some Cuban restaurants with small servings too. But Cuban is where you often go when you are looking for some serious bellybusting. Havana Harry's is the model for ... your appetizer, your main course and your dessert are EACH as filling as a Thanksgiving Dinner. That is three Thanksgiving Dinners. The pork chop I got at Chicho's was cut thin. How thin was your pork chop, Samuel C? Funny you should ask, Yelp Reader. It was maybe a thickness of three on a delicatessen slicer. Probably closer to two. It was like eating a slice of ham out of an Oscar Mayer ham for little kids's lunch pack. It was nicely sauteed and had a sweet sauce. (Shades of the Oscar Mayer ham again). I ate my ration. There was an ice cream scoop's worth of congris. It was first rate congris ... the best thing on the plate. I was sad when my ice cream scoop's worth was gone. There were four maduros which counts as a legal but unimpressive serving. They were standard. There was a miniscoop of salad - but you know the salad you get as a side garnish in Mexican and Cuban restaurants. You don't eat it and it is no loss. * * * The other downside was the strawberry juice drink con leche. It was a standard industrialized strawberry pulp pack for drinks Which is par for the course when you order these things. Either something was funny with the strawberry pulp or something was wrong with the milk. 85 percent of the sips were okay. 15 percent were - wait a minute - something is wrong. The wrongness was inconsistent enough that I did not want to complain to management. But the more I reflect on it - the more I am sure I would not order another juice drink for a beverage. * * * Overall, my basic dishes were good enough that I could see eating there again if I happened to be in the neighborhood. But Pflugerville is full of amazing places ... And there is some great Yelp reviewing to be done in that town. And if I am hungering for Cuban ... there is always Tropicana. * * * Actually ... If I am hungering for Cuban ... There is always Miami. Eat at the best Cuban places in Miami And you will be so happy you will never want to eat again. Plus you will be so full it will be physically impossible for you to eat again. Ever. * * * No Cuban restaurant in Austin takes you to that extreme of happiness. But Tropicana does a good job of getting you 2/3 of the way there.

It's challenging to replicate the same experience locally, as these restaurants lack access to the fresh, local ingredients that define their unique cuisine. Casa Colombia does a good job replicating a true Colombian dining experience. Their menu is extensive with some very interesting offerings. Scanning the dining room, I noticed that their portions are huge. We started with a shrimp cocktail, an empanada, and their version of a rum - mango martini. The small option for the shrimp cocktail was bountiful and easily shared. The housemade cocktail sauce was a perfect accompaniment. The empanada was a tad dry, but their spicy salsa sauce was a great addition. Our "martini" was sweet but very satisfying on a warm afternoon. We did want to try their ceviche, but they are using tilapia as their fish. Quality Seafood is not too far away, and I'm sure that they could offer a better-tasting white fish than plain ole tilapia. We split one of their house specials, the Bandeja Paisa Tipica. This is a traditional Colombian dish, and it is a meat lover's dream served on an oversized platter. Our platter arrived with a chorizo link, beef sirloin, rice, red beans with pork, a huge fried chicharrón, an arepa, a sweet plantain, a slice of avocado (well, there's the only healthy portion), and a fried egg on top. We struggled to eat about 70% of this feast. It's going to take a few visits to the gym to work off this lunch. Dis & Dat: Parking is a breeze as they have their own parking lot. They do offer a happy hour that begins at 3 PM. A definite 4-plus star experience.
