Latin-Caribbean food truck made of sunshine and everything spice!
    Donna L.

Based on the Yelp reviews I had a feeling that making a 30 min drive on a Wednesday afternoon was going to be worth it. I was right! I was doing a staycation for my vacation and my craving for Caribbean food got the best of me. So, I jumped in the car to make the trek. Upon arrival I could tell that I missed the lunch rush. Wonderful, because that means I didn't have to wait long at all. The food truck is in the parking lot with another food truck and picnic tables and covered seating near the bar building. Everything was clean and tidy. I ordered the Coconut Shrimp bowl and it was soooooooo good! The flavors in the bowl were a treat for my tastebuds. The shrimp were delicious and cooked well. It was the beans though, that caught me by surprise! They had a nice spicy kick to them and reminded me of the Cajun Red Beans & Rice dishes I've had in the past. I also ordered a side of plantains, which were prepared perfectly as well! I had to restrain myself from eating all of the plantains before leaving the lot. Once I got home, the food was still warm and it did not miss a beat by being prepared to go. Writing about it all now makes me want to make another trip. But it hasn't even been a week yet so I'll have to wait. But soon come I shall return!

    The Texan taco

I had some amazing tacos here and shared the sweet potato fries. The shrimp and shredded beef were huge and juicy, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The mango salsa on top of the shrimp taco was perfect. The sweet potato fries were huge, perfectly cooked and seasoned. My friend enjoyed her bowl. This is a perfect Caribbean cuisine to order and eat with a beer next door or take out.

    Floridian taco

Get the jerk wings! They aren't too spicy, they just have a tantalizing sort of smokey flavor. And the chicken itself was succulent & juicy. The order or 6 wings came with an avocado ranch that added a welcome coolness to the dish. And of course this is the perfect accompaniment to a beer from Hi Sign right nextdoor. The tacos are pretty stuffed, so worth the $5-ish pricetag, but they aren't the star in my opinion. We ordered 3: the Floridian, the Yawdy & the Yucatan. The Floridian was easily the best. The sweetness & texture of the shrimp paired well w/ mango salsa. And I always like a little fresh shredded cabbage to add crunch & freshness. The other 2 tacos were just ok. They were less flavorful and didn't have the contrast of texture that made the Floridian so enjoyable. Nyam is still worth the visit if you're in the area specifically for the wings. Plus w/ Hi Sign right next door (and a couple other bars w/ in a short walk) it's worth the visit!

Food truck is in the back of Hi Sign Brewing

Went to the back of Hi Sign Brewing expecting the Norte food truck but was met with this pleasant surprise instead. The truck offers El Salvadorian + Caribbean fusion food which translates to jerk chicken, curried goat (when available), slaw, rice and beans with sweet notes from the pineapple. Everything we got (tacos and a chicken bowl) was delicious! The food took about 10 minutes to come out but I suspect we were the first order of the day. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick, quirky bite!

Tried Nyam at a company-sponsored lunch today and it was delicious. Had the Yawdy Bowl with jerk chicken, rice, beans, slaw and guac. Generous portion and the chicken was perfectly cooled. Looked forward to trying more of their menu.

Goat curry, shrimp taco, yuca fries, fried plantains

What a cute little place with amazing Caribbean food! This is a food truck near Ani's day and night and it's a great place to hang out in general . But we mainly come here for the food from this food truck place. The curry got hits the spot every single time with enough food for two people with tender pieces of goat and veggies. Mild but super flavorful. The yuca fries are crispy but the sauce enhances the flavor and you can also ask for habanero sauce if you like spicy food like us . The plantains are so authentic with a nice sweet touch but pan fried to perfection. The tacos are great as well and we like the shrimp taco out of all as the shrimp is always cooked well and the sauce on the taco is great! Definitely recommend this place to get authentic Caribbean food !

Yummy and filling?? That is a five star in my book. Despite my dislike for truck food (I have this thing about no running water), truck food is almost mandatory in Austin. Austin tries so hard to be ghetto gangsta chick and remains to promote weirdness. (And truck food and ghetto chick go in h in h.) The jerk chicken plate, at $15 plus tax, has ample juicy Jamaican chicken, fried plantains, Jamaican rice, and stir fried veggies. The chicken was delicious, finger licking bone sucking delicious. I don't often get excited about chicken as there is only a few chicken places that are worthy, but this is really delicious. Complemented by the tangy taste of plantain and veggies with rice, it is a complete hearty meal for a hungry traveler or local weirdos. I'm still not a fan of truck food, but I'm an fan of Nyam.

    Corn fritters
    Nicki G.

This place is SO good!!!! The corn fritters are seriously amazing especially with the dipping sauce. The Texan tacos were so delish and the beef was so fresh and flavorful. I can't wait for it to warm up I'll be a frequent visitor to this little spot on riverside!

*OVERALL* The food is very unique and tasty - it was my first time trying Caribbean Latino fusion food and I loved it! The jerk chicken will change your life. I am so excited to go back and try out other dishes on their menu. *PARKING* There are two free parking lots on either side of the area. The Nyam Sunshine Cuisine food truck is parked in front of the cafe, Ani's Day and Night, and there are ample picnic tables outside. Perfect for eating outdoors with large parties and also very dog-friendly. *FOOD* I got the Jerk Chicken and was very happy with my decision. The chicken was juicy and bursting with flavor, the plantains added a nice sweetness to the dish, the Jamaican rice was savory and addicting, and the sauce complemented the dish very well. If you're looking for a hearty dish that's packed with a perfect balance of different flavors, I would highly recommend this dish!

Really enjoyed this food truck! Stumbled upon it while at an event at Ani's Day and Night. I had the jerk chicken sandwich and a side of yuca fries. Both were great and the jerk chicken was tasty and flavorful but not overwhelmingly spicy. The yuca fries were crispy and came with a delicious sauce. Other people I was with got 1/4 jerk chicken and said it was delicious. Seems like a family run business, very friendly. Prices were affordable and fair!

Had the jerk chicken taco. Quite good. Good size for $5. Not very spicy at all. Cool location out beyond a beer bar. Lots of seating.

Like your girl can eat tacos but I had never been one to be like let's go get some cause I am craving them. But man cuantos tacos can definitely get me saying I want and crave them! I thought prices were pretty fair at 2.75 a piece. After much researchon what to eat in Austin this is one of the spots that I saved as a bookmark. While I was in Austin, a foodie friend on Instagram shared with me her list of recommendations since she just moved to Austin not too long ago. I knew that Ihad to stop by Cuantos Tacos, I mean how often do you see a Michelin BibGourmand taco truck. We came here for dinner but it was cold, sprinkling, anddark out. Tables they had were wet from the sprinkle.  My family only triedthe suadero taco ($2.75 per taco) but OMG it was the best thing we ate duringour trip in Austin. It was super memorable, the meat was soft and the salsaadded the perfect kick to it. It's been a month, my husband and I are still daydreamingabout these tacos.  Tacos are madepretty fast, we had to order tacos 3x since they were so good, we kept wantingmore. Wait time was super reasonable. Staff are nice and if I lived closer Ican see myself coming here every taco Tuesday! This definitely is a must go tospot if you like tacos.   Tips: *Small parking lot *Outdoor seating only *Credit card accepted *Porta Potty in theback (night time it is pretty dark and hard to see) *They cater. *You can also orderonline for pick up. Tips: Credit card and cash accepted. Outdoor seating option only. Restroom is port a potties. Located in an area with other food trucks.

Making them costra style to add cheese for 50c is a nice touch too. The picnic seating kinda leaves a lot to be desired, my table was very broken. Staff is friendly and helpful in the truck!

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk).
